OPI Be There in a Prosecco Swatches & Review

OPI Be There in a Prosecco Swatches & Review

OPI Be There in a Prosecco from the Venice Collection that I did a Quick Look post on, reminds me of extra-creamy French vanilla, but it could just be that I have a sweet tooth.

Although you won’t catch me wearing shades like this often, when I do, I tend to appreciate them.

OPI Be There in a Prosecco is a wonderful palate cleanser to wear when you’re in between peppy or vampy nail polishes.

Against my skin tone, it’s several shades lighter and has a beige-yellow undertone that I found to be flattering and brightening. It has a clean appearance without veering into stark territory, and it has the soft, everyday elegance that I enjoy. Plus it pairs well with nearly anything!

I like the name, as it suggests urgency. I’m a fast worker, and I respect those who also are able to get things done quickly and efficiently without relying on a crutch of worn-out excuses or not getting around to things, due to laziness. Save the ‘humming and hawing’ for singing in the shower. Okay, maybe just the humming part. I’m not sure how you’d ‘haw,’ unless it’s a ‘hee-haw’…

Yup, I get that all from the polish name. Hehe! There’s a lot to be said about a name. After all, a rose might not smell as sweet if it were called a thistle or a skunk cabbage. (Extra points to those who got that reference.)

Key Notes

OPI Be There in a Prosecco Review

Colour

Be There in a Prosecco by OPI is the kind of nail polish that, to me, always seems appropriate in any situation…unless you’re attending a death-metal concert. (In that case, maybe you could do some black nail art on top, so it’d still work!)

The creamy beige is simple, fresh, and elegant. It suits traditional office settings like the bank, but you could still rock it at a quirky marketing agency. It coordinates with nearly anything in your wardrobe, and, if you have a similar skin tone, it makes your nails look clean and bright instead of muddy or sickly.

With beiges, taupes, and tans, I think finding the right undertone is the trickiest part. It’s like liquid foundation for your nails, except, if you want a bright look, you will want to pick a shade that’s a few or several steps lighter than your skin tone instead of matching your skin exactly.

Sometimes, if you choose an ‘off’ shade, it can make your nails look like they have Band-Aids on them. (I’m not a fan of that, but if you are, hey, rock it! You’re free to express yourself with your nails how you choose. That’s the fun and liberating part about it.)

Finish

Be There in a Prosecco by OPI has a creme finish that’s smooth like butter. It’s a no-nonsense finish, which has a lot of versatility. (Even if you wouldn’t wear it solo like I did, think of all the nail art you could do. Maybe some lace stamping on top?)

Application & Formula

The formula was smooth and easy to paint with, but I definitely needed three coats to get full coverage like what you see in my photos. I expected that because the shade is so light.

Pros

  • Creamy, elegant & clean appearance
  • Coordinates with a lot of things in most people’s wardrobe
  • Suitable for nearly any occasion
  • Versatile – can be used as a base for lots of nail art

Cons

  • Needs 3 coats to get full coverage with no streaks

Final Verdict: 7.5/10

I really liked wearing OPI Be There in a Prosecco, and even though a 7.5 isn’t a tremendously high Final Verdict, for a colour like this, it is! I rarely fall for soft, demure shades like this, and the fact that I enjoyed it speaks louder than a person screaming with a megaphone!

How do you tend to wear soft colours like this – solo or with a design on top? Do you tend to wear more conservative or loud manicures? Will you be there in a ‘prosecco’?

i love this color on your nails! it looks very creamy and delicious! i do wear colors like this one but not too often- sometimes i just don’t feel so much like a nut and want something nude or neutral on muh tips. like essie ‘spin the bottle’ or opi ‘my vampire is buff’, for example. love this color…but… i haven’t picked it up yet bc i feel like i just don’t do these colors often enough to own hundreds of them lol
however, i have been known to change my mind ;-D love ur swatches and review- makes it very tempting

It’s a really lovely color, but I already have several other polishes in a similar shade. Looks great on you as always Mary. Thanks for sharing.
