Milani One Coat Glitter Silver Dazzle Review & Swatches

Alright. Let’s see if I can take my eyes off my nails long enough to write this review on Milani One Coat Glitter Silver Dazzle. This charcoal gray decked with silver glitter has my eyes glued to my nails ever since I put it on. (I’ve literally stopped mid-convo to look at my nails.)

At first I couldn’t decide if I like it or not though. Sometimes I think it’s awesome cool that my nails are encrusted with glitter. It totally reminds me of a black sequin dress Tina Turn would wear. Other times I wonder why I’ve painted my nails with black sludge because there’s sooo much glitter that the finish is gritty and uneven…

Milani Silver Dazzle Review

Color

It’s dark. It’s mysterious. It’s perfect. I love charcoal grays/dark silvers like Milani Silver Dazzle because I think it oozes with sexiness. Add to that millions of tiny silver specks, and you’ve got yourself quite a show.

Formula

With sooo much glitter, you might expect it to be really thick to apply. It’s actually not. A bit thicker and goopier than what I’m used to, but it’s still thin enough for an easily workable consistency.

Opacity & Application

One Coat Glitter, huh. I challenged this polish before I applied it because I thought it’d be more transparent than some teen queen’s personality. But surprisingly, Milani Silver Dazzle did great with just one coat… for the most part.

One coat really gives you the color that you see in the swatches. Application was a cinch; however, I find that the polish can go on blotchy. You can avoid that by really loading up the brush with polish to make sure there’s enough to level itself out on the whole nail.

That’s the only thing to watch out for when applying Milani Silver Dazzle One Coat Glitter. Otherwise, you can do it less carefully than other nail polishes since you can’t see any streaks once it dries anyway.

Finish

When it dries (which is really fast), Milani Silver Dazzle Glitter feels like cement. It’s gritty and rough. I thought I liked it like that at first so I didn’t apply a top coat, but it really bothered me after a day!

I definitely, definitely recommend wearing a top coat because 1.) It’ll help protect your manicure, 2.) It’ll even out the uneven finish, and 3.) It brings out the sparkling shine of the silver glitter even more.

You’ll need more than 1 application of top coat though to get rid of the gritty finish. I think 3 would be needed at least for a smooth finish. (So much for the benefits of a One Coat Glitter polish…)

    Pros

  • Easy to apply
  • Sexy color with lots of glitter
  • Only need one coat
  • Free of DBP, toluene & formaldehyde
  • Dries fast
    Cons

  • Gritty & rough finish; need at least 3 TCs
  • Can go on blotchy

Final Verdict: 8.9/10

After applying a 3rd application of top coat, I ended up really liking this color. It’s super glam-rock!

What do you think of this silver sparkly shade? Have you tried another similar color?

Was typing a response to you, Ruthe, and then got distracted by this color on my nails. And now I forgot what I was gonna say. HAHA.
