Guess what? Today’s post is on OPI I Love Applause, which is from the OPI Muppets Most Wanted Collection!
I’m really excited to bring you this review because, if you’ve been following me on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, you saw over the last few days, I’ve been posting a few sneak-peek photos!
This type of soft shade is very uncharacteristic for me to sport. (You know that I tend to go for the loud ones the most.) However, I’m beginning to appreciate the subtle elegance of these kind of colours on myself as time goes on.
The colour shown in my flash photos actually show the pink best, however, the natural photos help you see the finish a little better.
P.S. You still have until the end of today to vote for me in the nail-art competition I entered. You can tweet and/or retweet the fishtail-braid photo with hashtags #NicoleChallenge and #Mary4Nicole. Please see the full details in the post I published a little while ago about this. As I’m coming to the homestretch, I’d really appreciate your support! Nicole by OPI Canada will announce the winner tomorrow at 5 pm EST.
P.P.S. This is also a friendly reminder that my OPI Brazil Collection Canadian giveaway is still going on (get your entries in!) until February 28 at 11:59 pm EST.

OPI I Love Applause Review
Colour
The press release was spot on when they called I Love Applause by OPI a sheer, sweet pink. This is a very delicate, feminine, soft-looking pale pink that whispers elegance on your nails.
It’s such a far departure than what I’m used to wearing (e.g. greens, neons, bold colours), however, I’m really digging it! (I’ve enjoyed seeing this kind of colour on others, but it’s only recently that I’m appreciating the subtly of it on me. Haha, maybe I’m getting older? Well, actually, haha, February is my birthday month!) 😉
Finish
I Love Applause by OPI has a milky creme finish that almost looks marshmallow-like. Combined with the colour, I think that’s why this Muppets Most Wanted shade looks so soft to me. (It’s like a nail-polish ballerina dancing on your nails.)
Application & Formula
As you can see further up this post, I indicated that it took 3 coats to achieve the opacity you see in my photos.
I wasn’t expecting full coverage right from the beginning because in the official OPI Muppets Most Wanted Collection press release, they clearly mentioned that it would be sheer.
With that in mind, I knew that I would be looking at 3 or more layers, so I wasn’t disappointed. Had it been promoted as a creme and it was so sheer, well, then yeah, I would be hitting the gong. (Dramatic much?) 😉
One coat was very streaky, and with two coats, it wasn’t evened out. So I used a third coat. I could see a little bit of my nail line peeking through, but for the most part, it was covered to the point where I felt comfortable.
The consistency of the formula was easy to paint with, as long as you pay attention not to let it pool at your cuticles. And I would advise that you try hard to use thin coats. I used medium coats, and I got some bubble on one nail (but on my other hand). (When you use thin coats, you may need to use 4 coats instead of 3.)
Due to all the layers you need to use, I strongly recommend using a fast-drying top coat to speed everything up, otherwise, you may accidentally ding your manicure.

Final Verdict: 7.5/10
I liked wearing this soft pink because it was a refreshing change to what I’m used to sporting, and it’s nice to switch things up every now and then.
If sheer polishes that need many coats drive you absolutely bonkers, then you’d better stay away from this one!
However, if you have the time to paint extra layers and really enjoy a marshmallow-like look and a cute pink that’s elegant without being too girly, I think you’ll appreciate it!
Do you wear sheer polishes? What’s the lightest pink you feel comfortable wearing? What’s on your nails now?
This would be a great ‘palete cleanser’ polish for me. I am also a fan of the bold and the bright, but every now and then I like to tone things down with something soft or neutral. I’ve actually got one of my palete cleansers on now- Revlon Creme Brulee. It clashes with my skin tone somewhat but I love it anyway 🙂

Hey Fedoraharp!
Mmm, the name alone sounds delicious! You know, whenever I’m eating out at a restaurant and there’s creme brulee on the menu, I always have to make room for it. Such a delicious dessert! 🙂
Great post Mary! Do you have an idea of polish for the same color but in a creme formula? I am DYING to get this color on my nails! Thanks 🙂
Hey Julie!
Unfortunately, I don’t really have many of these kind of shades in my collection to even compare it to. However, I recently got a bunch of Zoyas, but I’ll have to wear them before I can recommend any. Stay tuned!
Love the color. It reminds me of OPI’s Pinking of You. I wonder how they compare or if they are totally different side by side. I not a pink person, but I just might have to get this one because of the Marshmellow look. : )
Hey Melissa!
I think that both are very different, so you could justify owning both. OPI Pink-ing of You is way pinker and more saturated, whereas OPI I Love Applause is a very pale pink. (If you want to compare swatches, here’s the link to my OPI Pink-ing of You review: http://www.swatchandlearn.com/opi-pink-ing-of-you-swatches-review-from-the-pink-of-hearts-2013-set) Hope that helps!
