Loose Button May 2012 Luxe Box Review & Pictures

Loose-Button-May-2012-Luxe-Box-Review-PicturesNormally I post my Loose Button Luxe Box reviews within the same month that I receive them, but this time, I got mine pretty close to the end of May, which was a bit hectic. So that’s why I’m posting my Loose Button May 2012 Luxe Box review in June.

Compared to the boxes I received from them in the past, this one was disappointing. None of the samples wowed me. Most made me yawn, to be brutally honest.

Yes, it’s a matter of preference, and not all boxes each month will be the same level, but I expected more from Loose Button.

However, there was one item that intrigued me. Want to know what it was? Come find out!

This month’s box was much taller than the usual one, so I was really curious to find out what was inside.

For the May Luxe Box, they gave 2 boxes!

As usual, the sleeve slides out to reveal the contents.

I’ve always liked how the sticker is personalized. Very thoughtful!

The Luxe Box has some of these black crinkle-folded paper strips at the bottom.

See the little card above the tube? It measures the freshness of the lip gloss when you insert it into the slot on the cap. (See photo below for the slot.)

Loose Button May 2012 Luxe Box Review

Packaging

As usual, Luxe Box has very stylish and sleek packaging. The black box is elegant and features the white Loose Button logo on the front and tiled on the inside. There’s a sleeve that slides out to reveal the contents.

This month, they included a bath and body white box. This one doesn’t have a sleeve. It’s your standard type of box with flaps.

The one significant criticism about the packaging is that it isn’t the most environmentally-friendly packaging. The boxes shipped in another box (cardboard one).

Products

Cargo Blu_ray High Definition Lip Gloss

The colour I got was a peachy nude. I’ve never tried any Cargo lip products before, so I’m curious to see how this will fare. It claims to make your lips look better under HD filming.

What intrigues me the most about this product is that it comes with a little card that you’re supposed to insert into the slot at the top of the cap. You use it to tell how fresh the gloss still is. I think that’s pretty interesting, and it’s not something you see all the time. (Regardless if it’s a gimmick or not, it sure got my attention.)

Olay Regenerist Wrinkle Revolution Complex

Anti-aging products make me yawn, and I’ve never used any before even though tons of my friends have been using them for years (heck, even back in high school)!

This is a sample that I’ll probably hand over for my mom to try.

Paco Rabanne Black XS & XS L’Exces

I wasn’t too happy to see tiny fragrance vials. After subscribing to Loose Button for several months, it seems like I have tons of vials. Plus one of these is a cologne for men. (I have no idea who I’m going to give that one to…)

Fekkai Advanced Salon Technician Color Care Shampoo, Conditioner & Rapid Results Moisture Mask

While haircare isn’t the most exciting beauty product for me to try, I do appreciate these samples. They’ve included two of each, and Fekkai is a good brand – also, it’s a brand that I’ve never tried before and am curious about.

I’m really interested in trying the moisture mask since my hair really craves deep hydration.

Gillette Venus Olay Razor

Even though I received a razor before in a previous Luxe Box, I didn’t mind getting a Gillette one this time. Since I never wax and always shave, extra razors are always appreciated. At least I know that I’ll actually use this sample, unlike the fragrance vials and anti-aging cream.

Pros

  • Interesting Cargo lip gloss
  • Sleek packaging
  • Personalization
Cons

  • Personally, most of the samples didn’t excite me (lacked that Wow Factor)

Final Verdict: 4/10

Despite there being two boxes for May, I felt that the samples really had no pizzazz. Sure, the Cargo lip gloss was something I hadn’t seen before, but that alone wasn’t enough to make me pumped up about this box.

What did you get in your Luxe Box? How long have you been a subscriber of a beauty box? Do you like the element of surprise with these type of services?

whoa, you got a whole bunch of different stuff than I did o_O Although I’m still waiting for the second box to come. That’s so cool with the lipgloss indicator thingy. I got the Lash Activator Duo from Cargo instead, that’s supposed to lengthen your lashes over a period of time. I didn’t get Olay Regenerist, but I did get a full size Nubar nail polish (which I was so happy about) 😀 And I also got shampoo/conditioner for colored hair but a different brand.

But anyways, I guess it’s good to know that they really do personalize it to each individual, just like it says on the sticker. It’s neat to see all the different things every one gets.

      Hey Lawren!

How weird! They shipped just one box at a time? :S

*Gasp* You got a full-size Nubar polish? That’s amazing! Which shade?

I have no idea why they’d do that, but it’s good to know I”m getting something extra to look forward to.

The shade is called Love Rainbow. It’s a pale blue/green color :3

I’m not too wowed by this either….Cargo products never really excite me. The panty subscription is soooooo ….weird lol. I’d rather pick out my own intimates.

      Hey Frosso!

Cargo products rarely excite me, and I think it’s because the packaging isn’t extremely cute or eye-catching. It’s very simple and minimalist. Nothing wrong with that, but I respond the most to beauty products that scream at me and throw things at the back of my head. 😉

Hahaha, yeah, the panty subscription card made me laugh when I first saw it. I immediately pictured some dirty old man subscribing. :S

      Hey Icequeen81!

I have a signature fragrance that I’m pretty hooked on (have been for years), so that’s why seeing the Black XS samples didn’t excite me…and they were small vials. 🙁

I’m still waiting on the second box (they shipped mine separately!) so I haven’t put up my unboxing post yet. I’m hoping not to get that Olay sample as I already got it in a different box. I’m actually excited about the Cargo lip gloss because the packaging really intrigues me! Plus, it’s always good to support local brands. 😀 As for the other samples, I echo your frustration. Some (most?) of the brands just aren’t “premium” or “luxury” ones. I’m thinking they’ve partnered with P&G hence the prevalence of their products (Olay, Pantene, Gillette Venus). :S Though my biggest beef is not getting a full-sized nail polish to date!

      Hey Carmela!

That’s very odd how Loose Button shipped the boxes separately. Maybe they forgot to include it? :S Seems like it happened to others, too.

You’re probably right aboutu the P&G partnership. Makes sense why they’re always promoting those brands.

Wow, no full-sized nail polish yet? That stinks! Hope you get it in a future box if you’re still with them.
