One of my favourite childhood movies is Disney’s 1951 classic, Alice in Wonderland. And even if you’re a new visitor to Swatch And Learn, you probably gathered that much, considering that I’ve got a little Cheshire Cat lurking in the blog header. 😉
Needless to say, the OPI Alice Through the Looking Glass Collection appealed to me right away, and although I shared swatches of the entire collection on here already, I was compelled to wear OPI The I’s Have It as the first full manicure!
The eyes are the windows to the soul, and according to this nail polish, The “I’s” Have It!
It screams Alice like books with nothing but pictures. (Remember that scene from the movie? Hehe, being a hardcore writer down to the bone, that was the only part in the film that gave me an internal “Nooooooo!” A book with only pictures lacks the mental imagery that only words are powerful enough to conjure. I firmly believe that the pen is mightier than the sword.)

OPI The I’s Have It Review
Colour
The I’s Have It by OPI is a gorgeous blue that’s just a hop, skip, and a jump from turning into a periwinkle. Not quite! Still, it’s unmistakably beautiful in its own right.
What I love is that in brighter lighting, it looks lighter, but, as you can see, when viewing it in natural (or your typical) lighting, it appears to be more saturated. Either way, it was a treat to wear, and I believe that it’s the kind of blue that would easily flatter a wide variety of skin tones from the fairest to the richest with ease.
Finish
The creme finish may be simple, but it’s also classic, which suits Alice to an ‘unbirthday party tea’…even if it is no nonsense! 😉
Since the finish is a creme, all the attention is on the gorgeous colour.
Application & Formula
Like many of OPI’s great nail-polish formulas, The I’s Have It by OPI was no exception. It applied smoothly and was very creamy.
To get the coverage you see in my photos, I only needed to paint my typical two coats, and it was an enjoyable experience because I didn’t have to apply the polish carefully. It glided on effortlessly and covered any uneven areas quickly.
At the time of writing this review, I’m still wearing this nail polish, and I’ve been wearing it since I went to Harbourfront in Toronto (as I mentioned in another post). If it stains my nails after I remove it in a day or so, I’ll update this section and let you know. (Back when I did quick swatches of the entire collection, though, I don’t remember any staining.)
Ingredients
OPI The I’s Have It doesn’t contain any Formaldehyde, Toluene, or DBP.

Final Verdict: 9/10
As a nail blogger, I tend to switch up my manicure very often. When I stick to the same colour for a few days, it usually means that I’ve fallen for the shade. The fact that I’ve worn this for several consecutive days should speak volumes! 🙂 Yes, I love it, and the Final Verdict score reflects that.
Which of the other OPI Alice Through the Looking Glass Collection colours are you interested in seeing in-depth reviews on?
I’m a HUGE Alice in Wonderland fan-the book, the movies, all of it. I have Absolutely Alice but I think I might have to get this one too. It’s just so pretty. Thanks for sharing it with us and as always it look great on you!
Hey Melissa!
Will you also be watching the new Alice Through the Looking Glass movie? I hope it’ll be good!
I’m going to try to go see it. The first one was really good and I think this one will be too, if not better than the first. I also love the original animated 1951 animated version.
Hey Melissa!
I’m keeping my fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that it’ll be good. Truth be told, the first one with Johnny Depp left me disappointed. The 1951 version is still by far my favourite!
Oooh, I don’t need any more polishes, but blue is my biggest weakness and that color is beautiful! Do you think it’s similar enough to Essie’s Bikini So Teeny that I don’t need both?
Hey Mary!
Hmm, that’s a good question! I haven’t put them side-by-side, but from the top of my head, the OPI is similar to Essie’s Bikini So Teeny. Essie has extremely subtle shimmer (that doesn’t seem to translate much onto the nails) and OPI has a 100% creme finish. In the end, on the nails, they’re very similar.
Unless you’re a hardcore collector, I think it’s safe for you to pass on this if you have the Essie. Even if it may not be a dead-on dupe, it’s close enough. Hope that helps!
The 1951 Alice in Wonderland film is one of my all time favorites too, that’s why I had to pick up most of this collection! I have not worn this one yet, but seeing all your pretty swatches makes me want to get it on my nails right now! It doesn’t seem like a super unique color, but there’s still something special about it :]
Hey Ashley!
I agree with you about it not being a totally thiking-outside-of-the-box colour, but that it’s still captivating. There’s something about looking so fresh and clean without being stark that reels me in!
Thanks for stopping by to leave a comment. I’ve also noticed that you’ve been liking my photos on Instagram. Thanks! 🙂 Really appreciate your support!
This is so pretty! But I also already have Essie – Bikini so Teeny… Hmm.
Can You PLEASE make a comparison between this one, Sailing & Nailing and What’s with the Cattitude?
Hey Andrea!
I need to find my bottle of Bikini So Teeny. Seems to have disappeared from me at the moment, but when I find it, I’ll edit this post to include the comparison swatches.
