My complexion has a warm undertone, so silver can sometimes be tricky for me to pull off. Nevertheless, I’m always game when it comes to testing out a new silver nail polish because I love how celebratory it looks!
Essie Apres-Chic from the Winter 2015 Collection is a silver that would warm the nail-polish-loving hearts of the Snow Queen and Frosty the Snowman.
Tin Man, eat your heart out!
Wintry with a wind-chill factor of minus twenty, Essie Apres-Chic certainly keeps its cool and found its way onto this blogger’s nails!
I wore this a while ago, but finally I’m bringing you the full review and more swatches of this flashy Essie nail polish.

Essie Apres-Chic Review
Colour
Welcome to the platinum life that makes your nails rival the Disco Fever era! Apres-Chic by Essie is a silver with a jolt of electricity!
Some silvers can appear flat, but this one pops with personality, and it instantly gave me a celebratory vibe, which is why I think it’d be ideal to wear during festive occasions like New Year’s Eve.
Also, with such a flashy base colour like this, it works great under nail stamping. Even a simple black design on top would come to life with this underneath.
Finish
The finish of Apres-Chic by Essie is a shimmery metallic that reflects the light and shows minor brush strokes. This is the kind of finish that doesn’t require the assistance of a glossy top coat – it pops all on its own, thank you very much!
Application & Formula
With the initial coat, I was able to achieve full coverage because of the high pigmentation. However, you know me – I used a second coat out of habit. Also, I wanted to see if it would intensify the colour. (It didn’t seem to make much of a difference in the shade when I applied the second coat.)
You will have noticed that I got some bubbling. The formula was thick, but not hard to control. When I used my usual medium coats, this unfortunately encouraged bubbling, so if you use this polish, I highly recommend that you use thinner coats because that will reduce your chance of getting any bubbling.
Also keep in mind that the bubbling wasn’t as noticeable in person because my nails aren’t blown up to larger-than-life proportions. While bubbling isn’t desirable, it wasn’t so bad that I felt the need to redo my manicure.

Final Verdict: 7.5/10
I really love the way that Essie Apres-Chic looks on other people, but with my warm undertone, I feel like my skin tone doesn’t do any justice to the polish. Still, I loved wearing this, and I know that I’ll be sporting it again by itself or under nail art.
How would you wear Essie Apres-Chic? Have you painted your Christmas manicure yet? (I’ll be probably doing it later today.) Can you believe how fast December has flown by?
It’s a pretty color but I think I’ll pass. Colors like this tend to look a little like aluminium foil on me. LOL
However, like all the other colors you swatch for us, this one looks great on you.
Hey Melissa!
Hahahahaha, now that you mention aluminum foil, that’s all I can see now! Talk about nail wraps! 😛
Wow, this is a stunning polish! I love formulas like this so I’ll definitely be picking this one up!

Hey Kelly!
Hope you enjoy it! 🙂 It’ll look wonderful under some stamping, I think!
Merry Christmas, Mary! xo
Hey Sandra!
Hope that you had a very Merry Christmas, and I wish you wonderful New Year that’s filled with happiness, challenges, and humour!
Love it! Glad I snagged it when I saw it for 2 bucks in the clearance bin at one of the local drugstores, I forget which one now but I was worried it was there for a reason, like it sucked. It was probably just the last one 🙂
Hey Stephanie!
Wowzers! Just two dollars? That’s a steal of a deal! I’m surprised that they’re already discounting it so quickly, as it’s part of the Essie Winter 2015 Collection. In any case, it’s good news for those who are interested in this shade!
I have had a lot of issues with Essie bubbling. I found out that a big reason for it on my nails was that I had acetone residue from the 100% acetone (when going from one mani to another) clean up. just rinsing my hands in water wasn’t enough, needed soap.
Hey Tanya!
You’re onto something! That could very well be the reason for me, too. I tend to paint my nails right after I remove my old manicure, so maybe there’s some residue from the remover left behind. (I don’t use 100% acetone, only the acetone-based remover, but it could still be the culprit.) Thanks for sharing that with me. I’m going to wash my hands thoroughly before wearing shades like this. (It seems like I tend to get bubbling with this finish compared to cremes.)
