Today, I have something cool to share with you. (Happy Valentine’s Day, by the way!)
If you’re into fashion, you know what NYFW stands for! 😉
In this post, I include photos and information about the makeup inspiration and the fashion for the Marissa Webb and Jonathan Simkhai shows.
The Maybelline makeup artists whipped up the looks for both of the designers during New York Fashion Week 2015, which demonstrates that drugstore makeup can take you from the sidewalk to the catwalk in style.
The below text and photos were provided to me by Maybelline PR:
New York Fashion Week has officially begun for Maybelline, and the brand is absolutely thrilled to be back this season, working backstage with talented makeup artists and teams, and an amazing roster of designers.
Let us take you backstage and discover the runway beauty looks that were created for Marissa Webb and Jonathan Simkhai.
MARISSA WEBB
Below is the makeup sketch to show you the creative vision for the Marissa Webb show:
The makeup at Marissa Webb Fall/Winter 2015 was kept soft and fresh to balance out the collection which was inspired by Bianca Jagger at a boys club.
For a fresh face, Yadim used Dream Wonder Fluid Touch Foundation for the base. He applied Face Studio Master Conceal where needed and around the eyebrows to soften the brow. A taupe shade from The NUDES Palette was used to contour cheeks. Eye Studio Color Molten in Rose Haze gave the cheeks a pink glow.
Yadim added freckles to the cheek bones and the nose lightly with Eye Studio Master Precise Ink Pen Eyeliner and softened them with a brush.
He created a tinted effect on the eye by applying Eye Studio Color Molten in Taupe Craze up to the brow bone and below the lower lash line. Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24 Hour Cream-Gel Shadow in Barely Branded highlighted the inner corners of the eyes and the high plains of the face. To add a slight shimmer, he applied the bronze shade from Eye Studio Color Molten in Endless Mocha to the lid and finished with Baby Lips in Quenched to lighten the effect.
For a less traditional graphic cat eye, Yadim applied the Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner from the middle of the lid outward past the edge of the eye.
Yadim layered Color Sensational Lipcolor in Born With it and Color Sensational The Mattes in Nude Embrace for a soft, pretty, natural-looking lip.

JONATHAN SIMKHAI
The romantic sculptural beauty of the makeup at the Jonathan Simkhai Fall/Winter 2015 show contrasted with the race-track inspired collection.
To create a perfect canvas, Yadim applied FIT me! Foundation across the entire face and Face Studio Master Conceal in areas that needed more coverage.
He contoured the cheeks with a taupe shade from The NUDES Palette. A blend of Color Sensational The Creamy Mattes in Touch of Spice and Daringly Nude gave the cheeks dusty rose finish.
Vadim applied Color Tattoo 24 HR Cream-Gel Shadow in Tough as Taupe and Creamy Beige on the lid up to the brow bone and below the lower lash line. Baby Lips in Quenched gave the eye lid an oil-like shine.
For added definition, Yadim curled the eyelashes and brushed brows up.
Lips were left bare except for a hint of ash in the centre. Yadim lightly tapped the Eye Studio Master Kajal in Charcoal Skies and Midnight Brown in the centre of the lips.

Hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into New York Fashion Week 2015! 🙂

The Marissa Webb photo in red – definitely! And I totally agree about the number 20 dress – wow, it’s gorgeous! It’s the layering that does it for me, I think… I would feel so confident, strong and sexy wearing it…
But the makeup style on the Jonathan Simkhai show does *not* do it for me… I’m all for the ‘natural’ look, but some of the girls look positively ill! I think it’s the eyes, so hollow and shadowed – it uncomfortably reminds me of the whole passé ‘heroin chic’ thing… I prefer to look like I’ve eaten and slept within the last 48 hours!
But thanks for the post, babes – and I now need to scour the net for a copy of that dress… 😉 Tx
Hey TishK!
Glad that you enjoyed the post and that you found a dress that moves you! 🙂 Hope your search for a dupe of that dress is successful!
Wow! Lots of exciting things going on. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Melissa!
My pleasure!
Ahhh, to be around all that makeup…heaven
Hey Sandra!
Hehehehe! Yes, the clouds part, a beam of sunshine comes down, and harps can be heard playing! 😉 YES!
