At work, the hand soap is so abrasive and far from moisturizing. (Sometimes I feel like it brings the desert to my hands!)
Especially since I tend to wash my hands a few times throughout the day, and I also wash my dishes that I use during my lunch break, my cuticles and hands tend to look and feel really dry and uncomfortable.

For a few weeks, I’ve been using the Consonant Intensive Therapy Organic Hand Cream, which is unscented, and I’m now at the point where I’m ready to share my thoughts on it with you.

Consonant Intensive Therapy Organic Hand Cream Review
Scent
The Consonant Intensive Therapy Organic Hand Cream is unscented, so if you have allergies or you just want to minimize your exposure to unnecessary fragrances, this is a good choice.
Despite not having perfume added to the formulation, the cream has a smell. This is normal. In fact, many companies add fragrances to cover up the natural smell and make it ‘commercially pleasing’ to the nose like perfume or to cancel out the natural smell and give it a neutral scent. (I wear perfume daily, and I’m not opposed to scented products, but I thought I’d address this because unscented doesn’t necessarily mean ‘no smell’.)
The Intensive Therapy Organic Hand Cream by Consonant doesn’t have a hit-you-with-bricks smell, but it’s also not neutral.
I don’t think it would clash with a perfume you’re wearing because it’s pretty subtle. It’s challenging to pinpoint it exactly, but I’d describe it as smelling almost herbal.
Efficacy
When hand creams or lotions just sit on top of the skin without absorbing quickly, it feels nasty to me, and I feel like it isn’t addressing the dry skin.
I’m pleased to report that Consonant Skincare’s Intensive Therapy Organic Hand Cream went straight to work from the minute I rubbed it into my skin. My hands drank it up because they immediately looked softer and felt comfortable. It doesn’t just coat the top layer of your skin. It penetrates, which provides better results over time.
This is excellent for people like me who don’t put on cream after every single hand washing. Because the formula is so effective at moisturizing, you don’t need to slather the stuff on very often to reap the rewards. To me, that’s a tell-tale sign of a great hand cream.
Creamy Regular Finish Formulation
The Consonant hand cream comes in two different finishes: Creamy Regular Finish (the one I have) and the Dry Finish.
Since I have never tried the Dry Finish, I can’t comment on how it feels or if it hydrates well.
The Creamy Regular Finish has an interesting consistency. When I squeeze a small amount out of the tube, the cream seems to be on the thin-medium side. But, when I rub it into my hands, it feels thicker!
It absorbs into my skin quickly and easily, and it doesn’t leave behind a greasy residue. (Greasiness can drive me bonkers!)
Just make sure that you don’t over-apply. I find that with this cream, you can get away with using less than you think you need, and it still works.
Ingredients
If you carefully inspect the list of ingredients in my photos of the tube, you’ll see that there are quite a few that are certified organic. Additionally, this hand cream is 100% natural, so if you’re in the market for something that doesn’t contain chemicals, synthetic fragrances, or dyes, this would be a great choice.
Included are Vitamin E (a natural antioxidant), Chamomile, Rosemary, and Ginseng extracts, among other skin-loving ingredients.
Packaging
My tube of Intensive Therapy Organic Hand Cream by Consonant Skincare is 30 mL, which is the travel size. (It’s also available in a 125 mL tube, as well as value packs with 2 and 3 tubes.)
If you’re keeping a tube at home, the larger size is best. But, if you’re like me and carry a small handbag (or if you have travel plans), the 30 mL tube is ideal. It fits nicely, and it contains enough product to last you a significant amount of time.
I really appreciate how the tube is sealed. This is important to me because it keeps the hand cream from getting contaminated, and I think it helps to prevent the product from breaking down and becoming less effective or drying out. Only when you open it and start to use it will the product come into contact with the air.
For the travel size, I also like how it has a secure screw-on cap. Flip-up caps are okay for tubes that you plan to keep in the bathroom at home, but for travel sizes that I carry in my purse or in a suitcase, I like screw-on lids because they give me peace of mind that they won’t accidentally open and create a mess.
I also like how the packaging is no-nonsense. While I love novelty packaging for makeup, nail polish, etc., when it comes to skincare, I don’t care how ‘pretty’ the packaging looks because the skincare inside is what counts.
The simple, clean packaging makes the skincare the real focus. No gimmicky bells and whistles, which I respect.

I’m very impressed with the Consonant Skincare hand cream because not only did it work well, but it did so immediately and with very little product!
If you’re looking for a hand cream that works and that is a healthier alternative, I recommend you try this.
