I hope that you’re all having a great Labour Day! This morning, I’ll be working a bit on the blog – (I have a lot of reviews on OPI and China Glaze polishes coming up!)
Later on, I’ll be hanging out with my boyfriend for some much-needed relaxation. What will you be up to?
Today, I have the great pleasure of showcasing another Adorn nail polish, – Adorn Landlocked Mermaid, which is the second lacquer from them that I’ve tried.
There’s something very mesmerizing about this polish. It reflects the light in such a way that the shimmer dances like fairies who’ve had just a tad too much spiked woodland punch.
It looks like a shimmery waterfall from a fairytale!

Adorn Landlocked Mermaid Review
Colour
Whoa, what a gorgeous colour! It shimmers like the twinkle in a mad scientist’s eye. How do I know this? *Eyes twinkle* 😉
In the bottle, the duochrome of blue-green-purple is more apparent than it is on your nail. But, I was pleased to see that, at certain angles, I was able to notice this colour shift on my nails as well.
The predominant colour is bluish green, and then you get the hint of purple, which is a fun surprise.
Landlocked Mermaid is just the perfect name for this polish because it’s indeed very aquatic and mermaid-like. I love it!
Finish
Landlocked Mermaid by Adorn has a super-shimmery finish that’s smooth, not gritty. It’s the kind of finish that looks the same whether you apply a top coat or not. (I, of course, added a shiny top coat to enhance the wear of my manicure.)
Application & Formula
The polish glides effortlessly onto the nails and has a thin, sheer formula. I expected this before wearing the polish because on their website, they clearly advertise it as being sheer, not opaque.
If you wear this solo like I did, you’ll need to use many coats to build it up so it won’t show Visible Nail Line. (I used 4 coats to achieve the coverage you see in my photos.)
Although I like the colour, because of the sheerness, I consider this to be more of a layering nail polish.
You can put a black polish underneath for a different look, or you can maintain the original colour by layering a teal polish such as Adorn Age of Aquarius, which I previous reviewed in detail not long ago!
I also think it would be interesting to layer this over a contrasting shade to see what new effects it could create. Using this over a red nail polish immediately springs to mind.
Big-5 Free, Vegan & Animal-Friendly
If you’re making conscious shopping decisions to buy nail polish that doesn’t contain the “Big-3” chemicals, Toluene, Formaldehyde, and DBP, you’ll be happy to know that Adorn nail polishes don’t have any of those! In addition, they also don’t contain Formaldehyde Resin or Camphor.
And you’ll also be pleased to learn that this brand is vegan and cruelty-free!

Final Verdict: 7/10
I’m very honoured to have received Adorn Landlocked Mermaid because it’s always exciting to try out new nail-polish brands! 🙂 Many thanks to Adorn!
Although this polish was sheer, I know that I’ll be using it for interesting layering effects. It’s very pretty, indeed!
Would you wear this solo or over another nail polish? Have you tried any Adorn polishes before?
Edit: Yay! It’s nice to see that Adorn supports bloggers!
So pretty! I ordered a polish from Indigo Bananas that is pretty close to this, so I’ll wait till that shows up- but if it doesn’t kill the lemming I may just buy it 🙂

Hey Gelic’ Nail Art!
Aww, thank you so much for your encouragement! Keeps me motivated!
What a heavenly lacquer 😀
Hey Eva!
Yes, it’s so shimmery, it was hard to not keep staring at it! 😉
This color is beautiful. I will be at a parade watching for the marching band my son is in. And being happy I’m not laboring after my horrible weekend at work!
Hey Barbara!
Hope you had a lot of fun at the parade! You must’ve been so proud of your son. It’s so difficult to play an instrument and also walk in a parade. I’ve never done it in a parade, but I’ve been in a band.
How long has your son been in the band? And what instrument does he play?
LOVE this shade! the reference to mermaids is 100% perfect 🙂
