Not long ago, I shared my thoughts on Nicole by OPI Stand by Your Manny from the Modern Family Collection.
While I did enjoy wearing the periwinkle by itself, I was curious to test out another of the China Glaze Glitz Bitz ‘n Pieces Collection shades. This time, I used China Glaze Bling It On.
Here’s another one of those ‘tone-on-tone’ layering combinations that I mentioned before.
If using high-contrast colours isn’t your thing, this may be your preferred way to wear the glitter.

China Glaze Bling It On Review
Colour
China Glaze Bling It On is a royal purple that looks like a saturated blue. There are both black and these royal purple bits for an interesting sprinkling that adds visual interest to nearly any manicure.
You could layer this over almost anything because the base polish is clear.
Finish
This is a chunky glitter polish that has small, medium, and large pieces of glitter plus bar glitter. There’s a lot going on – it’s like you found a room full of confetti and threw it all on your nails. 😉
Application & Formula
While I don’t usually have trouble with nail-polish brushes, I found that the China Glaze one was a bit too thin. That meant I had to double-dip the brush to get more product when applying the polish to the same nail. If only the brush were wider, it would be easier.
You need to manipulate the glitter a bit and push around the pieces to get them to lay evenly. If you just paint them on, they tend to collect in the same spots, while there are bald spots in other places.
Also, keep in mind that the bar glitter may need to be pushed back or they could hang beyond the free edge and leave a scratchy feeling.
(Alternatively, you can wait for everything to dry and then file the excess bar glitter off. I prefer the first method because it’s less work…and because I believe in doing things right the first time instead of having to ‘fix’ it later. Maybe that’s also why I don’t do any clean-up on my manicures unless I’m doing nail stamping. I just like to take my time when I paint so I don’t have to go back and spend more time.)
I noticed that the largest hexagonal glitter dimpled a bit in the middle to the point where it was a little curled. Up close, I could notice it, but if someone’s just looking at your nails from a normal distance, they won’t be able to tell.

Final Verdict: 7.5/10
Bling It On by China Glaze is really fun to use because you can get that speckled dinosaur-egg look. Plus you can do tone-on-tone manicures or high-contrast ones. The possibilities are virtually endless!
Even though the brush makes it a little tricky to apply the polish, I still think the extra effort is worth it. I really enjoyed wearing this manicure! 🙂
Have you tried any of the China Glaze Glitz Bitz ‘n Pieces glitters? What would you layer Bling It On over? Do you prefer tone-on-tone or high-contrast manicures?
it has something easter-ish with it l
Hey Icequeen81!
Now that you mention it, yes, it does! Good observation! 🙂
That’s awesome! I definitely like Bling It On better over the blue than over yellow like I keep seeing. I just got Glitz n’ Pieces and Grafitti Glitter yesterday and I can’t wait to try them! 😀

Hey Lizzy!
Nice! Have you decided what layering combinations you’re going to do over the ones you got?
