Since I thought it would be helpful to my readers and also because some readers requested this, I’m sharing swatches of the entire OPI San Francisco Collection in a single post.
Throughout the past few months, I’ve brought you individual in-depth reviews and swatches of all 15 shades, so feel free to click on any of the links in this post for those.
I rarely have an entire collection to share, but since I did this time and since I thought it would be neat to see them all at a glance, I whipped it up like a soufflé. 😉
Which are your top 3 picks from this collection?
P.S. There’s still time to enter my OPI San Francisco Collection giveaway for Canadians. You have until August 9 to enter!
Note: All the nail polishes shown in this post were given to me by OPI’s PR when I attended the exclusive OPI San Francisco Collection launch party back in March 2013.
These are the 15 shades in the OPI San Francisco Collection:
- A-Piers to Be Tan
- Dining al Frisco

OPI A-Piers to Be Tan
OPI A-Piers to Be Tan was very different than the browns that I’ve tried before because it leans more orange, much like yummy caramel sauce! (Don’t worry – I didn’t eat the polish!)

OPI Dining al Frisco
OPI Dining al Frisco has an icy, wintry vibe, and it seems to have a retro personality. The formula was smooth and showed some brushstrokes when I painted with medium coats.

OPI Haven’t the Foggiest
OPI Haven’t the Foggiest is a silver that reminded me of pots and pans because it’s a true, cool-toned silver.

OPI Peace & Love & OPI
OPI Peace & Love & OPI is a duochrome that goes from teal to fuchsia. Although this one was advertised as being holographic, I didn’t see this effect at all even when I inspected the bottle and my nails in the sun! Nevertheless, it’s still a pretty polish.

OPI Keeping Suzi at Bay
OPI Keeping Suzi at Bay was one of my favourites in the collection because the blue is bold, the formula was perfect, and the finish was glossy!

OPI Incognito in Sausalito
OPI Incognito in Sausalito is the perfect shade if you’re into dark blue nail polish. It is a blackened blue, and I noticed that it looked darker on my nails than it did in the bottle.

OPI Lost on Lombard
OPI Lost on Lombard is a ladylike classic red with an air of sophistication. It’s a softer red that reminds me a lot of the fall.

OPI I Knead Sour-Dough
OPI I Knead Sour-Dough isn’t your typical brown. It has red shimmer throughout, which is really interesting and reminds me of the red soil on Prince Edward Island.

OPI Muir Muir on the Wall
OPI Muir Muir on the Wall is a deep plum that reminds me of a magical potion. It’s vampy and very sexy – I love it! It was one of my favourites from the collection.

OPI In the Cable Car-Pool Lane
OPI In the Cable Car-Pool Lane is one of those ‘Wowzer’ polishes because the shine is so glass-like that you can see your own reflection on your nails! This was one of my favourites in the collection because the formula was wonderful!

OPI Embarca-Dare Ya!
OPI Embarca-Dare Ya! is a glowy, lit-from-within magenta that catches the light in a glorious way! It is such a show-stopping colour!
Click here for my OPI Embarca-Dare Ya! in-depth review, swatches & bottle shots!
OPI First Date at the Golden Gate
OPI First Date at the Golden Gate is a muted red that has an autumnal personality. It’s one of those staple reds that I feel every nail-polish collector needs in their stash.
Click here for my OPI First Date at the Golden Gate in-depth review, swatches & bottle shots!
OPI It’s All San Andreas’s Fault
OPI It’s All San Andreas’s Fault is a taupe nail polish with the OPI Liquid Sand finish. While I think this would look chic and sophisticated on some people, I wasn’t crazy about it on me because it doesn’t suit my personality and love for bold colours.
Click here for my OPI It’s All San Andreas’s Fault in-depth review, swatches & bottle shots!
OPI Wharf! Wharf! Wharf!
OPI Wharf! Wharf! Wharf! is a Cookie-Monster blue with the OPI Liquid Sand finish. I really enjoyed this because it’s a bold colour and not too light or too dark.

OPI Alcatraz…Rocks
OPI Alcatraz…Rocks was hands down my absolute favourite nail polish from the collection because it’s so different from all the other OPI Liquid Sands I’ve seen. The base is a gorgeous midnight-sky blue, and the green, purple and gold glitter really made this polish come to life!

I hope that you found this post helpful to compare all the shades together. 🙂 I really enjoyed the OPI San Francisco Collection, and I think there’s so much great variety from the shades to the finishes. There’s really something for everyone!
What are your top 3 picks from this collection? Did any of the colours surprise you? if you could suggest the next location to inspire an OPI collection, where would it be?
My three favorites are Suzi, Incognito, and Embarca-Dare-Ya. Those three I really like. The liquid sands in this collection aren’t doing a thing for me, though.
Hey Beth!
Great top 3 picks! I’m surprised you don’t like any of the Liquid Sands, but especially Alcatraz…Rocks. That one stole my heart!
Amazing collection! While a huge fan, I’m not up on every OPI collection but an UK-inspired collection would be cool if it’s not already been done!
Caitlin G-H recently posted: Color Club Miss Bliss + Vinylmation Bakery!
Hey Caitlin!
Sometimes it’s good not to be ‘up’ on every single one. Hehe, because then your wallet would feel the burn! 😉
A UK-inspired one would be cool!
And yet with all these colours they didn’t do a green! I’m chomping at the bit to get my fingers around Alcatraz…Rocks! !
Hey Norma!
Yeah, I was hoping to see a green. Hehe, every collection from any brand, I cross my fingers, toes, and eyes for a green since I’m a greeen fieeend. 😉
You won’t be disappointed with Alcatraz…Rocks. It’s way more amazing in person than in photos!
I really like Alcatraz…Rocks, It’s All San Andrea’s Fault and A-piers to be tan is really growing on me. The other day I wanted to do nail art of a caramel sundae and I realized I didn’t have anything close to caramel color. And now that you said caramel too, that really sealed the deal :).
Hey Tanya!
Mmm…caramel-sundae nail art! Delicious – how will you keep from biting your nails if you paint that yummy design? Hehe!
I love this post! It’s great seeing all these together.
I nought Embarca-Dare Ya! already but I’m not too sure if I’m going to buy more shades from this collection.
Hey Soraya!
Glad that you enjoyed seeing this collection ’round-up’ post. It was fun to put together!
Great pics Mary! My top three: Alcatraz Rocks, Muir Muir on the Wall and…for the third one I’m not sure, maybe Incognito in Sausalito or I knead Sour Dough. Great collection ^__^

He Paola!
Thank you so much! 🙂 Glad you enjoyed the photos!
Still waiting for this collection to show up locally, but I’m definitely buying a few!
(Doooooom! My local mall got an OPI stand! Although they’re priced typically for OPI around here, which is to say roughly $18 apiece but what can you to- gotta feed the addiction!)
Hey Fedoraharp!
Haha, “Doooooom!” You’re so funny! 😉 It’s very dangerous when OPI is near, that’s for sure!
Wow, it still blows my mind that OPI is so expensive in other parts of the world! Here in Canada, the retail price is around $9.95 CAD, which is very reasonable. I don’t think I could afford to be a nailphile if I had to pay $18 each! WOW!
Does it make you whittle down the colours you purchase?
Yeah, out of my 250+ nail polish collection, only eight are OPI. And of those, three were gifts! Although if you count Nail Envy (which is even MORE expensive), nine. Most of my polishes also fall around the $5-$10 range. What’s weird is that it’s inconsistent- Orly is also imported, but they retail here at around $6 just like in the USA. Borjois and Revlon and a few other brands also retail at the overseas price. But OPI and China Glaze? Through the roof! Essie is expensive, but it’s expensive overseas too, so that’s no surprise.
I’d order online, but the shipping is fairly high. I’m still looking for the holy grail site of low shipping and good prices for brand names! At least we’ll always have the bornprettystore for off-brand goodness.
Fedoraharp recently posted: NOTD: Stained glass
I wonder why stores are able to maintain a low Orly price, yet OPI and China Glaze are so expensive where you are. Hmm!
I do not normally like brown colored polishes but I have to get A-Piers to Be Tan!! I like the blues too, you can never have enough blue polish!

Hey Buthekitchensink!
A-Piers to Be Tan is such an interesting, different type of brown – very caramel-esque. Glad that you’re going to give something new a try!
Hehe, I’m with ya on the blue polish! 😉
Pretty pix!
How does A-Piers to Be Tan compare to CG Desert Sun?
Hey Rockinpolish!
Good question! I’ll have to dig up both and take a photo to compare. I’ll probably post a photo on Instagram and send you a link here so you can see. 🙂
car pool, sauselito, first date ahhhhh 🙂
Hey Icequeen81!
There are just so many great shades in this collection! 🙂
I love Muir, Cable Car-Pool, and Embarca-Dare Ya. I can’t help but wonder how close Cable Car-Pool is to Casino Royale, though. They look really similar.
Milly recently posted: Eternal Beauty – Color Club by Kelsey
Hey Milly!
I don’t own OPI Casino Royale, but looking at online swatches, you’re right – it does look similar!
I love my Casino Royale so maybe I can pass on the Cable Car-Pool. The other two, though, are on my NEED list.
Hehe, your NEEEEEED list! 😉 I like that. Spoken like a true nailphile!
I would like to see a “Great Lakes” collection.
Except for the liquid sands ( which I am still on the fence about), I feel like I have seen all of these colors before.
Great post — very informative! Thank you.
Hey Rochele!
That’s an interesting concept! I bet they could do a lot of cool things with that theme.
Hi Mary!
I LOVE your blog, and this particular post is one of my favourites. Please, please, please consider doing these kinds of posts every time you’ve reviewed an entire collection (and please make it a category of its own if you decide to do so) 😀
Hey Camilla!
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to leave me an encouraging comment!
I don’t usually review full collections, but when I do, from now on, I’ll try my best to do an overview like here, since you find it so helpful! 🙂 The next full collection overview will probably be the OPI Brazil Collection, since I’m nearly done reviewing every shade in great detail. 🙂
