Orly Galaxy Girl Swatches & Review

Orly Galaxy Girl SwatchWhen I first saw promo pictures of Orly Galaxy Girl from the Orly Cosmic FX Collection, I thought it would cure my hardcore lemming for Misa Embroidered Emerald, which is discontinued and very hard to find. Don’t think they’re dupes, but the purple with teal shimmer is similar.

After falling in total lust the week before when I wore Orly It’s Not Rocket Science, Galaxy Girl didn’t make my pulse race nearly as fast. That’s not to say it’s lackluster. It’s still nice, but this isn’t a color that makes me constantly stare at my nails.

Nubar Diamont Seal & Shine Topcoat Review & Pictures

Nubar Diamont Seal & Shine TopcoatYou’ll hardly catch me without a manicure. And I’m very much a DIYer. Painting my own nails is relaxing, and it’s fun to admire your handiwork for a week.

Although I’m a patient person, when it comes to the dry time, I’m rooting for the Usain Bolt of nail polish! “Quick dry or die!” is my motto. Okay, that was slightly dramatic, but you get the picture. I don’t like slow-drying polishes that have higher chances of getting nicked or the dreaded sheet marks.

That’s why I always use and highly recommend the Nubar Diamont Seal & Shine Topcoat. It’s Ole Faithful! Continue reading

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Flirt Swatches & Review

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

High gloss, even finish, good consistency, rich color – that’s exactly what you get with Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Flirt. What more could you ask for?

Flirt is a purplish red mixed with warm brown tones. Even with one coat, the color looks rich enough and not sheer. I found the formula really easy to work with: it goes on evenly, and you don’t really need a top coat to add shine. But I applied one anyway just to protect the polish. It can stain your nails, so make sure to also wear a base coat. Continue reading

Orly It’s Not Rocket Science Swatches & Review

Orly It's Not Rocket Science Swatch

Even though I own several Orly polishes, Orly It’s Not Rocket Science was the first one I had to try right away shortly after receiving the package in the mail. I’m a total green nail-polish lover, so this color was right up my alley.

This beauty made its debut in the Orly Cosmic FX Collection (for Fall 2010) that I blogged about recently.

One look at my swatches and you’ll totally understand why I’ve fallen in total lust with this unique shade. Come check it out!

Orly Cosmic FX Collection Swatches, Review & Pictures

Orly Cosmic FX Collection Bottles

When I first saw the promo pictures of the Orly Cosmic FX Collection for fall 2010 on nail-polish blogs, I could hardly stand the wait! Crazy sparkly goodness with some duochromes? Hells yeah – I’m always on board for that!

So when they went on sale for $5 a pop, I didn’t need a written invitation. I bought 4 of the 6 available shades. (Halley’s Comet is gorgeous, but I have a dupe, and Space Cadet was sold out at the time.

(Update: I was sent the  remaining 2 polishes I was missing, so I’ve swatched and reviewed the complete collection!)

Come see all the irresistible polish porn! 😀

Rimmel 60 Seconds Green with Envy is an eye-catcher. Well, at least it caught my eye. Look at it – it’s a bright green color with a strong undertone of blue! If there’s a modern-day Medusa, I imagine this is the nail color she’d wear. Continue reading
