Misa Phazers on Stunning Swatches & Review

Misa Phazers on Stunning Swatches & ReviewIf nail polish in general speaks to me, then green nail polish speaks to me with a sexy Spanish accent that’s accompanied by a smouldering gaze!

Although Misa Phazers on Stunning is very beautiful and tried to serenade me like a hardcore romantic, it was only like for me, not love or lust.

What stands out about this polish is that it has that ‘glow’ where it catches the light and seems to light up like a firefly.

This is exactly the kind of polish that I love to take to the next level with nail-stamping designs.

Misa Phazers on Stunning Review

Colour

Misa Phazers on Stunning is a vivacious light green that reflects the light so brilliantly that it looks like you’ve capture green light in a bottle!

When you look at the bottle in person, you’ll notice that while the predominant colour is green, the edges are pinkish. I did see this slight shift on my nails, but only sometimes at just the right angle and in just the right dim light. (I was able to capture a glimpse of this shift in my Natural Light Photos.)

To add the illusion of texture, Phazers on Stunning by Misa also has silver speckling throughout.

Finish

This polish is a little tricky for me to categorize, but I’m going to say that it’s a sublte duochrome with micro flakies.

I call the silver speckling micro flakies because when I looked long and hard at them closely, they’re actually irregular-shaped pieces.

At a ‘normal viewing distance’, however, they’ll just look like regular micro-shimmer. This is what adds an unexpected accent to this pretty polish.

Application & Formula

I didn’t fall in love with this polish mainly because of the formula. It was runny and sheer, which made it easier to accidentally flood your cuticles. (If you remember my review on OPI Not Like the Movies, this had a similar formula as that one.)

I used 4 coats, but you could get away with using 3 coats to achieve full opacity.

Pros

  • Pretty green, lit-from-within polish
  • Slight duochrome effect
  • Silver micro flakies
Cons

  • Runny formula makes it easy to flood your cuticles
  • Sheer formula requires at least 3 coats

Final Verdict: 7/10

Since Phazers on Stunning was a green polish, I thought that it would sweep me off my feet, but it didn’t. It’s pretty, but it’s not my favourite green polish.

Did you get any of the colours from the Misa Surreal Escape Collection? What’s your favourite lit-from-within nail polish?

Misa is one of the brands I don’t own. This color looks great but it isn’t something I would buy because I’m more into bright neons and pastels.

I love this color! I am going to have to try this brand. I get so many great recommendations from your blog. I just tried the Seche Vite top coat, and i am in love! Why have i not tried that one before?? I too am a polish fanatic! I am hooked on your blog! Thanks so much for your swatches and reviews! 🙂

      Hey Heather!

So glad that you’ve found my blog posts useful. That’s a huge factor into what motivates me to continue doing this! Thank you!

Woo hoo for the Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat! It really does change the way you polish your nails, doesn’t it?

      Hey Rainbowify Me!

Well, you could get away with using just 3 coats. I just tried 4 coats to experiment and see if it would give the overall look more depth (but it didn’t).

Stamping over this polish with a cool design in black would be really neat. Polishes like this that seem to glow usually look incredible with a Konadicure on top.

      Hey Barbara!

Have you tried many different shades of green? Sometimes it’s only a particular shade that can make you look sickly…like ones that are too yellow, maybe or too pale?

      Hey Katie!

Sounds like you and I are in the same nail-polish boat. (It’s a bit cramped in here, isn’t it? I think I just sat on something. What’s this? Oh yeah…a nail-polish bottle! :P)

I’ve been stalking the collection this came with at Fernanda’s (as I’m hoping to get it for a bit cheaper there). Last time I went, they said this was sold out and they won’t get stock until maybe a month or so. 🙁 Did you get yours at Transdesign? I’m a sucker for duochromes so this is right up my alley! I’d love to see how you jazzed this up with some stamping. 😀

      Hey Carmela!

Hope you can find the collection at Fernanda’s soon since you really like it.

I can’t remember exactly – the store was either Trans Design or Nailsupplies (which are both owned by the same people, but they just have separate websites).

Love the name, not so much the color.

If it were a bit more olive and not quite so sheer, it might be more tempting. As it is, the silver makes it look almost lumpy like it was trying to become a frost but just couldn’t quite pull it off.

      Hey karen!

I understand how you feel completely – it’s one of those polishes that would go from nice to brilliant with just a few minor tweaks.

I wonder if I have a dupe of that. It’s an unnamed LA Colors polish and I was just using it tonight for a base for some nail art. The formula sounds exactly the same although my silver micro flakies are SUPER sparse. I like the color in the bottle but 1) it’s too thin like you said and 2) mine at least is pretty frosty looking, of which I am not a big fan. I love greens too, though, so I had high hopes! Oh well… Now if I could just find Glittering Garland I’d be thrilled! 🙂

      Hey Nicole!

It’s cool how LA Colors has so many dupes (or close-enough colours), yet they’re often way more affordable than the original polishes.

Yes, you need to track down China Glaze Glittering Garland – it’s one of those sexy, vampy greens that looks really edgy.

Wowza! This polish is glowing. And I would like to personally hand you the trophy for quote of the week! “If nail polish in general speaks to me, then green nail polish speaks to me with a sexy Spanish accent that’s accompanied by a smouldering gaze!” OMG Sooooo perfect!

I love how this shade looks on you, even though it made you work for it with four coats. I only have a gold and black Misa thus far, but I do like them both… I think this might be the brand that slowly starts sneaking up on us and slowly infiltrating our Helmers 😉

      Hey Marta!

I never get trophies these days, so I’ll gladly take it! 🙂 Wait, after you hand it to me, may I keep it? Or do I have to give it back? 😉 I think the trophy says “Marta – Nail Stamping Queen”, so it belongs to you!

Yes! Misa is awesome, and I think it was back in 2009 or so when I stopped buying their polishes. They’ve come out with pretty new shades since then that I’m curious to try. But until I get more, I really need to continue looking into my Helmer and trying out the Misas I already have. 🙂

I can’t wait to floss it and polish it every morning. 😉 That would truly be a funny pick-me-up. Feeling down? Look at the trophy that literally says you’re awesome!
