OPI Who Are You Calling Bossy?!? Swatches & Review

OPI Who Are You Calling BossyOPI Who Are You Calling Bossy?!? is described as a “stormy black” in the official press release for the OPI Peanuts Collection, and I definitely agree with it.

This is a jet black, not one of those near-black shades that sometimes frustrates me.

When I want really dramatic, dark tips, I prefer to reach for a full-on black, not one that tip-toes around the bush. This one is gothic, and I love it!

Sure, this black may not look unique, but the formula is wonderful. At just 2 coats, I got great coverage. (Sometimes with other blacks, you need 3 coats, or the formula is really thick, leaving behind an uneven finish.)

If you don’t already have a staple black nail polish in your collection, this is a good one to own!

OPI To Be Or Not To Beagle Swatches & Review (Layered Over OPI Good Grief!)

OPI To Be Or Not To Beagle Swatches & ReviewA couple of days ago, I shared with you an in-depth review of OPI Good Grief!, the sunny yellow from the Peanuts Collection out in stores this September.

Ever since laying my eyes on the glitters, specifically OPI To Be Or Not To Beagle, I knew I had to layer it over the yellow.

You know how I’m a huge fan of bold colour combinations. There’s nothing quite like looking down and being greeted by crazy nails, right? Right! 😉

What I really love about OPI To Be Or Not To Beagle is that the colourful glitter really reminds me of the Peanuts cartoons. The hues are a great match, and they managed to translate the fun and wholesome vibe from Peanuts into a nail polish. That’s quite remarkable! Charles Monroe Schulz (aka Sparky) would be proud! I still can’t believe it’s already been 14 years since his passing.

Speaking about people passing, I was terribly shocked and saddened that Robin Williams passed away recently. He was a gifted actor, and my favourite films of his are Awakenings and What Dreams May Come.

On a happier note, I’d like to remind you that you still have until this Friday (August 15) at 11:59 pm EDT to enter my worldwide giveaway to win 1 of 4 autographed bottles of Pretty Serious Swatch And Learn, the shade I designed! Hurry – get your entry in!

OPI Good Grief! Swatches & Review

OPI Good Grief Swatches & ReviewToday, I’m very excited to share with you OPI Good Grief!, which is a creamy, sunny yellow from the OPI Peanuts Collection coming to stores in September!

Hallowe’en is my favourite holiday, and I have happy associations with Charlie Brown because when I was in grade 3, for summer camp, we performed a play called A Charlie Brown Christmas. (Hehe, yes, it was Christmas in July!)

If you follow me on social media, you saw me post some photos from the OPI Peanuts Collection, and you know that I’m digging the 2 that I’ve worn so far. (Expect reviews on the rest shortly!)

Also, I plan to do a comparison post later because I’m sure a lot of you are curious as to how OPI Good Grief! compares to other yellows. Stay tuned for that, and if there’s a specific yellow that you want me to include in the comparison, leave a comment on this post or let me know on social media. If I have the shade, I’ll include it.

P.S. Remember, you still have until August 15 at 11:59 pm EDT to enter my worldwide giveaway for your chance to win 1 of 4 autographed bottles of Pretty Serious Swatch And Learn, the nail polish I designed! (Yup, there will be FOUR WINNERS!)

OPI Sorry I’m Fizzy Today Swatches & Review

OPI Sorry I'm Fizzy Today Swatches & ReviewOPI Sorry I’m Fizzy Today is a cute pink nail polish from the Coca-Cola Collection that reminds me of bubblegum!

When I was in elementary school, I was obsessed with chewing gum. However, teachers would often have a classroom rule that students weren’t allowed to do so.

(To this day, I still think it’s silly. As long as you throw your gum in the garbage and don’t stick it on the desks or anywhere else you shouldn’t, I think it’s fine! Also, when you tell kids not to do something, it actually just makes them want to do it more!)

My friends and I sneakily chewed gum when we thought the teacher wasn’t looking. And when he suspected someone was chewing gum, he’d literally look inside your mouth and under your tongue. It was pretty ridiculous!

Kids are smart. So what my friends and I did was just stick the wad of gum on the roof of our mouths. He never thought to look up. (Some kids, unfortunately, swallowed their gum nervously.)

If you were caught, he’d tell you to write 100 lines saying something like “I will not chew gum in class.” Haha, since I always loved to write, that didn’t sound like a punishment at all. (To punish me, you’d probably have to force me not to write!)

One day, I decided that I wanted to enjoy my gum and chew it boldly without worrying about the teacher finding out. So, I wrote the lines the night before and brought it to class the next morning.

After chewing very noticeably and constantly, the teacher saw me, and assigned lines. I smugly reached into my desk, pulled out the pre-written lines, and handed it to him mere seconds after his request.

With a surprised look on his face, he took the paper, and then let a small smile escape.

I was allowed to chew my gum for the rest of the class because there was another silly rule. After you wrote the lines, you could continue chewing gum in class that day!

It was only after I handed in pre-written lines a few more times that the teacher finally changed the rule, saying that we were allowed to chew gum in class, as long as we didn’t blow bubbles. I chewed away happily!

Only a few times did I ‘forget’ and blow a few bubbles in class. 😉 Hehe!

The moral of the story isn’t to break rules. It’s that I don’t think we should follow silly rules blindly. Challenge and re-evaluation are sometimes necessary. Strong rules will hold up against questioning, but weak ones may need to be altered. (If there’s one thing you learn in school, it’s to think critically!)

But now, back to the nail polish! Haha, funny how OPI Sorry I’m Fizzy Today made me so nostalgic about gum! Guess I actually am feeling fizzy today? 😉

P.S. Come celebrate my 4-year blogiversary with the 2 giveaways I’m running:

OPI Green on the Runway Swatches & Review

OPI Green on the Runway Swatches & ReviewEvery green lover needs to own OPI Green on the Runway from the Coca-Cola Collection that I did a Quick Look post on before.

Yes, it appears like this deep, rich, forest green initially, but when you wear it, as you move your hands and look at your nails at different angles, you’ll see a reddish-based brown come to the party!

I love this duochrome! *Swoons*

Don’t solely judge this polish based on the photo on the left. (Be sure to look at the others later on in this post, so you can enjoy the magic that is this amazing duochrome!)

The whole time I wore this (actually, it’s still on my nails as this blog post will be live!), I kept thinking of The Wicked Witch of the West every time I looked down at my nails. I think that’s so cool how it’s such a ‘wicked’ nail polish.

OPI doesn’t put out too many green nail polishes, unfortunately, so when they came out with this one, which has a strong duochrome, I was so ecstatic!

P.S. Remember, there’s still time to enter my OPI Nordic Collection + OPI Wipes worldwide giveaway (ends August 6) and my Pretty Serious Swatch And Learn autographed bottle worldwide giveaway with 4 winners (ends August 15)!

Quick Look: Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-On Manicure

Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-On ManicureToday, I have something pretty different to share with you!

These are the Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-On Manicure nails that you have probably seen at places like Target. (You may remember me sharing the press release about them back in April.)

Thanks to Broadway Nails’ very generous PR team, I have several designs to try out. (I actually have received two additional designs since photographing the ones for this post – yeah, lots and lots of nails!)

The strange thing is that even though I always enjoyed painting my nails, I’ve never tried press-on nails before from any brand. So, these will be my very first! (Fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that I can apply them correctly!)

This is a Quick Look post, so I’ll just give you some close-up photos of each of the five designs, as well as focus on how cute the packaging is – it’s in the shape of nail-polish bottle! I love it! 🙂

In a future post, I’ll do my usual in-depth review with lots of swatches. That’s when I’ll let you know my experience with them, how they wore, how easy or difficult they were to apply, and anything else important worth mentioning.

I’ll put them through a tough test because my full-time job requires me to type a lot on the keyboard. Also, I tend to wash my hands often. I’m curious to see if they’ll hold up to all that or if they’re better suited for special occasions.

My fingers and nails are small and narrow, so it’ll be interesting to see if they’ll fit me. (I think that my nails are smaller than average, since most of the nails displayed on the front of the packaging are too big for me. However, each package comes with 24 different tips, so there’s a good chance my size will be in the mix.

Also, while all my nails are on the curvy side, my index fingernails are extra curvy. I’m going to see if these press-on nails will stick to even my curvy nails. Stay tuned for a future review!

But, for now, let’s just drool over the cute designs!

P.S. In case you missed it, I’m having a worldwide giveaway to celebrate my 4-year blogiversary! Enter until August 6 at 11:59 pm EDT for your chance to win the entire OPI Nordic Collection and a box of 10 OPI Wipe-Off! Wipes. 🙂

P.P.S. Stay tuned because I’ll be having another worldwide giveaway verrrry soon to celebrate my blogiversary! It will run simultaneously as the one mentioned above, and you can enter both. 😉 You won’t want to miss it!

OPI Can’t Afjord Not To Swatches & Review

OPI Can't Afjord Not To Swatches & ReviewOPI Can’t Afjord Not To is from the Nordic Collection, which comes out on August 6th.

It’s actually part of a fall/winter collection, but I’m so happy to see that there’s a “seasonally inappropriate” shade in the mix.

That makes me really happy because, if you know me, you know that I don’t let the month dictate how much fun I can have with colour.

If I want to wear a bright shade in the dead of winter, I’ll do it. And if I choose to rock a vampy hue on a sweltering summer’s day, I’m as happy as a clam. (I’ve always wondered about that saying. How happy are clams really? We ought to ask them.) 😉

Back to the polish, Can’t Afjord Not To is very summery and happy-go-lucky to me. In short, I wanted it on my nails the minute I laid eyes on it!

Edit: Enter to win the entire OPI Nordic Collection & OPI Wipes in my worldwide giveaway to celebrate my 4-year blogiversary!
