China Glaze Sexagon Review
Although I had China Glaze Sexagon in my nail-polish stash for a while, I only took it out on the town now if you can’t believe it! This is a beautiful subtle holo nail polish (well, as subtle as holo polishes can be).
The light silver looks subdued in artificial light – very pretty and very soft. But let the sun shine on it, and whoa, the rainbow on your nails is so in-your-face like a disco ball in a dark club.
The rainbow effect can best be described as vertical pixel-like lines of color. I can see orange, blue, green, and other colors depending on how the light hits my nails. It’s really mesmerizing, and I find myself staring at my nails.
As for the formula, it’s spot on! I skipped my usual base coat (Nail Tek Foundation III) to see if it would affect the wear of a holo polish. I’m pleased to report that China Glaze’s formula is nothing short of amazing – I don’t have a single chip, and I’ve been wearing it for 5 days now. (The swatches you see on this page are all taken on Day 5!) I did, however, wear my usual 1 coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat to lock in the color.
When you brush China Glaze Sexagon on your nails, it glides on effortlessly. It’s thin, but not tricky to manage. It goes on slightly sheer, so you’ll need at least 3 coats for full opacity. (You can try 4 coats if you want to intensify the holo effect even more. I stopped at 3rd base…hehe!)
And wow, does it ever dry fast! By the time I was done painting my baby finger on my right hand, the nails on my left hand were dry! So, even though this polish requires a minimum of 3 coats, it’s bearable because you can finish your manicure fast. (Plus it dries smooth, not gritty!)
Although I’m not really a fan of silver in general, I do like this polish because it has personality. China Glaze Sexagon would make a wonderful holiday manicure or a manicure for any other special occasion you have planned.

Final Verdict: 8.5/10
If you want to sport a fun color that’s a surefire conversation starter, this is it! And even though it looks like it would be high-maintenance, it really isn’t since with minimal effort, you get long-lasting results. This is definitely not for the shy violets out there because this puts the spotlight on your nails!

Damn. I think I caught the nail polish train a few stops too late for holographics. Though I should soon be receiving one of the old Color Club ones – though I had to order all the way from the States. It’s a long, long way to New Zealand and tracker claims it hasn’t even left America yet …
Hey, but: do you know of any holographics that are actually still in production (and I am meaning linear holographics)? Because it seems to me that all the companies decided, at once, to stop manufacturing them. And that’s a crying shame.

Linear holographic polishes are definitely more rare than the scattered versions. I understand how frustrated you and others are that companies seem to hold back on making more. I wonder if it has something to do with the pigment availability…

It’s seriously one of the most gorgeous holos out there, and it’s pretty unusual to find a green holo let alone a linear green holo like this. I suggest snatching a bottle (or two like me) before they discontinue it.
