Essie Fall 2015 Collection Swatches, Bottle Shots & Pictures

Essie Fall 2015 CollectionOn Friday, I received a package from PR: the Essie Fall 2015 Collection!

It includes six new shades designed by Essie’s Global Colour Designer, Rebecca Minkoff: Leggy Legend, Color Binge, With the Band, In the Lobby, Bell-Bottom Blues, and Frock ‘n Roll.

The Essie Fall 2015 Collection will officially hit Canadian drugstores, salons, and other beauty destinations beginning August 25th.

In this post, I’ve got a sneak peek at the entire collection, as well as a glimpse into part of the press booklet.

I snapped lots of photos, so you’ll see my quick swatches, up-close bottle shots, and even a nail-art design that you can recreate using the shades in this collection (I included the tutorial).

As usual, stay tuned because I’ll be wearing some of these as full manicures, and in-depth reviews with tons of swatches will follow.

The colours I’m most excited about and that I’ll probably wear first are Leggy Legend (the bronze), Frock ‘n Roll (the shimmery espresso), and Bell-Bottom Blues (obviously the blue). However, I’m itching to try the orange red because, at the time I’m writing this post, I’m craving something bright. So maybe that one will be first.

Essie Rock Legend Nail Art Idea

In the press booklet, there were several nail-art designs. (If you followed me on Snapchat under the username “swatchandlearn” on Saturday,  I shared a few with you that aren’t in this blog post.)

Below is one that came with an official tutorial:

Essie Nail Art Rock Legend

It incorporates the following colours from the Essie Fall 2015 Collection:

Here’s how you can get the look:

  • Step 1: After a thin layer of First Base Base Coat, apply two coats of In the Lobby.
  • Step 2: Using a striping brush dipped in Leggy Legend, apply small horizontal brush strokes in wavy lines across the width of the nail. There should be 2-4 horizontal lines per nail.
  • Step 3: Using smaller strokes, repeat Step 2 with Frock ‘n Roll, adding another set of wavy lines under the first. Seal with Good to Go Top Coat.

Tip: Creating the lines with small vertical strokes gives the nail a textured look.

Rock Out in Power Colour

Introducing the Essie Fall 2015 Collection

Lights? Check. Sound? Check. Inspiring colour? You’re on! Taking center stage this season is iconic rock ‘n’ roll royalty: the queen of the entourage, the unstoppable, impossibly stylish muse. Darling of the 1970’s music scene, everyone on the a-list wants her or wants to be her. She turns up at every gig, fashionably late and perfectly turned-out. How does she do it?

Or, how doesn’t she do it? In a fitted suede trench and custom bell-bottom blues, she’s the perfectly stylish match for rock star paramours like Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton and fashionable friend to sirens like Joni Mitchell and Janis Joplin. Backstage. On tour. The endless parties. The hotel hotspots. The tabloid gossip. Rule number one: If you want to be a muse: dress for success. It’s easy to turn style into a career-catapulting platform, if you are a leggy legend. Mix major attitude and rebellious spirit with a peasant blouse and knee-high boots, finish with a fiercely alluring manicure and you’re good to go.

The six new compelling shades of the Essie Fall collection capture the powerful allure of the ingenues of the rock era with intensely saturated hues. Deep reds solder with brazen beauty. Midnight blue wields hypnotic power. Shimmering bronze like molten lamé, emerges from the night and onto the dance floor.

Essie’s Fall 2015 Collection will be available as of August 25, 2015 in drugstores, salons and other beauty destinations across Canada at a suggested retail price of $9.99.

Essie Fall 2015 Collection Editor’s Note

from Rebecca Minkoff (Global Colour Designer)

What makes a great Essie colour? How do Essie polishes always manage to capture the spirit of the moment with wit, style and such effortless grace? As the brand’s new Global Colour Designer, it’s something I’ve been asking myself again and again since creating my very first Essie Collection for Spring 2015. I’m beyond thrilled to be able to channel Essie’s compelling cool for newcomers and brand devotees alike – it’s going to be so much fun to play in the world of Essie! I have always been a huge fan of the brand – full disclosure: I’m a total Essie girl. I believe beautifully dressed nails are the ultimate fashion accessory – they put the perfect punctuation on a great look and take it to the next level.

No women made more of their trendsetting style than the stunning ladies who infiltrated the ranks of rock ‘n’ roll in the influential, chic, anything-goes 70’s. The effortless beauty and edgy elegance of the female rockers and rockstar muses were the driving force behind my collection for Essie. Women like Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks, who wrote and inspired some of the greatest rock ballads and soaring love anthems of the 20th century – those songs became my soundtrack as I put the finishing touches on the six Fall shades.

Rock ‘n’ roll is close to my heart – I guess you could say I’m with the band myself. That’s how I met my husband! He was performing with his band, and I fell for him. Music has become so central to my life, that all my runway presentations feature live musical accompaniment. You just can’t beat the kinetic energy of live music. Just like a color binge it’s hypnotic.

Seize the moment to star in shades tailor made to rock,

Rebecca Minkoff
Global Colour Designer

Which colour are you looking forward to the most? Is fall your favourite season, too? Will you be doing any nail art with these shades?
