OPI Mod About You Swatches & Review (OPI Pink of Hearts 2014)

OPI Mod About You Swatches & ReviewBreast Cancer Awareness Month is just a wink away, so I’m getting a head-start by showcasing OPI Mod About You!

This pale, creamy pink isn’t a new shade, but it’s part of the OPI Pink of Hearts 2014 duo, which is a special Breast Cancer Awareness set that’s available until the end of October.

Although I’m not the biggest pink fan (probably because when I was a little girl, pink was my favourite, and it was nearly the only colour I ever wore), I try to wear more pinks around this time of year (as well as in February).

Although pink is a traditional nail-polish colour for most people, for me, it’s like a nostalgic novelty. 🙂

Since it’s part of the special OPI Pink of Hearts 2014 duo, the handle of this nail polish has a plastic sleeve featuring a print of pink ribbons all over for Breast Cancer Awareness.

OPI Mod About You Review

Colour

Soft like a ladylike whisper, Mod About You by OPI is a far cry from the nail polishes that I tend to gravitate toward. (Haha, I like my nails to scream until their little lungs feel sore!)

That being said, I believe that there’s always a time and a place for any colour. For this demure pink, I think it’s a great palate cleanser after you’ve been wearing lots of crazy shades. It gives you a breather, and then you’re ready to get back to the bold hues, you can appreciate them more.

When I wore this, I felt very elegant, and wearing such a pale pink makes your manicure look so fresh! (It’ll be awesome to wear this again in the winter.)

Finish

The simple and straight-forward creme finish allows the colour to be the star of the show. And it makes it ideal to be used as a base for nail art because it isn’t all about bells and whistles. (If it were an actor, it would be in a supporting role.)

Application & Formula

Mod About You by OPI had better coverage than what I was expecting. For a lot of pale pinks, the formula can be really weak and streaky, but this one was creamy and opaque!

I could’ve gotten away with just two coats, but I added a third one to see if it would add ‘that something extra’. (It pretty much looked the same at three coats as it did with two, so unless you need to fill in any areas, you should be good to go at two coats.)

Pros

  • Fresh pale pink
  • Opaque, easy-to-use formula
  • Special Breast-Cancer-Awareness packaging when you buy it in the OPI Pink of Hearts 2014 Set
  • Classic shade that’ll be around individually, even after the set is gone

Cons

  • Not the craziest colour (But not every nail polish needs to be committed to the lacquer insane asylum, right?) 😉

Final Verdict: 8/10

If you’re into wintry pale pinks and love a creme polish, OPI Mod About You will be right up your alley.

I like it, but because I’m a green fiend, it isn’t love. That being said, I see a lot of potential for it as a base for Valentine’s Day nail art.

Do you wear pale pinks like this often? Do you donate to breast-cancer research? Will you be sporting more pink in October in support of breast cancer awareness?

Very pretty color. Nothing crazy-just a soft, pink. I think I might actually buy this one. I’m starting to get into the “softer” side of polish. lol

      Hey Melissa!

That’s neat how you’re branching out and trying new shades. Sometimes it’s refreshing to experiment every once and a while to try something outside the comfort zone. 🙂 It can also open up new colour territory and possibilities!

I know pink isn’t your favorite, Mary, nor is it mine (I only have 3 in my collection and two are minis, lol) but honestly, that color looks super good on you! Really compliments your skin tone. I don’t know if would translate well on mine.

      Hey Mary!

Aww, thank you so much! 🙂 There are maybe a handful of pink nail polishes I’ve worn that have wowed me. It’s quite a rare occurrence! 😉 And usually they are of the bolder, saturated variety. Wearing a pale pink like this in a creme finish is a bit of a novelty for me, so it was cool to hear that you think it flatters my skin tone! Maybe I should try more of these shades. Sometimes the more you try, the more you start appreciating and branching out.
