While it photographs on the blue side, to the naked eye, CND Vinylux Splash of Teal has perhaps a few drops of green in the mixture, which allows it to stay true to its name. It’s indeed a teal and less of a sky blue.

CND Vinylux Splash of Teal Review

Colour

If you’re a fan of blues with a hint of green, you will enjoy CND Splash of Teal. It’s a statement colour that complements a wide variety of skin tones. Plus since it isn’t too ‘out there,’ I feel that a lot of people will be able to pull this off with style!

The saturated jewel-tone is what makes this nail polish drool-worthy. It’s not too bright or too dark, so while teals aren’t necessarily the first colour that springs to mind when you think of easy elegance, this one fits the bill nicely.

Finish

A classic creme finish is always a winner. Not only does the simple finish allow the colour to be the true star of the show, but it lends itself to great versatility. Whether you choose a solid manicure or apply this as a base for nail stamping, you will pull this polish out from your stash time and time again.

Application & Formula

CND Splash of Teal was easy to apply and control with the brush.

The formula doesn’t seem to be a full-on creme, as there is a bit of translucency. For this reason, it’s not the most pigmented creme that I’ve come across, however, it’s pigmented enough so that you can use three thin coats or two generous coats to achieve full opacity. (I used two coats.)

The slightly jelly-ish formula allows the polish to brush onto your nails more smoothly and retain a shine, even before applying your favourite top coat.

Longevity

I don’t usually comment on how long a nail polish lasts, but since CND Vinylux lacquers are advertised as lasting up to 7 days, I thought I’d share my experience with you regarding that claim.

Polishes will react with each person’s nail chemistry differently, so what works for me may not work for someone else. It’s all about trial and error sometimes because a base and/or top coat may or may not play well with a particular polish.

I find that most nail polishes last a long time on my nails naturally, however, I don’t always wear the same manicure for a full week (because of blogging and wanting to share swatches on my social media of different colours).

In this situation, though, I wore CND Splash of Teal for over a week. It didn’t chip, and it still looked pretty decent, despite the fact that I don’t ‘baby’ my nails. I wash dishes by hand (sometimes without gloves), I pick stickers off packages, and I generally use my nails as tools (which to most nail bloggers is a no-no). Considering that CND Splash of Teal lasted through all of that impressed me.

Do You Have to Wear It with the CND Vinylux Weekly Top Coat?

Although the top coat is designed to ensure that your Vinylux manicure lasts its longest, you don’t necessarily have to invest in wearing the matching top coat. (I wore my usual top coat and still had great results. However, if you find that Vinylux polishes don’t usually last on you, it’s probably worth checking out the top coat to see if it helps.)

Does It Stain Your Skin or Nails?

With saturated teals like this, I’m always a little wary that they’ll heavily stain the cuticles or nails, but when I removed this polish, I was pleasantly surprised that it came off without a hitch. No scrubbing to ‘de-Smurfify’ my fingers! 😉 (I think that because of the formula I described above, that also helps to prevent staining.)

CND Vinylux Splash of Teal has me dreaming about summer, even though it’s still winter! I love the bold colour and how effortless the formula is to apply.
