Smorgasbord Sundays: Lilacs

Pictures of LilacsHope that my fellow Canadians are having an amazing long weekend! 🙂 I’m having a really busy one hanging out with a bunch of friends.

Didn’t have too much time for a post today (sadly), so I’m sharing a few quick photos of some lilacs that one of my friends picked just for me. He remembered how they’re my favourite flowers.

Haha, but most of the ones on the bushes were browning. 😛 That’s okay. At least they still smell really good. I’m going to enjoy them while they last.

Smorgasbord Sundays: Coach Handbags

Denim Coach PurseBack in 2006 or so, I used to be obsessed with Coach handbags. Not only did I stalk the website and boutiques, but I even joined forums to talk about them! Haha, yes, I was part of the whole community that would do live reveals and share photos of purchases.

And because even back then I was really into reviews and doing solid research prior to making a decision, I would read everything I could about Coach purses before making a purchase. I even studied all the tips and tricks for spotting a fake.

But the love affair cooled off after I bought all the Coach purses I think I’ll ever need. (In fact, I’m thinking about selling many of them if I can find anyone who’s interested.)

In 2008, I stopped ‘collecting’ Coach items (because I also bought their wristlets and handbag charms) and began collecting nail polish. Haha, let me tell you, becoming a lacquerhead was much more economical! 😉

For this week’s Smorgasbord Sundays post, I’ll share just the photos of the Coach handbags I currently have.

Smorgasbord Sundays: Documentaries I’ve Watched

Documentaries SwatchAndLearn Smorgasbord SundaysHappy Sunday, everyone!

Today I’d like to share a few links to a few documentaries that I’ve watched this year.

They’re not new, but I think they’re interesting even if some of them are slow-paced. (They’re thought-provoking, so they’re well worth the time investment.)

If you don’t have time to watch them all, I suggest The Code and Helvetica in particular. 🙂

You should be able to watch any of them if you’re in Canada, although I’m not sure if my readers outside Canada can view the documentaries. *Crosses fingers*

Smorgasbord Sundays: How to Make My Favourite Vegetarian Lasagne

How to Make Lasagna RecipeLasagne is one of my favourite things to eat. Not only is it loaded with cheese, but there are tons of vegetables.

I used to be a vegetarian for about 4 years, and this was my favourite dish to make. Even when my meat-eating friends tried this, they actually said it was the best lasagne they ever ate! I always get compliments on it, so it’s a winner.

Originally I got the recipe from a book, but over the years, I’ve changed the recipe so much that it truly has become my own and doesn’t resemble the original very much!

For today’s Smorgasbord Sundays post, I’ll share my recipe with you as well as a step-by-step tutorial including photos in case you want to try making this. (If you do, please let me know how yours turns out!)

Smorgasbord Sundays: Food Cravings

Spring Rolls Food CravingsLately I’ve been so busy that I haven’t really had time to cook. My weekdays are hectic. After work, I have a full plate of things to do, and my weekends are packed with social activities.

In the past 2 weeks, I haven’t had much alone time (other than when I’m working on Swatch And Learn), but I actually am enjoying this super-busy schedule.

Unfortunately, because I haven’t been able to cook, I’ve resorted to buying takeout food a lot.

Normally I crave Indian or Italian food, but recently I’ve had huge food cravings for sushi and dim sum!

Haha, so for today’s Smorgasbord Sundays post, I’m just going to show you some of the things that I’ve been wolfing down.

What have you been craving lately?

Smorgasbord Sundays: Jumble Puzzles

Jumble Word Scramble PuzzlesThere are so many different kind of puzzles: Sudoku, Cryptogram, Crossword, Word Search, etc. But Jumble puzzles are the ones I love to do the most.

For Jumble puzzles, you unscramble the letters to figure out the words and then unscramble the circled letters from each word to solve a final puzzle that’s often a witty joke.

(Wish I was good at doing crosswords and Sudoku, but I’m not. And I don’t find them as fun or rewarding as Jumbles!)

When I was in a student in university, I did Jumble puzzles nearly every week. I was so obsessed with them that I got my mom addicted to them, too. And, before I knew it, we would be fighting over the Jumble puzzle in the newspaper. 😛

Eventually we ended up doing the Jumbles at the same time. It became our fun little competition to see who could figure out the words and solve the riddle at the end the fastest.

Haha, and later on, I ended up buying the Jumble books so that we could go head-to-head with several puzzles in a row instead of waiting for a new one in each newspaper.
