The February 2012 Luxe Box comes in a limited-edition red box (instead of the regular black one).
They’ve partnered up with FLARE magazine, which is interesting. I’m curious to see what other partnerships they’ll develop this year.
I think that Loose Button should keep switching up the colour and/or pattern on their Luxe Boxes. It keeps it looking fresh and less predictable.

Loose Button February 2012 Luxe Box Review
Packaging
I like the red box because it’s bold, it gets your attention, and it looks livelier than their regular black boxes. Don’t get me wrong – I like how sleek the black box is, but seeing a vibrant colour is a great pick-me-up.
Since they partnered with FLARE magazine, I thought it was cute how the tissue paper said FLARE on it.
pureDKNY Eau de Parfum
I was really pleased to see a mini bottle of this perfume instead of just a tiny little vial that you can get for free at a counter. Seems like Loose Button’s listening to the complaints that people had in the past and are taking a step in the right direction.
I haven’t worn this fragrance yet, but just smelling it from the bottle, I can tell you that this is a more mature scent than I’m used to wearing.
It doesn’t smell like an old lady, but my typical taste in perfume tends to be sweet, vanilla-based, and edible-smelling – very youthful.
Hehe, so this is very different. I’m looking forward to trying it out, but I think I’ll use it for more formal occasions. It smells clean and sexy – I don’t own anything like it.
Also, the bottle doesn’t have a spray. It just has a plug under the cap.
Dermalogica Microfoliant
I’ve used scrubs before, but never an exfoliant powder. This should be interesting to experiment with.
The container reminds me of baby-powder packaging.
Redken Color Extend
My hair is natural – I don’t dye my hair, so perhaps I’m not the best person to test out this product. I’ll still use it, though.
I like how they included 3 packages each of the shampoo and conditioner, however, I would’ve preferred to get actual bottles instead of packages. The little packages can sometimes be tricky to open in the shower when your hands are wet.
Cargo Lash Activator
I’ve never tried anything from Cargo, so I’m curious about this. However, I don’t wear mascara…so I’ll probably just give this one away.

Final Verdict: 7.5/10
Although I wasn’t blown away by the February 2012 Luxe Box, I did appreciate how they included a mini bottle of perfume and a powder exfoliant that I’m curious to try.
Do you like any DKNY perfumes? Have you tried any Dermalogica products?
This box sounds good enough, even though I’m not really excited about it. Hope you’ll get a good use of the products! Have a happy Friday! 😉

Hey Jennifer!
I can’t wait to test-drive the perfume, actually. It’s so far away from my comfort zone, but sometimes it’s nice to experiment with different scents.
HAPPY FRIDAY! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I never really liked what I got for my luxebox for this month. Except for the small sample of Moroccan oil that people have been raving about and a bottle of china glaze nail polish. 🙂

Hey Abby!
Oh, it’s cool that you got Moroccan Oil! That’s definitely something I would’ve loved to get. I’m almost done my bottle, and I need to go buy some more. That stuff works like a charm, and I love how it doesn’t leave your hair sticky or greasy.
You got nail polish this month? LUCKY! What colour?
I am super excited about getting a whiff of the DKNY scent. I love the smell of Lemon Verbena!

Hey Stella!
After I try it out a few times, I’ll have to review it. It’s a far cry from my typical ‘immature’ fragrances I tend to sport!
I received boxes from Loose Button, Glymm and Topbox this month. I have to say I was mostly underwhelmed by all 3 boxes, but of the 3, Loose Button was the best.
Hey Nicole!
Sorry to hear that you were underwhelmed. Hope that in March they wow you! (And that’s awesome how you have subscriptions to all three!)
Huh. I just got my Luxe Box myself (unboxing post on Monday!) and I’m a little surprised that we actually got a few things different. I got the Dermalogica exfoliant too (really excited to test drive that one) and the Cargo mascara (which I’ve been meaning to try but getting put off by the price so definitely happy to get that) but none of the Redken or the fragrance. Just as well, I guess, as I’ve already used Redken and swear by it for color treated hair (red tones last longer when I’m using it). I would’ve wanted to get the fragrance sample (generous size!) tho instead of one of the samples I got… Still, it was a pretty good box for me. 🙂

Hey Carmela!
I’m excited to see your unboxing! 😀 I’ll stop by your blog on Monday. It’s really cool how not everyone gets the same thing – keeps it a big surprise.
The only DKNY perfume I’ve smelled is Be Delicious, which I loved! I never purchased any though.

Hey MariJo!
I know that I’ve smelled their apple scent, but I’ve never actually tried it on. In the bottle, it was yummy, though!
I have tried the Dermalogica stuff before and I LOVED it! I had really bad/dry skin on my eyes at the time and it sorted it out in no time! I wouldn’t say you need as much as it says tbh. I had a small sachet and it lasted me for ages! I hope you like it too and would be interested to know what you think once you’ve used it.

Hey Robyn!
Good to know that it worked well for you – I’m excited to try it. The packaging is very different than that of any other skincare product I’ve tried.
After using it for a bit, I’ll probably review it. 🙂
It really is pretty in the red box.
The pureDKNY actually sounds enticing. I adore verbena and frequently burn lemongrass-verbena wax cubes in my bedroom to keep it smelling fresh and cozy.
Carmela is right about the Redken shampoo and conditioner. I’ve used the one for colored hair and the one for body and they do really great things for hair.
Even though I don’t wear make-up, the idea of a mascara that encourages lash growth sounds interesting. At my age, the hair on my legs and underarms aren’t the only ones that are thinning out.
Have fun trying your products. Can’t wait to hear what you think of the Redken stuff!
Hey karen!
Haha, now I want to dye my hair just to test out the haircare. 😛 Just kidding! But, actually, I may give it to my mom. I dye her hair black often, so if she uses this shampoo and conditioner, it would test it out better than I could with my natural hair.
I also got the microexfoliant and love it – I have their skin smoothing cream which is heavenly! My perfume was different and so were my other two products. I liked how they mixed it up for different people!

Hey Margo!
Wow, you got a China Glaze polish – LUCKY! 🙂 And the CHI Silk Infusion sample looks cool, too.
I got my first Luxe Box on Tuesday, so exciting! I got the Cargo mascara as well, tried it on for an evening – not bad! I also like the idea of it improving the health of my lashes, I’ll have to see if it makes a difference… A bit jealous of your mini perfume!
Hey Heather!
YAY for getting your first Luxe Box! 🙂
Oh, you didn’t get any perfume? I’ve seen some other people’s unboxing and they got a cute mini bottle of a Nina perfume. (I’m glad, though, that I didn’t get that because I really didn’t like the Nina eau de parfum samples I got in the past. This DKNY one is much better.)
You got a great selection, the mini perfume is adorable.
I keep getting repeats of everything they’ve already sent me. Boo!
Bailey recently posted: Review: Lush Massage Bars
Hey Bailey!
That’s strange how they’d keep repeating items. Maybe you should e-mail them to let them know. The whole point of this service is so that you can try new items, not just getting a rotation of the same things! :S
The Dermalogica Microfoliant is my favourite exfoliant of all time, and I’ve used a lot as I’ve been in the spa industry for almost 10 years. I’ve owned a professional size cannister of it for the last 6 years or so, and I still have tons left. It’s an awesome buy even at the steep price….you’ll never look back. That sample size will last you a couple years or more.
Hey Amanda!
Great to hear that it has worked wonders for you and that you love it so much. Wow, that’s awesome how the sample size will last me so long. (It’s good for my wallet, too!) 😉
My Luxe Box had different samples in it – and I am VERY jealous of yours!
I received the Cargo mascara, but then I received a TINY sample of OLAY Regenerist cream, a small sample of DDF advanced firming cream and a teeny little vial of Moroccan hair oil.
Very disappointing.
I have a completely filled out beauty profile but I didn’t get anything I had hoped for…
Hey Trish!
Yeah, I wouldn’t be too pleased about receiving an Olay cream, either. Makeup, nail polish, fragrance, and haircare excite me a lot more than skincare.
If you’re sticking with them, maybe next month the samples will agree with you more. 🙂
