Yesssss, songbird Mariah Carey teamed up with OPI! Will it be a high note in her career? We’ll find out soon enough!
The Mariah Carey by OPI Collection contains 8 limited-edition shades with a unique texture they’re coining ‘Liquid Sands’. (Read all about it in the press release!)
There are 2 subgroups in this collection: the Studio Shades and the Stage Shades.
I’m a fan of Mariah Carey because, damn, that woman can blow!
Mainly, though, I’m a fan of her earlier work (i.e. her self-titled album, Emotions, Music Box, and Daydream), although I do like a lot of her newer songs. (Back in the day, I feel like her voice was clearer, and she did less ‘whisper-singing’.)
To date, I have all of her albums (except for Glitter or Greatest Hits), and as long as she keeps putting out new songs, I will keep buying her CDs. She’s so talented, and although there are other great voices in the industry, she has an undeniably unique gift.
Out of all the colours in this collection, I’m most drawn to the Stage Shades. 😉 Stay the Night and Get Your Number are making me drool from just the bottle images!
Once again, OPI’s PR has something en route to me, and it’ll be a surprise. I wonder which one(s) they sent! 🙂 Of course I’ll wear them and share my thoughts with you all!
P.S. This is unrelated, but…I wish that Lana Del Rey would team up with OPI and have a nail-polish collection. That would be incredible!
There are 8 colours in the Mariah Carey by OPI Collection.
Studio Shades:
- A Butterfly Moment
- Sprung
- Pink Yet Lavender
- Anti-bleak

OPI Partners with Multi-Platinum International Superstar Mariah Carey to Launch Limited Edition Shades, Featuring the Revolutionary New Liquid Sand™ Nail Lacquers
OPI announces the launch of eight new limited edition shades inspired and hand-selected by multiple Grammy Award winning recording artist Mariah Carey. These shades include four new OPI Liquid Sand™ lacquers featuring groundbreaking technology for a textured, matte finish infused with reflective sparkle.
“OPI is extremely excited to work with Mariah,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “She’s very passionate about beauty and her nails in particular. Her music, which includes 18 Billboard No. 1 singles, served as a wonderful inspiration for glamorous, sultry, vibrant colors.
“To pay homage to her iconic status, we wanted to launch her collection with something completely new and exciting. OPI Liquid Sand nail lacquer offers a never-before-seen look with a pebbled finish that lightly shimmers with fine glitter particles. Worn without top coat, Liquid Sand lacquer gives nails a unique textured matte finish worthy of a superstar.”
Mariah Carey by OPI includes four Studio Shades – ranging from pink glitter to rich plum crème – and four Stage Shades – each featuring the new textured finish. Studio Shades include: A Butterfly Moment (This sophisticated and frosty tan nude has us all a-flutter), Sprung (Fall hopelessly in love with this shimmery copper), Pink Yet Lavender (This pink glitter with lavender shimmer has superstar shine!), and Anti-bleak (This deep, creamy purple will lift your spirits).

Hey Randi!
The names of Lana Del Rey’s songs are just so perfect for nail polishes, too. Who knows? Maybe it’ll happen!
I cant wait to see the swatches on these, the sand ones I am thinking are really pretty in the bottle but would have to see!

Hey Amanda!
I really hope that the finish really translates well on the nail. *Fingers crossed* *Toes crossed* *Eyes crossed*
These polishes look cool. I want the whole stage set and Pink Yet Lavender. Actually, I want everything. What exactly is the liquid sand stuff? I’m just confused but the colours are pretty amazing.
Hey maddy!
Hahahaha, “Actually, I want everything.” You summed up the life of a nailphile. 😉 I know that feeling all too well, to the disappointment of my wallet.
From what I understand, the Liquid Sand is a matte and texturized finish that still sparkles somehow. I’ll know for sure when I try them out, and then I’ll do my best to explain it in detail in a future blog post. 🙂
I’m not a fan of Mariah Carey, but I am curious about this “liquid sand” thing. It makes me think it’s going to be a mix of gritty sparkly glitter and gritty matte glitter :/ I’m hoping thats not the case. I’m really interested in Stay the night.

Hey Frosso!
Yes, it’ll probably be gritty like texturized concrete. But, I’ll have to try it to know for sure. I wonder if they’ll be easy or hard to remove. I’m guessing hard, but I’m hoping to be wrong.
Oh wow, I’m totally with you on being more excited about the stage shades! Those look incredible!

Hey Fedoraharp!
Psst! I just posted a quick bottle shot of OPI Get Your Number on Instagram today, and it’s gorgeous! 🙂 Really interesting how much it sparkles.
