I’ve never posted a press release for anything before on Swatch And Learn. But when I received one for the upcoming OPI The Muppets Holiday 2011 Collection along with images to share with you, I went berserk!
(What can I say? The power of polish compels me! And I’m not looking for a lacquer exorcist.) 😛
Please let me know whether or not you would like to see press releases and promo pictures like these in the future on my blog or not.
And, don’t worry, this blog will never be bombarded with press releases. I very much prefer to show you swatches I’ve done, share reviews with you, and post photos of the actual bottles.
But when something drives me crazy (hehe…and by something, I mean nail polish, of course), I’d like to share my excitement and anticipation with you all so that we can discuss what colours we’re loving the most and looking forward to the most. 😀 We can enable each other. Wait, is that bad? I don’t care! Let’s do it! Okay? 😉
And now onto the colour descriptions and the bottle pictures of every shade in the OPI Muppets Holiday Collection!
OPI The Muppets Holiday 2011 Collection
This year, OPI’s holiday collection consists of 12 nail polishes, half of which are glitter! The collection will be released on November 1st.
Rainbow Connection caught my eye first. (I bet that’s gonna be the first one from this collection to sell out. Hehe, Nail Nostradamus here. Yeah right!) I’ll probably buy a back-up bottle of it, too.
I suggest grabbing Rainbow Connection as soon as the collection drops if you like it or you may be kicking yourself later. And I don’t want you to kick yourself. I also don’t want you to kick me. 😛
Colours in the OPI The Muppets Collection:
(Click on any of the below links to see my swatches and review of that particular colour!)
- Rainbow Connection
- Divine Swine
- Fresh Frog of Bel Air
- Gone Gonzo!
- Gettin’ Miss Piggy With It!
- Excuse Moi!
- Animal-istic
- Warm & Fozzie
- Wocka Wocka!
- Pepe’s Purple Passion
- Designer, de Better!
- Meep-Meep-Meep
The other half of the collection consists of reds (of course since this is a holiday collection, reds are a staple), and 2 metallic shades, bronze and copper.
Hehe, the display for this makes me laugh. I’m not really a Miss Piggy fan, but she does make me laugh because of her eccentric and egotistical attitude. Just look at her in the below picture! Hehe, she thinks she’s fabulous and that everything’s about her. Look at her flossin’ her string of pearls, huge ring, false lashes, and leopard-pleather trench! 😛
To get a better feel for the colours, here are larger pictures of each colour with OPI’s official description below each shade.

And now here’s the official OPI press release sent to me by PR:
Sending “Warm & Fozzie” Wishes from OPI!
OPI Celebrates Disney’s “The Muppets” with Holiday Lacquers Inspired by Walt Disney Pictures’ New Film
This holiday season, OPI pays homage to America’s favorite Muppet friends as they hit the big screen in Disney’s The Muppets. With an all-star cast including Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Kermit, Miss Piggy and the entire Muppet crew, the family comedy opens in theaters nationwide on November 23, 2011.
Inspired by the film’s namesake lively and colorful characters, OPI launches twelve limited-edition Nail Lacquers for Holiday 2011. “OPI is so excited to work with Disney to celebrate this long-awaited movie release,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “Not only do The Muppets characters inspire fun, bright and joyful colors, the fashionable Miss Piggy lends her name to three high-shine pink-based hues, ranging from bold red flecked with silver to a multi-dimensional strawberry shade.”
This line features six shimmery reds and neutrals, as well as six glitter-packed.
Lacquer packed with micas and sparkle gives a 3-dimensional textured look that makes nails look like jewelry. With shades ranging from textured glitters in rainbow, red, green and blue to softer shimmers in copper and bronze metallic hues, these twelve colors provide the perfect accessory for the holiday season.
As with all OPI nail lacquers, these shades inspired by Disney’s The Muppets contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application.
This limited edition promotion will be available beginning November 2011 at Professional Salons and Spas for $10.95 CAN suggested retail for each Nail Lacquer.
For more information, please call 800-341-9999 or visit www.opi.com. Follow OPI on Twitter @OPI_PRODUCTS and become a Facebook fan!
And just in case you’re interested in the movie, here’s what the press release had to say about it:
On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate. With secret, signature, celebrity cameos, Disney’s “The Muppets” hits the big screen Nov. 23, 2011.
See, I told you that this collection is exciting! Had to share it with you all.
Oh, and you might have noticed that the price is listed as $10.95 CAD. I asked PR because Trade Secrets and many other places I’ve seen sell OPI for $9.95 CAD. She said that $10.95 CAD is the suggested retail, so some places can sell it for less, but they’re asked to sell it for around that price. So not to worry – each bottle shouldn’t be $1 more than usual depending on where you shop.
Which colours are you most looking forward to? Do you think you’re going to see the movie? Who is your favourite Muppet?
I cant wait for this collection! I need to have Gone Gonzo, Rainbow Connection, and Wocka Wocka.
Thanks for sharing this!

Hey Krissy!
November seems like it’s too far away. All the glitters are driving me crazy. Need to start saving! 🙂
And you’re welcome. 🙂 Glad you liked the promotional pictures.
Rainbow connection is amazing! I will run out and get that one as soon as this collection hits the stores!
Josefin recently posted: I’m still alive!
Hey Josefin!
Hehe, I think almost everyone who loves nail polish is going to be running out to get that one. I definitely need a back-up of that. The layering possibilities are going to be endless!
I really want all the glitters! But I’m going to have to see the swatches before I make up my mind for sure. I’m really glad OPI decided to release this collection with a even mixture of everything instead of giving us something like all cremes and two glitters. I’m hoping we get to see swatches soon, even if they’re not getting released until around November.
Hey Melissa!
Yes, it was good that they gave a little something for everyone. 🙂 I also can’t wait to see swatches. Really helps me decide…although from just the promo, I’m 99.9% sure that I’m going to love Rainbow Connection in person!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the glitters! I love the Rainbow Connection polish so much that I’m actually nervous right now that I won’t be able to find it! It’s the same feeling I got when I first saw Mermaid’s Tears from the Pirates Collection 🙂
Do you think Rainbow Connection will be something like Deborah Lippmann’s Happy Birthday? Or does it look like it will have more coverage like the OPI Burlesque Collection glitters??
Hey Anna!
OPI’s holiday collections are always huge hits. And since they’ve been experimenting more with multi-coloured glitters, it’s really exciting me!
I know what you mean about being nervous that you won’t find a particular colour because it’s so popular. Sometimes I wish I had a polish genie. “Please find me (insert name of a hard-to-find colour here), Genie!” *Poof* *Polish magically appears* One day….one day! 😛
I don’t have any Deborah Lippmann’s polishes (although I so badly want Across the Universe). But from swatches of Happy Birthday that I’ve seen online, it could be! I’ll have to see Rainbow Connection in person and then compare it to online swatches, though. I’m hoping that it has the same coverage as the Burlesque glitters.
So exciting! I wish they had a more clear idea of when it’ll start hitting shelves so I can plan my polish hunting. I need some Rainbow Connection in my life. And maybe some Gone Gonzo and Fresh Frog of Bel Air. First post I’ve seen of the bottle pictures, actually (yay for that!). I thought I wanted Designer De Better too, but it was Warm & Fozzie I was crushing on.
Wake me up when October ends. 🙂
Hey Carmela!
Hmm…no idea why your comment was automatically chucked into Spam. 😐 You comment on my blog a lot. The system should be familiar with you! 😛 Anyway, I took it out and hopefully it doesn’t happen again to you or others who aren’t spambots!
Onto more interesting things…like polish! 😀
Woo hoo! I’m so glad that it’s the first post you’ve seen of the bottle pictures. It’s fun seeing them for the first time in detail, but of course nothing beats in person! 😉 And, yes, everybody needs some Rainbow Connection in their life.
Oooo I want every glitter… Well maybe except Divine Swine. I hope I can get my hands on them. I try and get them on amazon. I hate how ulta hikes up the prices of OPIs best sellers.
Hey Valerie!
Yeah, the glitters are so tempting! Hope you’re able to track them all down once they’re released! 🙂

anyone know if this site is good? becuase it has some and i really want to order!
Hey Christine!
I have never personally ordered from there, but if any readers have, please let Christine and myself know what your experience with them is! Thanks!
P.S. I tweeted to ask my Twitter followers about this. If anyone knows, they’ll reply to your comment. 🙂
Hi Christine,
I happen to have ordered from Nail Polish Canada a few times already. I can say they have pretty good service and you get what you see on the website. I’ve never had personal experience with their customer service because so far I’ve never had any problems with my orders. All the polishes are wrapped carefully and individually in bubble wrap, placed in a box.
The package arrives in a timely manner and if you choose UPS, you’ll need to sign for it. Canada Post usually just delivers it to your mail box. I like how the free shipping minimum is a lot lower than other e-retailers. I’ve also had it where they’ve included a coupon code for a free bottle of Color Club polish on your next order. I don’t know if they’re still doing that though. My last order from them was maybe a couple or so months ago.
Also, I only always just pick the polishes on sale, because they do have a bit of a higher mark up but that’s only compared to brick and mortar stores in Canada. However, if you’re comparing it to US e-retailers, it’s definitely pricey BUT when you factor in shipping costs and border duties and taxes, better to patronize Canadian retailers. 😉
So to sum it up, definitely reputable, fast shipping, great products and they ship out of BC, fyi.

Thanks for helping out, Carmela! 🙂
Does the Pepe’s Purple Passion look like Mrs O’Leary’s BBQ? It does from the pictures.
Hey Hannah!
Oh, I wish I could say. I don’t Pepe’s Purple Passion or Mrs. O’Leary’s BBQ, so I can’t do even a bottle comparison let alone a swatch comparison. Sorry.
Have you tried looking for online swatches of each and comparing? It might be hard to find a single blog post featuring both colours, but maybe you could compare them separately…
