Hard Candy Sky Nail Polish & 20th Anniversary Goodies

Hard Candy SkyIf Hard Candy Sky means anything to you (and it should, if you’re a nailphile), you’ll be in the same corner as me, jumping up and down, squealing with joy!

I came home from work the other day to this wonderful surprise: Hard Candy Sky Nail Polish & 20th Anniversary Goodies!

Yes, that’s right – Hard Candy is celebrating their 20th anniversary this month. (Edit: These items will be available in May.) The spring-themed box immediately brought a huge smile to my face. I remember the 1990s very well. I read Seventeen and YM magazines, soaking up every fashion pictorial, reading each advice column, learning beauty tips, and drooling over the cute guy of the moment.

Hard Candy Sky is a light-blue nail polish that was advertised in many of the magazines I pored over with friends, and its iconic shade brings back so many memories of when I was coming of age.

No, I never had the original Hard Candy Sky nail polish. Money was tighter than shrunken hipster pants when I was growing up. (I rarely had the fashion or makeup that was trendy or ‘cool’, but that didn’t stop me from being happy and appreciating what I did have.)

It really meant so much to me that Hard Candy surprised me with this special 20th anniversary box! 🙂

Also, in case you haven’t heard, Hard Candy is relaunching Sky (the nail polish that started it all) and other classics. Avid makeup and nail junkies, take note! (They’ll be available at Wal-Mart stores.)

In this post, I share with you some quick photos of Hard Candy Sky, the Top Ten Eyeshadow Collection, and a cute USB key. (How did they know that I needed a new USB key? Hehe, and it’s shaped like a Hard Candy nail-polish bottle, which is even better!)

Marsala: Pantone’s Colour of the Year

Maybelline Essie MarsalaPantone’s Colour of the Year is Marsala, and no matter how many times people write about it, I always misread Marsala as Masala. (Perhaps it’s because I’m absolutely in love with Indian food.) 😉

Marsala is described as an earthy reddish brown that’s flattering on a variety of skin tones.

While dramatic, it’s also grounding because of its warmth and sophistication. This is why Marsala is a shade that’s so appealing to many people.

(I have been watching 90210 episodes, and I’m loving it! To clarify, I’m talking about the original 90210 episodes that I grew up with when I was in elementary school, not the new version. So while watching 90210, I’m more into the 1990s vibe than ever before.)

As I get older, I’m learning to appreciate classic hues that withstand the test of time. Marsala is definitely a shade that can be sported any time and anywhere.

Yes, I’m a green fiend, so I loved it when the colour of year was emerald, but surprisingly, I’m more into the Marsala trend. Why? More people can comfortably sport it, and there’s a wide arena of colour interpretation.

Marsala can be dark or neutral, which means that if you’re going for a vampy or natural look, it fits the bill.

In this post, I highlight a few makeup items that fall within the Marsala colour scheme.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil Junkie Swatches & Review

Urban Decay 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Junkie Swatches & ReviewRecently, I placed a Sephora order and took advantage of my VIB Rouge membership to get free shipping.

It must’ve been a long time since I purchased Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencils because the last time I did, I remember that the shade Junkie wasn’t offered as a permanent colour. But…it looks like now it’s available for individual sale! YAY!

I don’t talk about it often (not sure why not), but the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil Junkie is my favourite eye liner to wear, other than a typical black pencil.

I love using Urban Decay Junkie on my lower lash line because it really adds a fun touch that makes brown eyes pop!

It’s about time that I reviewed it, right? Right! 😉

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray Review & Pictures

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray ReviewRemember the Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray that I showed you in a previous Haul of Shame post? No? Haha, well, that’s probably because it was back in November 2012!

I’ve been using Urban Decay All Nighter Monday through Friday for the last 5 months, and there’s still some product left. After using it so much, I now feel comfortable giving you my in-depth report.

You know what? I wanted to try Urban Decay All Nighter for a long time, but what stopped me before was the price, which I found to be high. Plus I had never used any setting spray before.

So, was it worth the money? Will I be repurchasing it? Or was it a let-down? You’ll soon find out!

Note: Since I purchased this in 2012, my bottle has different packaging than the new one out this year. With the new packaging, Urban Decay changed some of the ingredients to improve the product. (I’ve listed the ingredients for both in case you’ll find it helpful.)

Garnier BB Cream Combination to Oily Skin Review, Swatches & Pictures

Garnier BB Cream Combination to Oily Skin Review, Swatches & PicturesThe Garnier BB Cream for Combination to Oily Skin (Light/Medium) is a product that I’ve been wanting to try for a very long time because of all the hype.

You’ll remember that the original formulation fell flat on a lot of key points for many people who were hoping for the ‘miraculous’ skincare/makeup product that BB creams were supposed to be.

This new Combination to Oily Skin version stepped up to the plate, I heard, which is why I decided to try it.

I’ve been wearing it on a daily basis for about a month, and considering that I’ve also been wearing it during these really humid days where the temperature has felt like around 40+ degrees Celsius, I think it’s a great test!

So how did it hold up? Did it live up to all the hype? There’s only one way to find out!

P.S. Thank you, everyone, for voting for me in the Nicole by OPI Blogger Challenge! (I got 97 votes – WOW!) I had fun participating, and I really appreciated your support.

Edit: I just checked Nicole by OPI’s Facebook page, and apparently you can STILL VOTE for me until the end of today (July 19th). So, if you didn’t vote yet, please do so, and “Like” my snake nail art!

MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick Swatches, Review & Pictures

MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick Swatches, Review & PicturesFirst of all, I’d like to wish my fellow Canadians a very HAPPY CANADA DAY! I hope that you’re spending time with your family and/or friends. Enjoy the long weekend!

Can’t say that I’m a Rihanna fan (even though I find a couple of her songs catchy), but when MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick was first released, I knew that I had to get it.

I’m experimenting more with lip colour, and red is a shade that really makes my complexion look awake and healthy.

You’ll remember that MAC Ronnie Red Lipstick reached Holy Grail status for me. Ever since then, I’ve been trying to find more reds to add to my collection.

MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick from the RiRi Hearts MAC Collection is a winner! I’ve seen it on people of all different races, and it looks so flattering!

This is a beautiful, bright red lipstick that I love wearing so much! When it was released again recently along with shades Heaux and RiRi Boy, I decided to get a back-up because it’s so easy to burn through red lipstick.

Funny how I used to be a sheer-lipgloss lover. Now I’m obsessed with matte statement lipsticks!
