MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipglass Swatches & Review

You may remember me previously raving about the MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipstick back in February.

Today, I bring you a MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipglass review!

MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipglass ReviewBought both Gaga 2 lip products at the same time and since then have been alternating between them.

The beauty of the lip gloss is that it makes your pout feel good, and it adds shine for that va-va-voom dimension. I was thrilled that the MAC lipglass was very much like the Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick I loved – it’s an easy-to-wear peachy nude lip gloss that doesn’t leave me looking like the Corpse Bride.

And, although most people already know, I still have to say it – all the proceeds from the sales of this product go to the MAC AIDS Fund that helps women, men, and children who are living with AIDS and HIV. So not only are you getting a wonderful new lip color, but you’re also supporting a very good cause.

MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipglass Review

Lip glosses are my favorites because you can wear them solo or use them over a lipstick to transform the color and to add depth and hydration.

Color

This MAC Gaga 2 lipgloss is the perfect neutral shade – it’s not dead. There’s some peachiness to it that keeps your pout from looking washed out (if you have a similar skin tone as I do – NC20).

Also, there are small shimmer particles that bring life to your lips, but they’re not obnoxious or very noticeable – it’s very subtle and work-appropriate. No disco-ball Superglass lips here!

I find it very easy to wear, and I was pleased that it’s very pigmented. When I slick this on, the color shows up nicely on my lips.

Formula

The formula is of a medium consistency – not watery and not thick or goopy. It’s also not sticky (like MAC Dazzleglasses are).

Wand

Lots of people I know prefer brushes instead of doe-foot or sponge applicators, but I prefer the latter.

The MAC Gaga II Lipglass has a doe-foot applicator that gives me the right amount of product and greater control. But, yes, this type of applicator does soak up product. That’s something I can deal with.

Lasting Power

I got about 2 hours of wear without eating or drinking before I felt the need to reapply. The shine started to fade at the 1-hour mark, but I wore it for another hour because the color was still there.

Fragrance

The MAC Lady Gaga 2 lipgloss smells just like any other MAC lip product – vanilla cake batter! It’s such a delicious (and soft) scent that makes me look forward to reapplying this.

Price & Accessibility

Unfortunately, everything from MAC costs significantly more than drugstore makeup, which turns off a lot of shoppers. Sure, it’s not high-end like Givenchy or Chanel, but to me, I consider MAC to be quite a splurge and not a brand that I can indulge in too often lest I make my piggy bank squeal.

Another important thing to note is that the MAC Lady Gaga 2 Lipglass is limited-edition. You’ll be able to find these readily for a while, but if you’re really lemming this color, go get it before it sells out and isn’t restocked.

MAC AIDS Fund

When you buy this lip gloss or the MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipstick, the proceeds go to the MAC AIDS Fund, which helps those who are dealing with AIDS and HIV.

Lady Gaga Collectible Packaging

If you’re a makeup collector or a fan of Lady Gaga, you’ll really appreciate the extra mile MAC’s design team took to come out with the special packaging.

Lady Gaga’s signature and a star are emblazoned across the MAC cardboard box in a bright metallic red. And the same is done on the actual tube.

    Pros
  • Pretty & easy-to-wear peachy nude
  • Proceeds go to the MAC AIDS Fund
  • Provides a glossy finish
  • Not sticky
  • Delicious vanilla cake batter fragrance
  • Perfect color to pair with smokey eyes
  • Collectible Lady Gaga packaging (with autograph)
    Cons
  • Limited edition
  • More expensive than your typical drugstore lipgloss
  • Lasts for a couple of hours & requires reapplication (but that’s normal with glosses)

Final Verdict: 9.5/10

If you loved the Gaga 2 lipstick but are more of a lip-gloss lover, you’ll really want to get hold of this. It’s the perfect medium between a gloss and a lipstick – shiny finish and good pigmentation.

What’s your favorite nude lipstick/lip gloss? Do you think that MAC products are overpriced? How much would you pay for a lip product you absolutely love and wear every single day?

        Hey Alaeis,

I usually do, too. So when I found that there was something different about this one, I was thrilled!

You may be surprised with the lipglass (compared to the lipstick) – you can sheer it out a little if full-on coverage is too much. Plus I find the shine makes this nude more wearable.

It’s funny how people rave about so many MAC nudes that always make me look dead. Then the one nude I love and can pull off (at least I think so…hehe), makes a lot of other people look dead.

Was actually thinking about buying back-ups because I can see myself wearing the lipglass and lipstick often since I wear smokey eyes nearly every day!

      Hey Kee,

Yeah, it can be really tough to find a nude lipstick that doesn’t completely wash out your face. MAC Myth and even MAC Creme d’Nude look pretty ghastly on me, and I’m trying to figure out what glosses to layer over them so they’re not a total waste. Might trying putting MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 Lipglass over them to see if it helps.

      Any suggestions?

P.S. I bought Nubar polishes from the place we were talking about, and they still had the buy 6, get the 7th one free deal! Woo hoo! 😀

Unfortunately the only lip product that I have that s somewhat neutral is Mary Kay lipstick in Sweet Nectar. I actually don’t look dead lol. All others are colour, colour, colour!

Ooohhh did you end up going to the actual store? What did you get? Are you gonna do a haul post? =)

Yes, and it was like heaven! Harps should’ve been playing. I made a beeline to the Nubar section, of course. Ended up getting some glitter top coats (e.g. Tiara), some blues, a brown (which is unusual for me because I rarely like browns), back-up of Reclaim, etc. Also got a nail-art kit and a dotting tool.

Would you want to see a haul post with photos? I could do that. And to all the readers out there, is this a type of post you’d be interested in seeing regularly? Fiona and I buy a lot of beauty products regularly, so this definitely has potential.

Maybe we could call the series “Haul of Shame” or something…What do you all think?

Oooohhhh sounds great! I wanted Marabout but it was part of a collection. =( I also want a back-up of Reclaim! I gotta go back there lol! That store is bananas! Now I’ve got two stores from where I get my polish hauls. The other one sells China Glaze for $3.50 and OPI for $5.99 if you spend at least $20.

I definitely want to see “Haul of Shame” posts! I’d love to see what you guys get, kind of like a preview of future posts to come!
