Even though I love checking out the e.l.f. site for sales and new colors, I’m always a little apprehensive in trying their products. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: their stuff is kind of hit and miss.
But they had a 50% off sale on their mineral eyeshadows, so I felt like I had to stock up. e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Socialite is one of the many colors I got, and it’s one of the best! Please don’t think of a certain hotel heiress when you see the name of this color. It’s the farthest thing from her! There’s depth and star power to this color.

e.l.f. Socialite Mineral Eyeshadow Review
This color completely shocked me. I had tried a couple of other elf mineral eyeshadows first with very disappointing results. I was expecting the same from e.l.f. Cosmetics Socialite Mineral Eyeshadow. I was wrong!
Like the other elf mineral eyeshadows, the color doesn’t exactly match the site’s swatch (which is slightly purple), but it’s pretty close. Because of this, I wasn’t disappointed at all with the color when I first applied it. Actually, I really like the shade.
elf Cosmetics Socialite Mineral Eyeshadow in the pot has a lot of glitter; it just doesn’t really transfer onto the lid. But you still get special depths to the hue because the end result is a shimmery shade, rather than a super-glittery color. And the shade is a charred deep brown. It’s good for contouring to add depth and a little bit of sparkle.
You’ll really appreciate how easy e.l.f. Socialite Mineral Eyeshadow is to apply. Just make sure to tap your brush to get off excess to prevent fallout. It goes on the lid very smoothly because the consistency is fine and not clumpy. It actually has a bit of a creamy texture to it, even though it’s in powder form.
The thing I don’t like about elf Socialite Mineral Eyeshadow is that it’s not highly pigmented. You don’t have to cake on a lot to get good color, but I do have to go over the lid a couple of times to get the saturation I want. Because of this, though, it blends easily… but it’s also easy to blend too much. You could end up losing a lot of the color if you overblend.
While I didn’t experience too much fading with elf Cosmetics Socialite, I do recommend wearing a primer. It’ll really bring out the hue and keep it from creasing, which happens a bit. And if you really want to intensify the tone, try it wet. It definitely vamps up the glam factor in this shade.

Final Verdict: 7.8/10
This isn’t a knock-you-over-it’s-so-gorgeous color, but I think it’s definitely a staple. It’s not just a neutral dark brown, but there’s some sheen to it that it works with dressier looks, too! I think it’s a good investment because it’s so well priced.
Have you tried this or other elf mineral eyeshadows? What are your final thoughts?
