Blog News: I Met Suzi Weiss-Fischmann a 2nd Time & Attended an Exclusive OPI Product Launch (Plus Surprise Giveaway!)

SwatchAndLearn Suzi Weiss-FischmannIf you’ve visited Swatch And Learn or followed me along social-media avenues in the last few days, you’re well aware of some pretty big news: I met Suzi Weiss-Fischmann (Co-Founder, Executive VP & Artistic Director of OPI) a 2nd time and attended an exclusive OPI product launch!

You’ll remember that back on October 14, 2012, I enjoyed an exclusive dinner with her. That was a major event in my blogging career, and I wrote a very long and detailed post about it.

I thought it would be a once-in-a-lifetime deal. But, Fate dealt me a Royal Flush in the game of polish poker. 😉

On February 20 (which is actually around my birthday!), Langton Communications, one of the PR firms I’ve collaborated with since August 2011, e-mailed me an invitation to attend an exclusive OPI product launch of the Fall/Winter 2013 collection! (A big thank you goes out to the entire Langton Communications team. Their professionalism and ability to get things done with flair never ceases to impress me.)

When I read the message on my iPhone, my heart was racing like Usain Bolt.

It’s every nailphile’s dream to meet the creative visionary behind the leading nail-polish company. But to have the opportunity to do it twice? “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!” 😉

There probably was a cloud of smoke rising as I RSVPed. Pig Pen from Charlie Brown would’ve been impressed, even if it wasn’t a cloud of dirt.

Eventually, my heartbeat went back to its usually rhythm (Kes the Band “My Love”, if you must know the exact beat…hehe!).

From now on, I’ll always remember Monday March 18 as the day I got to meet Suzi Weiss-Fischmann a 2nd time!

This time, it was held at the Aria Ristorante in the heart of downtown Toronto. What a classy venue!

In this post, I’ll go into the details about the whole experience. There’s so much I must tell you, and I hope that we can share the excitement together as nailphiles!

Also, I’m sneaking in a surprise giveaway for my blog readers. I hope you like it! 😉

Edit: CONGRATULATIONS, Floria! You won my surprise giveaway for an autographed bottle of OPI The Man With The Golden Gun! Please reply to my e-mail within 48 hours to claim your prize. Thanks to everyone for participating!

OPI Matte Top Coat Press Release & Promo Picture

OPI Matte Top Coat Press Release & Promo PictureA manicure that looks wet and shiny is true love to me, but sometimes it’s fun to play with a matte look.

Have you seen glitter polishes with a matte top coat? They look like sea glass and have a whole other mesmerizing effect!

Perhaps you’re interested in trying the look, but you don’t want to invest yet in a full bottle of a matte polish.

This is where the OPI Matte Top Coat comes in.

You can use it over any of your existing nail polishes, and it gives you the mattified look.

If you use it with a nail striper, you could even create neat effects – like matte tiger stripes over a shiny base.

OPI’s PR has a bottle of this heading my way, so I’ll be sure to try it out and give you a full report in a future review post.

OPI San Francisco Collection Swatches, Pictures & Press Release

OPI San Francisco Collection Swatches, Pictures & Press ReleaseEver felt like you were in a fairy tale and needed to pinch yourself to make sure that something was really happening and that it wasn’t just a wonderful dream?

I’m currently in that state. But I can’t keep pinching myself or I’ll begin to resemble Swiss cheese. 😉

After attending an exclusive OPI product launch event with Suzi Weiss-Fischmann on Monday, I was surprised and ecstatic when PR gave me the entire 15-bottle set plus keepsakes to take home!

(More details to come in a future blog post dedicated solely to sharing my thoughts on the once-in-a-lifetime event.)

Yesterday, I shared with you swatches of the OPI Bond Girls Collection, which was one of the collections unveiled.

Today, I’m very excited to show you the OPI San Francisco Collection for Fall/Winter 2013 that will be available starting August 7th.

There’s a good variety of shades, and there are 3 new Liquid Sands! (Don’t know about you, but I can’t get enough of the Liquid Sand finish. In particular, Alcatraz…Rocks is the one that is back-up worthy. Absolutely stunning!)

In this post, I’ll share with you swatches, close-up bottle shots, and the official press release. Just like with my OPI Bond Girls Collection post, this one is an overview. When I wear each shade as a full manicure, I’ll put together separate review posts that go into further depth, as usual.

OPI Bond Girls Collection Swatches, Pictures & Press Release

OPI Bond Girls Collection Swatches, Photos & Press ReleaseWith the OPI Bond Girls Collection due out at the beginning of May, you can channel your inner Bond Girl…even if you’re wearing sweatpants and fuzzy rabbit slippers while noisily munching on buttered popcorn. (I can’t confirm or deny that I’m describing myself at this very moment.) 😉

As you know, yesterday, I had an incredible opportunity to attend an exclusive product launch with Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of OPI! (I’ll be working on a detailed post to share my experience with all of you, so stay tuned! I also have something special planned for my readers. Hint hint! Edit: Click on the above link to the post. It’s live now!)

There were actually two collections revealed – the OPI Bond Girls Collection was one of them.

Get this – the collection introduces six brand new Liquid Sand shades! (I’m so excited about this because I’ve been a big fan of the Liquid Sand finish ever since I tried the Mariah Carey by OPI Collection ones!)

And, oh my goodness, in the swag bag they gave out at the end of the event, I received the entire collection! (Christmas clearly can come any time of year for a ‘big kid’ like me.) I’m so thankful to Suzi and the Langton Communications staff for their continued generosity and high level of professionalism!

In this post, I’ve included photos of the actual bottles in the OPI Bond Girls Collection, and I’ve typed up the press release they included in the swag bag.

Plus, since they conveniently included nail boards with swatches, I’ve photographed all those, too, so you can see each polish in action and so you’ll know how it’ll really look on your nails!

(When I wear each shade and eventually review them, expect the usual in-depth descriptions and information. But, for now, here’s a quick look at the exciting collection of new Liquid Sands! Think of this post like an overview.)

Blog News: Today I’m Attending an Exclusive OPI Event with Suzi Weiss-Fischmann

I’ve kept this quiet for a while, but I’m finally letting the cat out of the bag! 🙂

You may remember that back on October 14, 2012, I was invited to attend an exclusive dinner with Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, the Executive Vice President and Artistic Director of OPI.

Well, I was invited to another fabulous event! I feel so honoured to have such an opportunity!

This morning, I’m heading over for an exclusive unveiling of the OPI Fall/Winter 2013 product launch!

Suzi Weiss-Fischmann will be there, and PR has arranged a brief period where I’ll get to speak with Suzi one-on-one! This event is projected to have 60 attendees, so it’s a much larger venue than the one I previously attended.

Thanks to my awesome boss, I was able to take the day off work to go to this once-in-a-lifetime event!

We will have lunch at a fancy restaurant, and my tummy is looking forward to everything that awaits. 😉

To put the icing on the cake, I was also offered an opportunity to have a professional mini manicure with the colours from the OPI Fall/Winter 2013 collection!

(I’m curious to see the new shades, but also I’m excited since this will be my very first professional manicure! I’ve never gone to the nail salon before. I’ve always just painted my own nails, so I’m curious to see the techniques of a professional.)

After the event, I’ll surely put together a post to tell you all about it.

I’m bringing my DSLR camera and my iPhone, so I’ll probably snap a few photos to share with you. More details to come!

(Psst! If everything works out, I hope to have a little ‘surprise’ for my blog readers. Hint hint!) 😉

Smorgasbord Sundays: I Love Kes the Band & Reggae Music

Kes the Band Tuesday on the Rocks Reggae MusicAs you know, I love all music genres. I think my most recent posts about music were on Lana Del Rey (who I still very much love) and some other artists.

Lately, though, I’ve been listening to a lot of reggae. Of course, Bob Marley is a must, but I’ve also been spinning songs by Peter Tosh.

And I’ve recently ‘discovered’ Kes the Band. I’m so in love with the two singles: My Love and Tuesday on the Rocks. (I’ve included links to their YouTube music videos later on in this post.)

I’ve also purchased an album called Gyal Season Riddim, which features various reggae artists. It’s soooo good that I’ve literally been listening to it daily for over a week now.

The thing I love about reggae music is that it’s so upbeat and, of course, it reminds you of warm weather. When the weather’s dismal, play reggae music, and you’re transported back to a summer beach party. Reggae always puts a smile on my face.

Yellow Nail-Polish Comparison Swatches & Photos

Yellow Nail Polish Comparison SwatchesAs spring inches closer, I’m sure I’ll be reaching more for yellow nail polishes. They never fail to boost my spirits because they’re so sunny!

I thought it would be interesting to do a Yellow Nail-Polish Comparison featuring Orly Spark, NCLA Tennis Anyone?, and Nicole by OPI Hit the Lights.

This might be helpful to those who have never worn yellow nail polish and are looking to buy one. Although I love yellow polish, I know that a lot of people will be satisfied with just one. 😉

I want to collect as many yellows as possible just because there aren’t too many in my stash in comparison to greens, purples, and blues.
