OPI Down to the Core-al Swatches & Review

OPI Down to the Core-al Swatches & ReviewIt’s funny that although OPI Down to the Core-al from the Neon Collection was the first shade I wore, it’s the final one that I’m reviewing on here. (You got a sneak peek of it in my Quick Look post.)

The reason? I wore it twice. 🙂 The first time, all the mornings before I headed off to work were gloomy and dismal. I just couldn’t get decent natural-light photos. And by the time I get home in the evening, I’m either busy or the sun has already set.

But the second time I wore OPI Down to the Core-al, Mother Nature decided to cooperate. (Perhaps she’s also a fan of it?) 😉

Although I love a lot of the colours in the collection, I was really excited about this one because around the summer, I tend to bust out coral nail polishes more often. Something about it just makes me think of the warm weather. (It’s like Lana Del Rey’s new album, Ultraviolence, which I love. There’s just something about the sound of the songs that makes me think of the summer.)

OPI You Are So Outta Lime! Swatches & Review

OPI You Are So Outta Lime Swatches & ReviewGreen is a colour that I’m always itching to wear, and OPI You Are So Outta Lime! from the Neon Collection was calling my name (but not like a mother telling you to make your bed)! 😉

This lime green is not for those who shy away from loud colours or who stay close to traditional fare.

OPI You Are So Outta Lime! is just the right punch of colour that says, “Hells yeah – I’ve arrived!”

Hehe, yeah, so apparently it’s a bit into itself. Can you blame it? (I can never blame a good green! Biased? A bit! Honest? Fo’ sho’!)

OPI Push & Pur-Pull Swatches & Review

OPI Push & Pur-Pull Swatches & ReviewToday, I have for you an in-depth review of OPI Push & Pur-Pull, which is from the Neon Collection that I did a Quick Look post on earlier.

Please note that in real life, the polish has a touch more pink undertones than what the bottle pictures might suggest. (I wasn’t able to get spot-on colour accuracy with my camera, and I keep it simple and don’t do colour correction with editing software.)

In the bottle, it looks like an ordinary purple, but I was so happy to see that on the nails, it has a jelly-ish finish for that ‘squishy’ look that’s so cool!

You must wear a top coat to really bring out the outstanding beauty and the jelly-ish finish.

You know, whenever I see purples added to a neon collection, I tend to get very hopeful. But, in actuality, I don’t think there’s such a thing as a true deep neon purple.

OPI Push & Pur-Pull is very pretty, but I definitely don’t consider it to be a retina-burning neon. (Same deal with ‘neon’ blues. They’re often not as bright as their pink, coral, green, and yellow counterparts.)

OPI You’re So Vain-illa Swatches & Review

OPI You're So Vain-illa Swatches & ReviewOPI You’re So Vain-illa from the Coca-Cola Collection that I did a Quick Look post on not long ago isn’t a typical colour that I would naturally gravitate toward.

Brights, bold shades, and in-your-face colours usually make my heart race, but sometimes you need to slow down and enjoy something more demure in order to truly appreciate the louder variety.

OPI You’re So Vain-illa is one of those shades that could go really well or clash with your skin tone. I see these kind of shades as being almost like foundation – you have to get the right undertone, or it could look really wrong.

I don’t have many nudes, so I was really happy to add this one to my collection. And I really enjoy how clean this polish makes my nails look without being harsh like a white.

Nicole by OPI Lay It on the Lime Swatches & Review

Nicole by OPI Lay It On the Lime Swatches & ReviewNicole by OPI Lay It on the Lime is a fresh, light green from the Seize the Summer Collection, which officially will be released in June.

(You may remember me posting a photo on Instagram photo of this not long ago.)

It looks really bright and clean (almost neon-like), which is how my smartphone captured it well. Then when I used my DSLR, somehow the colour got muted. Funny how that happens from time to time.

So when you look at my photos of this on the blog, please keep in mind that it does appear brighter in real life. (I was actually surprised by this one because it looked way more near-neon-like on my nails than it seemed like it would when I just saw it in the bottle. Hehe, it was a very pleasant surprise, of course!)

OPI Hotter Than You Pink Swatches & Review

OPI Hotter Than You Pink Swatches & ReviewWhoa, the weekend sure was spectacular! The sun was shining, and it was enough to put anyone in a good mood! 🙂

One of my favourite things on a sunny day is to see and hear the leaves rustle as the wind flies through. I imagine that the leaves are being tickled, and small thoughts like that are enough to bring a smile to my face.

Today, I have for you a review on OPI Hotter Than You Pink, which is a neon pink that’s from the new Neon Collection.

I managed to have my camera ready to capture it in sunlight, natural light, and with a flash.

However, as with many bright shades, the brightness doesn’t fully translate on screen. OPI Hotter Than You Pink is a more saturated pink. It’s closer to my photos with flash, but it’s even deeper, so keep that in mind.

You know how I feel about pinks – they’re not my favourite, but I’ve definitely warmed up to them, and this one is really fun to wear because in the right light, you get cool blue reflects!

OPI Red Hot Rio Swatches & Review

OPI Red Hot Rio Swatches & ReviewOPI Red Hot Rio is part of the amazing Brazil Collection, which I still can’t stop raving about, even though it’s no longer the latest release!

It has so many stand-out colours, and it’s been a while since I’ve been so excited about an entire nail-polish collection!

This has a jelly finish that I love, and even without a shiny top coat, it ends up looking like glass on your nails.

It reminded me a lot of OPI Vodka & Caviar (which I reviewed back in 2011) – it’s one of my all-time favourite reds.

The formula, finish, and colour are so close, you can probably only justify getting that or OPI Red Hot Rio. (You may remember seeing my comparison swatches on Instagram.)

To me, I consider them pretty much dupes because they look so similar. When I wear them on my nails, I can’t see much of a difference. It’s only when you see them side-by-side on a nail wheel and in certain lighting through the lens of a camera or one on a phone that the nuances show a bit. (If you were to show me one bottle and the other briefly, I don’t think I’d be able to distinguish them apart. Then again, I’m more of a green fiend than a red fiend!) 😉

I think you’ll be just as happy owning one or the other.

But, since OPI Vodka & Caviar is getting harder to find, OPI Red Hot Rio is a nice option for those who may have missed out!

P.S. Remember, you have until May 31 at 11:59 pm EDT to enter my worldwide giveaway to win the entire full-size OPI Neon Collection and the OPI Put a Coat On Base Coat!
