Created by Leah, one of my readers, FedoraHarp Whiskers on Kittens is inspired by a song sung by the incomparable Julie Andrews in the classic musical, The Sound of Music.
The colour combination is unique in my collection, and since I’ve never worn anything like it, I wasn’t sure what to expect. (It was like a nail-polish Jack-in-the-Box for me.)
From the very first glance, this polish made me think of cookies and cream. (Yes, I have a sweet tooth…just one. The rest have all fallen out, so I resemble a hockey player. Don’t feel sorry for me. Cha-ching! I collected big time when the Tooth Fairy visited. Okay, so maybe not. I have more than just one sweet tooth. They’re all pretty sweet, especially the molar at the very back. Occasionally, it winks at me. How cheeky!) 😉
Back to the nail polish, it also reminds me a little of a calico cat, which ties in nicely with the nail polish’s name. (Only after did I look at FedoraHarp’s Etsy store and realize that she also mentioned the glitter as being ‘calico’. Nailphile minds think alike!)
P.S. Thank you so much to everyone who left me a thoughtful comment on my 5th Blogiversary post and entered the worldwide giveaway! I read every single comment, and each one puts a huge, goofy grin on my face. (When I have a bad day, I plan to re-read those comments because your positivity really does wonders to lift my spirits!)

FedoraHarp Whiskers on Kittens Review
Colour
Just like a calico cat, Whiskers on Kittens by FedoraHarp has hexagonal glitter in pale gold/orange and black that’s suspended in a milky, creme-jelly hybrid base. This base allows the glitter to shine through without covering them up.
There’s also fun micro-shimmer that looks silvery, and it adds an ethereal quality to the rest of the polish. (I love how it adds that extra touch for a fun surprise when you look at it in the sunlight!)
Finish
With various sizes of glitter ranging from super chunky to very delicate, Whiskers on Kittens by Fedoraharp is really interesting to look at.
It was so surprising that this polish wasn’t overly sharp and scratchy on top of the nail. Plus when I added a glossy top coat, it smoothed things out beautifully. (It also didn’t seem to have a rough texture.)
Application & Formula
I expected the formula to be stringy and thick just because of the chunky glitter, but I was really glad to see that the crelly (creme-jelly) base was easy to paint with. It was thick like glue. However, as with most chunky-glitter polishes, it will probably naturally thicken up over time. (No problem. You can always add a drop of thinner when the time comes to perform CPR on the nail polish.)
The glitter sometimes wants to chill on the free edge of the nail. While it’s not scratchy on top of the nail, when it sticks out on this free edge, it can be scratchy. It’s easy to fix, though. Just use the brush to push the ones that are hanging out. No big deal!
To achieve full opacity, I found that I only needed to use two generous coats. That being said, I used three coat to see if it would drastically change the polish’s appearance. From two to three coats, I couldn’t see any major difference. (You get a bit more coverage with three, but I think I could still feel comfortable wearing just two coats.)

Final Verdict: 7.5/10
I ended up liking this polish on my nails even more than I did when I just admired it in the bottle. It’s fun, and I love how it has a soft appearance because of the milky base.
Do you like crelly (creme-jelly) nail polishes? Do you have a cat or several cats?
Too cute! I love the name and the look of this one. It’s not like any other glitter polish that I’ve seen. I don’t have any Fedoraharp polishes, but I think this one might be the one that starts my collection. Thanks as always for sharing! 🙂
This is a very interesting and pretty polish! I actually have three cats. Tinker is my moms, Whiskers is mine, and the newest addition to the family Ella is my daughters. No more cats. I’m done lol.

This is a pretty cool combo of glitter and color. I dig it. I don’t know if I would rock it.
Ok I’m lying. Lol I would try it.
This looks beautiful!
(and of course I’m humming the song again, just like the other polish in the Sound of Music Duo… I think I’m going to watch the movie again this weekend 🙂 )
