China Glaze Aquadelic probably looks a bit familiar to you. When I first saw it, it reminded me immediately of China Glaze For Audrey. (More on that later in this post!)
China Glaze Aquadelic hails from the ElectroPop Collection Spring 2012.
It’s actually a robin’s egg blue. (My flash photos are closer to the real colour.) But, here in natural light, you can see more of the light blue.
If you’re looking for an eye-popping colour that’s flattering on pretty much everyone, I highly recommend Aquadelic!

China Glaze Aquadelic Review
Colour
Aquadelic by China Glaze is a greenish robin’s egg blue that pops on your fingernails!
Whenever I wear something like this, I always get tons of compliments from both females and males…even strangers. I think it’s because it’s such a happy colour that’s bright and fun, without being garish.
Finish
Aquadelic by China Glaze is a creme polish, which is simple and sweet.
Application & Formula
It was highly pigmented! I could’ve probably gotten away with a single coat because the formula was thick, but I used 2 coats to even everything out. (Plus, using a minimum of 2 coats is a habit of mine.)
Even though the formula was thick, it was also runny at the same time, and while it does level out a little bit, you need to apply this with more care because it can easily lie more thickly on some parts of the nail than on others.
My advice is to use thin coats instead of medium coats like I used to achieve better results. You’ll be able to control it much more that way.
Dupes
I mentioned that China Glaze Aquadelic is very close to China Glaze For Audrey. Do you need both?
If you’re a hardcore nailphile, you’ll be able to see the slight nuances in person. Strangely, when I photographed the bottles side-by-side, the camera didn’t pick up the teeny, tiny difference…but that was because my lighting wasn’t the best.
Trust me, there is a difference between the two in person, but it’s so minute that if you’re not a nail addict, they’ll look like exact dupes to you. (And, in all honesty, even I can’t notice the difference when it’s on my nails. I can only see the difference when I have both of them side-by-side to compare.)
Aquadelic is just a touch brighter and bluer than For Audrey. For Audrey lean slightly greener and is a bit dustier.
(If you want to see my old China Glaze For Audrey swatches & review, check it out to compare for yourself!)
I thought that some of you may also be curious to know how China Glaze Aquadelic compares to OPI Mermaid’s Tears.
OPI Mermaid’s Tears is dustier and greener, so it’s much closer to China Glaze For Audrey than it is to China Glaze Aquadelic.

Final Verdict: 10/10
Aquadelic by China Glaze is a fun-loving colour that I feel anyone can sport regardless of what your skin tone is. It’s a hue that reminds me of the summer, so I associate it with happy memories.
If you already have China Glaze For Audrey and aren’t a hardcore nail-polish collector, I think that you can pass on this one because it’s so similar.
If you have both, do you prefer China Glaze Aquadelic or For Audrey? What is your number-one polish to wear during the summer?
I love this shade very much. It’s my favorite from the collection. Great swatches!
Carolina recently posted: Impressions of your nail polish, by Kelly Marsh
Hey Carolina!
Glad you like it, too! π A bright colour like this that reminds us of summer even when it’s still winter is definitely needed.
I love this color and it does remind me of For Audrey! I already have For Audrey but I am dying to get the Electropop collection! I’m really into bright neons and colors in this collection.
Hey maddy!
Nothing like bright polishes to brighten your day, right?
What’s on your nails today, by the way?
Right now, I’m wearing China Glaze Lorelei’s Tiara! I am so excited for tomorrow because I’m taking my cast off after an ankle injury! π
YAY – it’s going to feel like freedom! I’ve never had a cast, but I can just imagine how it must feel like to get rid of it. π
I got rid of my cast. And then, they gave me a walking cast. The good news is that I can take it off whenever I want.
That’s great news. More freedom!
This is the only one that I’ve bought so far but haven’t tried it yet.
I love CG brights, but still a bit nervous since the Flying Dragon incident when I fought with the skinny brush and matte finish until I mucked up the mani so bad that it nearly brought me to tears.
Does it dry matte like so many of CG’s bright colors seem to do?
I usually stick to brights in the spring and am particularly fond of SH Insta-Dry Lickety-Split Lime.
Hey karen!
I love Flying Dragon! But, yes, you really need to load up the brush prior to painting or it becomes tricky to work with.
Hmm…I wouldn’t say that Aquadelic dries matte like Flying Dragon. It also doesn’t dry shiny, either, though. I would, however, strongly suggest a top coat over this because it looks way better when it’s shinier.
I will stick with For Audrey which I have, but some of the other colours in this collection are great! I got Sweet Hook, the lilac shade I am so loving it!
Naomi recently posted: Oh So Yummy Peach Parfait and Cherry Tart Revlon Lip Butters
Hey Naomi!
Nice – Sweet Hook is beautiful. I didn’t track it down, though, because I’m not sure if it would go with my skin tone. Glad that you’re loving it, though! π
I have Sweet Hook and just love it. I’d really recommend seeing (and testing) it for yourself, it’s a really great color. π
If I can find it in person, I just might. I’m trying to save a bit of money now, though.
I almost got this one…almost. I limited myself to just one polish from the electropop collection (excluding Techno…cant limit myself too much, thats crazy..) So I got electric beat. I had no reasoning behind it…I simply didnt want to put the effort into making a decision.
Frosso recently posted: A England Ascalon
Hey Frosso!
I think I heard the little bottle cry to itself when you walked away. π Hehe! Poor thing!
I thought about getting this one and then left it. I just might change my mind :-/. It’s so fun, but at the time I didn’t feel like getting anything so bright. This looks great on you Mary!
MariJo recently posted: Jesse’s Girl – Mermaid’s Lagoon
Hey MariJo!
I saw Mermaid’s Lagoon on you, and it looks stunning! π I’m sure you could pull off Aquadelic, too. Every time you look down, you’d smile!
Trying to convince me I see ;0). Well I’m already thinking about it, lol. Don’t be surprised if I end up picking it up.
MariJo recently posted: Confetti – Rhapsody in Blue
Oh, I won’t be surprised. π I’ll be clapping my hands with excitement.
I can see the difference! However, it isn’t significant enough for me to buy it (since I already own For Audrey). There are too many other nail polish colors I want to spend my money on! Hahaha π
Hey Kelly!
Good eyes! π I agree – there’s only a sliver of difference between the two.
Oh yeah? What other polishes are you currently lemming?
There are a number of colors on NerdLaquer I want (like Purley Logical and It’s a Flesh Wound, to start). I’m a big fan of The Hunger Games, and want at least 5 colors from that China Glaze collection when it comes out in a couple of weeks. Plus, I haven’t even looked at the OPI Holland collection in person, I know I want Dutch You Just Love OPI and I Dont Give a Rotterdam but more might spark my interest in person! Not to mention, whenever I step into an ULTA or a Sally Beauty I inevitably find more colors I want.
My budget doesn’t allow for duplicates haha! π
Hey Kelly!
You’ll love I Don’t Give a Rotterdam! π Dusty blues are not too common…at least I haven’t noticed many of them.
Goodness, Mary, why must you tempt me so? π Just when I thought I could pass on this collection (even if I’ve been eyeing this particular shade and trying very hard to resist), turns out I can’t. This is a NEED kind of color. And look how pretty it is on you! I’m convinced it’s not the same as For Audrey at all. I’d totally rock this right now (why wait for summer? lol!). I usually go brighter in the summer months although I’ve been strangely drawn to orange/coral lately.
Carmela recently posted: Nail Art Wednesday: Cupid Nails
Hey Carmela!
Why? Because it’s fun! π
Sounds like we’ve been drinking the same Kool Aid…hehe! I’m also drawn to oranges and corals lately – must be because they remind me of summer and also because I don’t have too many of them in my collection. It’s always fun to explore new hues.
(By the way, I saw how For Audrey looked on you – GORGEOUS! :D)
I was at Ulta trying to compare the same polishes yesterday, but I could not find For Aurdrey. I am trying to cut back on the amount of dupes I have unless I am purchasing them for a post, but I think For Audrey and Aquadelic are different enough to justify purchasing Aquadelic.
Stella recently posted: Valentineβs Day nails
Hey Stella!
Yeah, For Audrey is always very popular, so it makes sense that they sold out. Don’t worry – they’ll most likely restock it. π But if you can’t find it there, maybe try Sally Beauty Supply.
This color is gorgeous! I must have it! I like it a lot better than For Audrey because it seems more cheerful and bright and less minty π
Kassie recently posted: Happy Valentines Day π
Hey Kassie!
On my skin tone, they look really close, so maybe that is also another factor. But, you’re right about Aquadelic being more upbeat – it’s such an energetic colour that makes you happy just looking at it!
Thank you for the side by side shots of the bottles. I have For Audrey and Mermaid Tears so I can pass on Aquadelic. It was one of the colors from the Electropop collection that I didn’t get.
lacquerloon recently posted: Two New Essie Greens
Hey lacquerloon!
You’re very welcome! I thought the comparison would be useful because when I looked at the bottles separately, it was a little tricky to tell them apart.
Hey Mary! Sorry I haven’t dropped by in a while. I hope you’re well π I love this color on you, so I’m not surprised that you get compliments all the time for it π aqua is probably my favorite nail color. I own all three that you mentioned, plus some other less-dupish ones like Sparitual Delight. Can you believe that this color was the first to sell out at my beauty store? they had like 20 bottles of each from the electropop collection! I’m so glad I got mine before it was gone.
Hey Vivian!
No need to apologize! π Thank you for stopping by at all. You know that I appreciate your support, but I know that life can get very busy. Thank you for taking the time to come on over! π
Yeah, I can believe that this colour sold out quickly! Pretty much everyone’s wishing that it was summer already, and this colour screams warm weather.
Hope that school’s going well for you and that you’re kicking ass and taking names. π
Yeah i think this one is more “neony” than Audrey. A little itmore bright I think..? I would get both of course..so nice! O love me some Audrey..hmmmm man how do I justify getting this one too.lol
Hey pretty!
Yes, it’s a tad brighter than For Audrey. Both are gorgeous colours, but if you want something that pops even more, Aquadelic is my suggestion.
How have I never seen this baby? Grrr! I’ve got For Audrey but of course I need this one too. π
Brittany recently posted: 7 Things Beauty Bloggers Should Never Do
Hey Brittany!
It’ll look spectacular on you for sure! Picturing it right now. π
I’ve been looking for a nice robin’s egg blue-esque shade, i’m going to have to grab this one!!! =D
Hey Ashley!
This fits the bill for you perfectly then. π Hope you love it on your nails as much as I enjoyed wearing it!
This might be the only color I pick up from the Electropop collection. This is such a fun color for spring! Thanks for the swatches!
Ashley recently posted: Finger Paints Flashy
Hey Ashley!
You’re so welcome – glad that you enjoyed seeing the swatches of it. It was a pleasure to wear and photograph!
I am really drawn to pastels and blues, so I had to resist this one when I saw the collection. Having seen a comparison post about it helped my wallet win this this fight. π (It mainly loses when it comes between me and polish, LOL)
another Cristina recently posted: Thrift store haul!
Hey another Cristina!
Haha, I know what you mean. It can be hard to resist pretty colours, but sometimes you need to hold back or it can get out of control.
Sooo pretty! I’ve had such a hard time finding it. One day…one day…
Hey Amy!
I hope you can track it down, but even if you can’t, China Glaze For Audrey is a lovely alternative and easy to find. π
Where do you buy your china glaze in Canada? i’m looking for the hunger games polish and can’t find it anywhere in canada! I love this colour
Hey Hayley!
You can find China Glaze at Sally Beauty Supply stores in Canada. However, there don’t seem to be too many locations, and the ones near me seem to just have slim pickings for new polishes.
Maybe you can try calling a Sally Beauty Supply location and ask them if they have The Hunger Games polishes in yet. If they do, you could ask to place a hold on the ones you want. And if they don’t have them, maybe they can tell you if/when they’ll get them.
Alternatively, you could try the etailers like NailPolishCanada.com.
