At IMATS, the NYX booth was the largest, and when I laid my eyes on the NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss section, I was a goner. With so many shades to choose from, I had to exercise great restraint to not buy one of everything. My wallet was thankful that I didn’t go ballistic – just left with 2 tubes.

This was the first time I had ever tried any NYX lip glosses, and I was pleasantly surprised at how pigmented they were, how smoothly they applied, and how they didn’t have a gross plastic smell.

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss Review (Pink Frost & Salsa)

I’m very particular about the kinds of lip glosses I like and don’t like. If it has a color, of course it has to be flattering, but nothing can redeem a gloss if the formula doesn’t apply well, doesn’t last long, or smells disgusting.

Lots of drugstore glosses have a weird plastic scent that I can’t stand. Especially since you wear lip gloss so close to your nose, the way it smells plays a very important factor.

Although I love NYX Cosmetics products, I admit to having very low expectations when it came to trying out NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Pink Frost and Salsa. But I was blown away that they wore and applied as well as more expensive glosses.

They smell like fruity or sour candies…in a good way! No plastic nonsense here. And when I wore the gloss, the scent was less noticeable than in the tube, so even if you don’t care for the candy fragrance, it might not be a big deal for you.

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss comes with a slanted doe-foot wand applicator, which I prefer over brush applicators. Yes, the doe-foot soaks up some product, but I feel more comfortable applying the product onto my lips with this than with a brush that has bending bristles.

Pink Frost is a shimmery pink leaning on the peach side. And although you’d expect a gloss named Salsa would be red, this one’s a neutral rose-pink with pink and peach shimmer.

Both of these colors are perfect for wearing with a dark smokey eye. They lighten your lips, but because they’re jam-packed with shimmer and shine, you won’t have to worry about Corpse Pout like you might with hard-to-wear MAC Myth Lipstick. NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss brings life to your lips.

NYX Mega Shine Lip Glosses wear well, too – for a few hours if you don’t eat or drink while wearing them. They feel slightly moisturizing yet surprisingly light. When I pressed my lips together, I didn’t notice any stickiness like the kind you always get with MAC Dazzleglasses. And the gloss didn’t feel slippery. Y’know how some glosses feel nasty like olive oil? Can’t stand that.

If you’re looking for a shiny lip gloss that isn’t sticky or slippery and you don’t mind a mild candy scent, NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss is a great choice! Pink Frost and Salsa are two simple and versatile colors that I feel would flatter many skin tones.
