Illamasqua Cameo is another shade that’s new to Sephora.
It’s a gorgeous periwinkle that I think would create a lovely base for wintry nail art.
But that’s not to say this polish isn’t fabulous when worn solo! While it may not have any glitter, it takes to the nail stage like a diva singing that high note.
I very much enjoyed wearing this nail polish, and oddly I don’t have many periwinkle nail polishes in my collection, so I was really happy to have this one!

Illamasqua Cameo Review
Colour
If Illamasqua Noble (which I previously reviewed) was too bright for you, I think you may prefer Cameo because it’s a slightly more mature colour. I actually love both of them equally, but because I don’t have many periwinkle polishes in my stash, I’m really cherishing Cameo!
This medium periwinkle is very saturated and reminds me of the wintry scenes with snowmen and blustery wind.
Finish
Cameo by Illamasqua has a creme finish, and it had a nice glossy shine even before I slicked on a top coat. Like I’ve said many times before, I feel like when you have a truly special colour, a creme finish puts the spotlight on the colour instead of distracting with a fancy finish.
Application & Formula
How does Illamasqua do it? Yet again the formula was perfect. It wasn’t too thick, and it wasn’t too thin. It was just right…like Baby Bear’s porridge.
It self-levelled very well, and the pigmentation was wonderful. I only needed to use 2 coats to fully cover the nail line.

Final Verdict: 9.5/10
Cameo by Illamasqua is an easy-to-apply polish with a pretty colour that I can see myself wearing solo over and over again. But it would also make a great base for wintry nail art!
Do you think you’ll be picking up Cameo? What’s your latest nail-polish purchase? Are you as impressed with Illamasqua’s nail-polish formula as I am?
Gorgeous colour, I love periwinkle blues…
Hey Cali!
It’s a shade that nail-polish companies don’t seem to make enough of. There are lots of dark blues and baby blues, but not as many periwinkles!
What a pretty blue!!! I love it!

Hey Marisa!
Blues are always fun to wear. And I find that this particular shade of periwinkle flatters a lot of different skin tones. You should try it! Then again, you make all colours look incredible!
Awww… You’re always so sweet Mary!

You are, too!
Your nails are just too astonishing! Periwinkle blue is just so perfect for you! What’s your favorite nail polish color? Is the blue, red, violet, pink?

Hey Carms!
Haha, thank you! Nobody has ever called my nails astonishing before…Gosh! *Blush* 😉
Definitely my favourite nail-polish shade is green, followed closely by purple. However, I love nearly every colour in the rainbow. 😉
Eeek! While I was purchasing Noble, my mouse cursor also hovered over Cameo but I couldn’t find a swatch for the life of me, so I passed… and now you come along with these gorgeous pictures! I’ll repeat it: you terrible influence, you!
I looove Illamasqua. It is just so effortless to apply and their colours are straight out of a fantasy. And their ads are so artistic!
Hey MC!
Hahahaha, I’m always happy to be a bad influence…when it comes to nail polish! 😉 Okay, sometimes I feel guilty for enabling, but when a polish has an amazing colour and the formula is great, I will sing its praises! Hopefully I’ve also helped you save money, too, on polishes that didn’t perform. As long as I’m not JUST encouraging you to buy, then I feel okay.
Yes, Illamasqua always has interesting marketing. You can’t help but look and admire it like artwork! Must be an awesome company to work for!
This is a great colour and great swatches as always. My most recent nail polish purchase was Nails Inc Barton St which I found on sale at Sephora the last time I was there. As for Illamasqua I only own one nail polish, Rampage, that I bought 2 months ago but have yet to wear. Maybe I should get on that. I totally get what you mean about the canvas for winter nail art. Great suggestion!

Hey Lauren!
Aww…thank you so much for saying that! 😀 *Puffs out chest*
Great to hear that you got that polish on sale. I’ve been really curious about the Nails Inc. brand. Seen lots of people rave about their polishes, but I still don’t have a single bottle.
Ooohh, great choice with Illamasqua Rampage – it’s very much a beloved polish!
Oh this is pretty. I rarely see this color in stores and i have never even tried this brand before. Looks like its time to branch out. And it needs a nice white slowflake glitter topper to be the prefect winter mani. I might be dreaming of winter manicures now and its still fall.

Hey rebecca!
Ohhhh when you try Illamasqua for the first time, you’re going to be blown away. Their formulas are really amazing. From the few bottles that I have, I can tell you that they’re top-notch! Plus the whole company is very artistic. I like how they do their own thing and how they aren’t afraid to be ‘out there’.
I’m in love! I’ve put this polish on my Christmas wishlist because of your swatches!

Yes, this bad boy wins over mannny hearts. 😉 There’s not enough Periwinkle out there.
Aww…thank you for saying that – it’s a HUGE compliment! I hope that Santa surprises you with it. 😉 But…that means you have to be good all year…haha!
