The China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze Collection features a lot of festive shades to help dress your tips for the holidays.
In the Quick Look post I published a few days ago, I showed you the 6 shades from the collection that I’ll be reviewing in-depth.
The first one I just had to wear was China Glaze So Blue Without You.
It’s a vibrant blue with a foil-like metallic finish that really lights up your nails!

China Glaze So Blue Without You Review
Colour
Like lagoons or clear skies, So Blue Without You by China Glaze is a vibrant, fresh blue. Whenever I wear shades like this, my nails really pop!
I love how electric this colour is, and it’s bold, which is especially fun to wear during the holidays.
You can wear it any time of year, but I do feel that the colour and finish really will remind you of the winter.
Finish
The finish of So Blue Without You by China Glaze is really what makes this nail polish special!
Its metallic finish has almost a foil-like look to it that reflects the light brilliantly. Since it’s so dramatic all on its own, even when you add a top coat, it doesn’t seem to alter the finish or make it look shinier.
Application & Formula
A single coat was very pigmented and covered the nail well, but I opted for 2 coats, which is typically what I use. And it flowed onto the nail smoothly and without any major issues.
Since the colour is so saturated, you could probably use this for nail stamping. (If any of you try it, please let me know if it works out!)
Staining
Whenever I come across a vibrant blue, I always wonder if it’ll stain my nails or give me a case of “Smurf Fingers” (i.e. when you remove the polish and the blue gets all over your skin and cuticles).
I wore 2 layers of my base coat to prep my nails to avoid any staining, however, when I removed this polish, I was surprised to see that it still managed to stain my nails!
The stain on my nails wasn’t blue, but it made my nails look yellow.
To someone who doesn’t wear nail polish as often as I do, that can spell a big (embarrassing) problem. But, for me, it’s not too important because my nails are covered with lacquer 99% of the time anyway.
As for Smurf Fingers, yes, it did that, too. As I removed the polish, the blue pigment got all over my cuticles and skin. But it’s not the kind that will have you walking around with blue fingers. Just wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water several times. The blue comes off almost completely.
Since removal is more time-consuming than a typical polish, I wouldn’t recommend taking this off if you are in a rush and need to be out the door soon. You will have to spend several minutes to wash it all off and to carefully get it off your cuticles.

Final Verdict: 7/10
I really loved the colour of So Blue Without You by China Glaze, so I had to give it a high score. The only reason I had to deduct points was because of the staining and Smurf Fingers you have to deal with.
What shades have you noticed tend to stain your nails the most? If a nail polish has a beautiful colour, do you forgive it if it leaves you with stained nails? Have you decided what you’ll be wearing on your nails this holiday?
Love this color. This one’s going on my wish list!
Hey Melissa!
You will love how this polish makes your nails light up because it’s so vibrant!
It looks like it would. I think it would be too pretty as a background for snowflakes.
I’ve been wanting to do snowman nail art for quite some time. Think I’ll use this blue as the base!
OMG Love this! Think I’ll have to pick it up once Christmas has worn off. >_> lol

Hey Elizabeth!
Haha, yeah, for a Blue Christmas!
This color is so beautiful and unique, but the staining :-(! Still, I will be wearing it again since I love blues and this color is so special and pretty.
