** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

The L’Oreal HiP Concentrated Shadow Duo in Wicked is my third product from the HiP collection. I’ve previously tried the Metallic and Bright Duos, neither of which quite blew me out of the water.

I went with Wicked because I have such a soft spot for purples. And I just had to have this vibrant purple that looks like an amethyst gem! So…my thoughts on this L’Oreal HiP shadow? Continue reading

Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer Review – Light

We’ve all been there: waking up in the A.M. with a red blemish that you swear wasn’t there the night before. Good thing someone invented concealers! (Thank you!) I had always used drugstore concealers, but I was seeking something with more staying power.

Then I saw the packaging on the Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer, and like a magnet, I was attracted. Love the gothic-romantic design on the black box! This little concealer ended up setting me back about 3x as much as my previous concealer…so how does it fare? Continue reading

L’Oreal HiP Bright Shadow Duo Review – Showy

Ready to pump up the color volume? Then you’re in for a treat with the L’Oreal HiP Bright Shadow Duo in Showy. This duo definitely is intense, and it’s perfect if you’re looking for something that grabs attention.

I personally like more subtle and natural colors, but I also like to punch things up sometimes. And boy, was I knocked out. I wouldn’t wear these shadows for every occasion; they’re just too-in-your-face. They’re fun though! However, I can’t pass this shadow just based on the color. Continue reading

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation Review – Classic Ivory (Light 2)

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

The Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation may have a whipped and velvety consistency, but it ain’t no fluff! You get the coverage of liquid foundations with the flawless finish of powders.

But while it does have a lot of good aspects to it, a “dream” foundation it is not. I can’t say I’m in love with Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse, but I do have good feelings toward it. Continue reading

NYX Ultra Pearl Mania Review & Swatches

Shimmery shadows are like bling for your eyes without the P. Diddy price tag. NYX Ultra Pearl Mania pigments are so inexpensive that you’ll feel like you got a five-finger discount.

NYX Ultra Pearl ManiaThe bottles are small and cute – seemingly the perfect size to travel with. But because the application itself is messy, I’d advise against taking these on trips unless you’re more experienced with using loose pigments.

I’d recommend trying a few of these NYX Ultra Pearl Mania pigments because they’re affordable, have good color payoff, and provide a pretty shimmer. Continue reading

Almay intense i-color Eyeliner Review – Purple Amethyst for Brown Eyes

** This post was written by Fiona. She no longer blogs for Swatch And Learn. However, Mary still continues to blog and will be happy to reply to your comment. **

Eyeliner is my single most important makeup product. So of course when I heard that Almay has one that contrasts your eye color to make it pop, I had to try it. And what’s even better is the color that’s recommended for my brown eyes is Purple Amethyst! Can’t go wrong with purple.

If it’s based solely on the product, there are probably other eyeliners that I would choose. But this purple wins me over every time. It’s such a pretty purple that I am willing to overlook the one big flaw I find of the Almay intense i-color eyeliner. Continue reading

Everyday Minerals Intensive Formula Review & Pictures – Fairly Light Neutral

Everyday Minerals Base

Until last year, foundation just wasn’t my thing. Liquid foundations felt too heavy like I was wearing a disgusting mask all day. And I wasn’t a fan of tinted moisturizers because of the major color transfer.

Mineral makeup has become more popular over the years for actually being good for your skin, so I thought I’d give it a go. Ever since I tried it, I’ve been using it daily, and it’s been treating my sensitive, acne-prone skin very well!

Find out why the Everyday Minerals Intensive Formula made a believer out of me. Continue reading
