Illamasqua Noble Swatches & Review

Illamasqua-Noble-Swatches-ReviewThe amazing Illamasqua team did it again – I came home to find a surprise package that instantly lifted my spirits!

Inside was Illamasqua Noble, which the handwritten note said was the latest addition to Sephora counters!

It came at a good time because, that night, I was already planning on changing my polish. No need to rummage through my bottles and decide. Illamasqua gave me the perfect polish to wear. No “I don’t have anything to wear” moment. 😉

Unfortunately, the weather was gloomy when I had my camera handy, so I couldn’t get any sunlight photos. And for some strange reason, I wasn’t able to accurately capture the colour despite fiddling around with many settings. (It is not a wintry blue like it appears in my photos! It’s a robin’s egg blue!)

I was so desperate to capture the true colour that I even took some shots in artificial lighting in my bathroom in hopes that it might help. (Yeah! That’s usually the worst lighting, but desperate times call for desperate measures, as they say…)

What a travesty, though, because I wish I could’ve shown you the true colour. To make up for it, I tried to describe the shade as best as I could in this post. And, although my photos don’t do this polish any justice, I hope that they’re helpful if only to see the finish and how smoothly and evenly the polish applies.

Illamasqua Noble Review

Colour

Noble by Illamasqua is a fresh robin’s egg blue – exactly what they claim. So please don’t think this polish is a pale or whitened blue. In real life, it’s saturated, vibrant, and not anaemic at all. It’s like a more vibrant Smurf blue with a drop of green.

It’s so fresh that if it were any fresher, it’d offer to buy you a drink at the bar after complimenting you on how beautiful your eyes are. 😉

This blue reminds me of what I imagine water looks like in fantasy books – vivid, full of life, and it’s the kind of blue that provides a lot of contrast for a brilliant pop of colour!

In person, it’s about 2-3 shades darker than what you see in my photos.

It’s the type of colour that’s going to get noticed by everyone, even though it’s not a neon. Seriously! The first day I wore it to work, a co-worker came into my office and stopped mid-sentence what she was saying to tell me that she liked the colour of my nail polish! 😀 Then we had a few minutes of beauty talk before talking about work-related topics…hehe!

If you have China Glaze Aqua Baby, it’s a similar type of blue. It’s the kind that’s saturated enough to flatter many different skin tones from light to rich.

Finish

The wonderful creme finish is simple, but anything but boring! When a nail polish has a powerful colour like this one does, the finish can be just a creme, but it still packs a powerful punch like Bruce Lee and his fists of fury!

Noble by Illamasqua also dries to a beautiful shine without the assistance of a top coat. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

For some reason, in my photos, you can’t see just how shiny it is. In person it’s so stunning. My nails literally looked like I was wearing plastic fake nails – in a good way because they looked incredibly smooth.

Application & Formula

Well, Illamasqua did it again with an impressive formula! It went on smoothly and evenly. It wasn’t too thick or too thin in consistency – just right! It was easy to control, and you’ll just need 2 coats for complete coverage. This polish was a dream to work with!

Pros

  • Fresh robin’s egg blue
  • Dries shiny
  • Requires just 2 coats for full coverage
Cons

  • More expensive than your average nail polish (but I think the excellent formula & colour are worth it)

Final Verdict: 10/10

Illamasqua is quickly becoming one of my all-time favourite nail-polish brands because their formulas are incredibly easy to work with, and they offer a lot of different colours. Plus even the bottle itself is pretty cool – looks classy, sophisticated, different, and edgy.

If you don’t already have something similar, I highly recommend you try this one. It’s the hassle-free way to get beautiful nails!

Is Illamasqua becoming one of your favourite brands, too? What’s your favourite polish by Illamasqua? Have you ever seen a robin’s egg in person?

Edit: Yay! Illamasqua retweeted my blog post to their Twitter followers! 😀

      Hey TeresaNC!

Yes, Illamasqua has a secret formula. Somehow, they always churn out perfection and make it look effortless. Yes, it’s better in person – more vivid and less wintry. I got so many unsolicited compliments on this polish in person, so you can tell it’s a winner!

      Hey Marisa!

I’m glad to hear that! It would look great on you as well. I can’t picture who this polish wouldn’t look good on, actually…Gotta love a universally flattering colour.

I love when this company does a great cream that is so color saturated. I would soooo trade you my weather for yours right now…sick of hot end of summer here, enough all ready. I want no so much to stow my shorts and sandals as I do just to have cooler weather, some great foggy nights and those lovely days of fall with walks on the beach and also up in the sycamores and redwood forests. I do have Aquadellic – but this is looking deeper blue to me – one that I might be able to wear because it’s not chalky. The chalky blues give me lobster hands.

      Hey beachgal!

Okay, let’s do it – trade weather. Although I love autumn, lately it’s been overcast and gloomy. We even got some rain. I love the fall when it’s crisp, but dry and sunny. Yes, I’m picky! 😉

In person, Illamasqua Noble is closer to China Glaze Aqua Baby. It’s definitely a deeper blue…like if a Smurf got a tan…hehe! (Sorry, but that was the first thing that came to mind now, and I can’t think of how else to describe it. :P) Definitely this isn’t a chalky blue at all in person. It’s a lot darker than OCC Pool Boy, if that helps!

      Hey Melissa!

If you love my mediocre photos of it, you’ll seriously fall in lust with it when you see it in person! It’s more saturated and vivd!

      Hey Brianna!

If there’s only one Illamasqua polish you try, I reallllly recommend you get Charisma or Noble. Those two are particularly amazing!

    Hi 🙂
Amazing swatch of an amazing color!
I really think I need to get it. I am wondering though, any chance you could make a comparison between Noble and Serenity – the rubber finish illamasqua? Do you have it?
I really can’t decide which of the two I want, but I would love to have the lighter shade of them.
Thanks again for a wonderful wonderful swatch and review!

      Hey Jin!

Oh, I don’t have Illamasqua Serenity, so I can’t do a proper comparison. But from what I remember when I saw it at Sephora, it was a lovely sky blue. Noble is also bright, but it’s more of a robin’s egg blue meaning that although it’s predominantly blue, I think there’s a little bit of green because it’s not just a wintry light blue. And then there’s the finish – Noble dries glossy even on its own.

If I had to recommend just one of the two, I would say go for Noble instead of Serenity. It has that slight drop of green that makes it really flattering on many different skin tones. I got a lot of unsolicited compliments while wearing this one! Hmm…but you want the lighter one of the two? They’re both bright and saturated, but I think that Serenity might be slightly lighter.

        Thank you so much!
I think I am going to take your suggestion and go for Noble. The way you describe it, it sounds more unique then Serenity! 😀
        Thanks again!

Gorgeous colour! But every time I see a fab Illamasqua polish swatched I’m disappointed I can’t get my hands on it 🙁 Oh how I wish the Sephora stores here in Ottawa carried Illamasqua plus the Sephora website won’t ship it to Canada – boooo!

      Hey Karen!

Oh, that’s too bad your Sephora stores don’t carry Illamasqua. That stinks! I thought that all Sephoras were supposed to carry this brand by now.

Have you tried ordering directly from the Illamasqua website?
