L’Oreal HiP Concentrated Shadow Duo Review – Wicked

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

The L’Oreal HiP Concentrated Shadow Duo in Wicked is my third product from the HiP collection. I’ve previously tried the Metallic and Bright Duos, neither of which quite blew me out of the water.

I went with Wicked because I have such a soft spot for purples. And I just had to have this vibrant purple that looks like an amethyst gem! So…my thoughts on this L’Oreal HiP shadow?

L’Oreal HiP Concentrated Shadow Duo Wicked Review

When I do my makeup in a rush, I hate thinking about which colors go with what. That’s why L’Oreal HiP Shadow Duos are great – the double shades that come in a single product complement each other very well!

And L’Oreal HiP Concentrated Wicked shadows are no exception. The shimmery bronzy gold contrasts the almost-matte dark-plumy purple beautifully. But you can certainly wear them separately with other shades as well.

However, I expected the colors to be more intense than they actually are. After all, the product is called “Concentrated”! A bit of a disappointment for me in this department. If you want to intensify the hues, you’ll need to apply more layers or dampen your brush to bring out the concentration.

But even still, I must say that I much prefer these to the L’Oreal HiP Bright Shadow Duo. These actually stay put, even without a base or eyeshadow primer. I don’t have to worry about ugly crease lines in the middle of the day with the L’Oreal Concentrated shadows! Plus, the purple wears nicely as a liner without melting off.

Whether you use a brush or your finger, the L’Oreal HiP Wicked shadows go on smoothly and evenly. This means less time trying to perfect your look in the morning. Bonus.

Or you can try using the sponge applicator that it comes with. Personally, I never bother with sponge applicators – I find the sponge absorbs more product than it distributes. What a waste!

    Pros
  • Beautiful colors
  • Shadows stay put & don’t crease
  • Smooth application
  • Easy-to-wear shades that complement all skin tones
    Cons
  • Not as concentrated as the product is marketed as

Final Verdict: 8.5/10

If you’re looking to try L’Oreal HiP shadows and don’t know which line to go for, I definitely recommend the Concentrated ones. They are easy to work with, go on smoothly and stay on well. I think I’m going to give the other shades on this line a try.

Which shades do you want to test out?
