A while back, I had the pleasure of test-driving the 100% natural Consonant Natural Foaming Face Wash (Pure Unscented) in the cute travel-sized can.
Considering that the Consonant Natural Foaming Face Wash won two awards (Globe and Mail Style Beauty Awards’ Best Cleanser and Beauty Connexion’s Top Beauty Product), it had a lot to live up to.
Full of nourishing botanicals such as Tea Tree Oil and Grape Seed Oil to hydrate the skin, the Consonant face wash also promises to eliminate an uneven skin tone and fight blemishes.
Additionally, it’s supposed to be able to remove makeup (even stubborn eye makeup), and it’s pH-balanced.
So how did it fare? Learn more about my experience in this post!

Consonant Natural Foaming Face Wash Review
Fragrance
The way skincare smells is very important to me, not just because I’m more likely to use something that is appealing, but also because some fragrances can be harsh and irritate my sensitive skin.
Unlike many facial cleansers on the market, the Consonant Natural Foaming Face Wash doesn’t smell like perfume. It’s not fragranced, yet it isn’t without a smell.
To me, it reminds me a bit of the smell of a swimming pool, and while some people may not like it, I realize that because there aren’t any added fragrances, that’s why it smells like this. But we’re so used to fragrance being added to so many beauty products that when something is more natural, it smells ‘different.’
Efficacy
The Consonant Natural Foaming Face Wash cleanses skin thoroughly, despite it feeling gentle. I was surprised that it removed my long-wearing foundation quite easily. Also, my face didn’t feel parched and tight because the formulation is pH-balanced.
My eyeliner came off easily, but my waterproof mascara clung on for dear life! I would have to rub my eyes a lot, if I wanted to remove it.
The best way that worked for me was to first wet my face with water prior to lathering up the Consonant face wash. After using circular motions to lift my makeup and cleanse my face, I used cotton pads moistened with water to wipe my eyes and face. Finally, I rinsed all the cleanser off and continued with my usual serum and moisturizer.
I really like how the Consonant foaming face wash doesn’t dry out my skin. After cleansing, it feels fresh and comfortable. This is interesting to me because most foaming cleansers tend to be drying.
Also, some foaming cleansers come out of the can all fluffy, but then when you rub them onto your face, the foam goes away and turns into a milky consistency. The Consonant foaming facial cleanser isn’t like that. The foam remains fluffy, even when you work it into your skin. I really appreciate that!
Ingredients
If you’re looking for a facial cleanser that’s 100% natural, you’ll love this foaming face wash. Some of the ingredients are also certified organic!
Packaging
I really like the pump dispenser because it keeps the product fresher for longer, and it helps you dispense the cleanser in a controlled manner.
The rest of the packaging is very simple, which is fine by me. When it comes to skincare, I don’t need any special bells and whistles. Just as with people, it’s the inside that counts!

Final Verdict: 8/10
If you’re looking for a natural alternative to the chemical-laden facial cleansers because you have allergies or just want to try something different, I recommend that you try the Consonant Natural Foaming Face Wash!
It’s great to use on a daily basis, and I love how it leaves my face feeling fresh and clean without stripping it of moisture.
Do you change up your facial cleanser often or stick to a tried-and-true one? Are you a fan of foaming cleansers? Do you reach for unscented skincare more than scented skincare?
