In 2011, I reviewed OPI DS Glamour on here in this post. But, it was time to pull it out again because it’s one of those oldie-but-goodie nail polishes that I consider to be a classic.
Funny thing is that I wore OPI DS Glamour on a sunny day, so I was expecting that by the time I got home, I could catch the tail-end of the rays for a photo that showcased the holographic nature.
The true beauty of a holographic nail polish shines through in bright sunlight.
However, Mother Nature had other plans for me. 😉 The clouds covered up the sky, despite me rushing home straight after work.
I took photos in artificial light, natural light, and flash. The flash photos you’ll see later on are closer to what you see in the sunlight – explosive scattered holographic goodness!
Since this is an older, discontinued OPI Designer Series nail polish, it’s trickier to find because it wasn’t kept in the permanent collection.

OPI DS Glamour Review
Colour
DS Glamour by OPI is a denim blue that comes to life in sunlight and bright light. It’s impressive like a firework, except you get to take it with you wherever you go!
Be careful if you’re driving, operating heavy machinery, playing chess with your arch-nemesis, or doing something that requires intense concentration because while wearing OPI DS Glamour, it’s easy to get distracted like a dog spotting a squirrel in the park.
In its full glory, you see the entire rainbow dancing on your nails, but when you’re in lighting conditions that aren’t so bright, the polish looks like a muted denim blue. That’s still pretty, but when the holographic beast rears its beautiful head, it’s so gorgeous, it’s amazeballs! (And I rarely use that word!)
Finish
The scattered-holographic finish sparkles, and it’s completely smooth. No grittiness. No rough spots. It’s like glass!
I’d say that it’s just as easy as removing a creme nail polish or even faster!
Application & Formula
Even after all these years of having OPI Designer Series Glamour, my bottle didn’t thicken. The formula was exactly how I remember it – absolutely smooth! It glided on so well. One coat covered nicely, but I feel like two coats makes it look its best. (I didn’t bother trying to wear a third coat because I wanted to use this discontinued polish sparingly.)

Final Verdict: 9.5/10
If you come across OPI DS Glamour for a reasonable price, don’t even waste time considering whether you need it or not in your collection because, according to this nailphile, it’s a must-have! (Had I known years ago how much I enjoy wearing this, I would’ve bought a back-up bottle.)
I have a bunch of other older, discontinued OPI Designer Series nail polishes that I plan to share with you on here in the near future. (If there’s a specific shade you’re interested in seeing, let me know. I may have it.)
Which is your favourite OPI Designer Series nail polish? Do you wear holographic lacquers more in the summer than during other times in the year? Do you prefer scattered or linear holos?
Vey pretty color. I love the holo effect of this gorgeous blue polish. It looks great on you. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Hey Melissa!
I’ve been thinking about pulling out my OPI DS Royal, which I haven’t worn in years. Maybe that’ll be the next OPI Designer Series polish I’ll review. 🙂 Any suggestions are always welcomed!
So pretty! ^_^

Hey Elizabeth!
Thanks – it’s even more spectacular in person. The camera doesn’t pick up all the little nuances of brilliance that it has to offer!
This is extremely beautiful! I hope that some way some how I can get my hands on it! I like holographic polishes and would wear they any time of the year. Both linear and scattered!

Hey Sasha!
Just keep checking eBay. Also, sometimes nail salons have old polishes on clearance. Don’t give up! I’m hoping you snatch up a bottle of this beauty. It’s worth the hunt.
Thanks for the tip Mary! I shall check out some salons as well!
