With frigid winter winds so biting that you’re almost tempted to sink your chattering teeth into a habanero pepper for heat, the OPI New Orleans Collection is a welcomed nail vacation with warm vibes!
Officially scheduled for a February 2016 launch, the spring collection embraces fun colours that are a pleasant reminder of warm weather on the way.
There are 12 limited-edition colours in the OPI New Orleans Collection, and I’ll give you a guess as to which one my eyes darted to. Yup – the green called I’m Sooo Swamped!
The other hues that caught my attention in their colourful net were the blue creme (Rich Girls & Po-Boys), periwinkle shimmer (Show Us Your Tips!), and coral creme (Got Myself into a Jam-balaya).
Which ones have you pining for spring?
I was so inspired by the playful colours that I created the below image. Just seeing them all lined up makes me think of warmer days! 🙂

OPI New Orleans Collection Press Release
Bonjour, Big Easy!
OPI LAUNCHES NEW ORLEANS COLLECTION
FEATURING TWELVE NEW SHADES
FOR SPRING 2016
From the filigreed iron to its balconies to the jazz and jambalaya that permeate its air, New Orleans personifies grace, gumption and joie de vivre. The city’s indomitable spirit is the inspiration for OPI’s spring 2016 collection.
New Orleans Collection by OPI features 12 gorgeous new nail lacquers and matching GelColors that take nails and toes from beignets at Cafe du Monde all the way to nightcaps on Bourbon Street in style. Sweet, spicy, soulful and vibrant, the palette is perfect for a town where parades pop up everywhere, and dancing in the streets is de rigueur.
Every day is Mardi Gras with shades like “I Manicure for Beads” and “I’m Sooo Swamped.” It’s always fair (albeit steamy) weather, with “Humidi-tea” or “Let Me Bayou a Drink.” Other hues – “Got Myself into a Jam-balaya,” “Rich Girls & Po-Boys” and “Crawfishin’ for a Compliment” – pay homage to the Big Easy’s world-famous cuisine.
“The colors of New Orleans are more vibrant than ever, and we celebrate them wholeheartedly with our spring collection,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder & Brand Ambassador. “New Orleans is a place to recharge and revel. One where the atmosphere is delightfully diverse, where the food is epic and where music feeds the soul. We hope we’ve bottled up a little of that special NOLA culture, all while supporting the city’s remarkable renaissance.”

Have you ever been to New Orleans? Do you think these colours represent New Orleans well? Which colours in the OPI New Orleans Collection are calling out to you?
I’m dying to get these colors. I think I might buy all of them, well, at least most of them. LOL The colors are so pretty and the names are fun too. Can’t wait to see your review of them. 🙂
Hey Melissa!
Their spring shades are calling out to me. I’m so over winter! Bring on the happy shades that will match the milder weather!
Hi Mary, I was so laughing when you said one might be tempted to bite into a habanero pepper just to warm up in the winter! I accidentally put too much horseradish on a sandwich the other day, resulting in a burning nose, which then launched my body into a good ol’ hot flash — but I didn’t even mind since it was only about 15 degrees outside! =D OPI is probably my favorite mainstream brand and I always look forward to their collection releases — along with the cumbersome names! Ha, ha. I’ll probably get a few of these, since I enjoy shimmers as well as peach/orange shades for summer.
Hey Cat!
Oh yeahhhh – too much horseradish can indeed clear the sinuses! There have been several occasions when my nose was stuffed up, and I ended up clearing it up by accidentally eating too much horseradish!
The fun names are indeed an element of OPI nail polishes that I look forward to reading. Sometimes they’re really corny or awkward, but still, I like how they put in the creative effort to make the name memorable. 🙂
I am SO EXCITED for this collection. I’ve already seen some swatches and I can honestly say most of these colors are totally unique to anything in my collection (which at this point is vey impressive lmao). I’m also eyeing that green, can’t wait to see your reviews Mary!!!
Hey Michaela!
Haha, that sounds dangerous for your wallet! 😉 Your nail-polish family will be growing even faster.
I feel like OPI doesn’t usually put out many greens, as least in comparison to other colours like reds, purples, or pinks. So whenever they come out with a green, I want to try it ASAP! 🙂
I am so happy to see these beautiful colors. I love the entire bottom row.
Hey Cindi!
They’re like a pretty rainbow all lined up. You know, OPI should come out with some fun nail-polish posters that are done with an abstract design. I would totally buy them and hang them as artwork in my home.
I’m actually over excited for this collection! I can’t wait until it come out.

Hey Sasha!
Same! The variety of bright, warm-weather colours are what I’m craving because I’m tired of the winter. Bring on spring!
I can’t wait to see these in person! Hope they are as promising as they appear.
Hey Dee!
Fingers, toes, and eyes crossed! I’m also hoping for many winners in this collection!
All of the colours look tempting! I can’t wait to see you swatches and reviews.
Hey Barbara!
I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts and photos with you, too! Thanks for keeping me company on my nail journey. 🙂
I’ll be the one stalking the web for swatches… and after that probably getting most colors 🙂
