Milani Jewel FX Silver Review & Swatches

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

Ahhhh! I made a mistake in getting Milani Jewel FX Silver. It’s not because it’s a bad product, but I have a mild phobia of dots and holes (don’t laugh). I didn’t think that the glitter would resemble dots. It creeps me out to look at my nails right now, but I’ll tough it out to do this review.

If I don’t dislike dots, I seriously could adore this Milani nail polish. It adds a beautiful dazzle to the nails and definitely makes any dull color more interesting. Come see what’s good and what’s bad about it! (If you have a serious case of trypophobia, you might not want to look at the picture of the bottle. If you are scared of holes and don’t know what “trypophobia” means, don’t Google it!)

Milani Silver Jewel FX Review

Glitter

Sparkles galore. If you want to spice up a color or add some more attention to an already out-standing shade, then Milani Silver Jewel FX is your pick.

The glitter pieces are substantially big – they’ll seriously bling out your nails. They catch the light at every angle and return a sparkling twinkle. And when strategically applied, this Milani silver glitter top coat can make it look like you’ve put gems on your nails.

Formula

The consistency of Milani FX Silver Jewel is goopier than I’m used to, but that’s because the thicker formula is needed to hold all the glitter. Otherwise, the glitter would just spread all over the place… more than it already does.

Application

I find it hard to use a sweeping motion with this. After applying it, I basically have to use the brush to move the glitter around to where I want it to be. If not, it just all clumps in one place, or it all ends up in the direction of where I’m sweeping.

If you want more glitter in certain spots, just dab the polish there. Applying too many layers of this can make the glitter look clustered. Unless you really want to encrust your entire nail, I suggest starting off with a thin layer of glitter first.

Be careful when you’re applying it though because it dries super fast, as with all glitter polishes. Make sure you don’t have glitter pieces sticking out from your nails when it dries. Since they have sharp edges, they can turn your nails into claws if they stick out!

Finish & Results

After applying the Milani Jewel Silver FX nail lacquer, you’ll get an uneven finish. Like it like that? Then just leave it. If not, go over it with a top coat to smooth it out and to protect it.
I like it with a top coat because it adds an extra layer of glisten to my nails. It’s really pretty… until I notice that the glitters resemble dots.

Lasting Power?

Sorry I can’t give details about the lasting power of Milani Silver Glitter Polish. I removed it from my nails as soon as I finished this post. I got creeped out. Am I weird?

Removal

Speaking of removing it, yah, it takes a lot of effort because it’s a glitter polish. Some tricks:

  • Pour polish remover into a container and soak your fingers.
  • Soak cotton balls in remover, place them on your nails, and wrap them in aluminum foil for 5 to 10 minutes.

Whichever trick you use, you’re going to need more polish remover and time! Just make sure to moisturize your fingers afterwards.

    Pros

  • Beautiful sparkling glitters
  • Makes nail colors more interesting
  • Free of DBP, toluene & formaldehyde
  • Dries fast
    Cons

  • Hard to apply
  • Hard to remove

Final Verdict: 7.1/10

I don’t like this polish, but it’s only for a personal odd reason. If you like that gem-like sparkle, you’ll love Milani Silver Jewel Polish. It instantly adds lots of visual interest to your nails. I can definitely see this on top of a black nail polish!

What do you think of this dotted polish? Love or hate? Sound off below!

      Hi Nivedita!

I checked the spam folder, and it must’ve been cleared before I was able to retrieve them. I’m so sorry your comments got lost; we very much appreciate you commenting on our blog. I will make a point to check the spam box every night to make sure nothing valuable gets lost. 🙁

Hehe, you might only be a little weird about the dots-phobia 😛 lol kidding. How long did the shipping from Cherry Culture take to reach you?

      Hi F! 🙂

      That’s OK. I know I’m weird! ahhaa

It usually takes a little over 2 weeks for my Cherry Culture orders to arrive. It’s about average since stuff shipping over the border usually takes a while. If you’re looking to purchase from CC, make sure you wait for the 20% off sale! They have it so frequently. 😛

Odd… I wonder why your most recent post isn’t showing up on CommentLuv.

Oh my, I love this polish and want it so badly! But it’s not available in Holland, so it’s a no-go for me, unfortunately.

      Hi Ilse!

Oh, that sucks! I know how you feel about wanting beauty products that aren’t available in your country. I’m always envious of the States.

I hope Milani or Cherry Culture includes Holand in their list of ship-to countries soon. 🙁

I am in love with the Milani Jewel Fx polishes right now and wish I could find them somewhere in Canada (Vancouver specifically)! I checked cherry culture and milani but the shipping amount was insane! Do you know of any sites or places in Canada that might have them?

      Hey Alison!

When Fiona wrote that post (she no longer blogs anymore), she was getting all her Milani polishes from Cherry Culture.

They’re really tough to find in physical stores in Canada. Sometimes you can find them in random bins in discount nail stores, but they’re not reliable sources. Cherry Culture’s shipping fees to Canada are reasonable, but only if you buy a bunch of things at once and not just a single bottle. My tip is to wait for Cherry Culture to have a coupon-code sale. They have one every few months usually for anywhere from 15-25% off. If you order a bunch of other stuff, oftentimes, the coupon code balances out the shipping, too.

If anyone else in Canada is reading this and has seen the polish in a physical Canadian store, please reply to Alison’s comment to let her know! Thanks!
