OPI Don’t Speak Pure 18K Gold Top Coat Press Release

OPI Don't Speak Pure 18K Gold Top CoatOn Friday night, I sneaked in a blog post about the OPI Gwen Stefani Holiday Collection with 18 new nail-polish shades, which are coming out in October. (If you haven’t already checked it out, you should – there are plenty of exciting colours!)

Today, I have some more cool nail news for you!

The OPI Don’t Speak Pure 18K Gold Top Coat, again in collaboration with Gwen Stefani, will also be hitting stores in October.

It’s a full-size bottle, and, yes, it contains real gold, which is why it will retail for $37.50 CAD.

This is decadent, for sure, with gold leaf flakes and iridescent glitter. It’ll add the extra bling needed to ramp up a plain manicure and transform it into one that gets the party started!

If you know a fellow nailphile, this would make a great Christmas (or anytime) present because it’s highly collectible and comes in a fancy box.

Below is the official press release sent to me by PR:

OPI Launches Limited Edition
Don’t Speak Pure 18K Gold Top Coat

OPI announces the release of Don’t Speak Pure 18K Gold Top Coat, inspired by No Doubt singer/songwriter and L.A.M.B. designer Gwen Stefani. Featuring gold leaf flakes dusted with iridescent glitter, Don’t Speak Pure 18K Gold Top Coat adds gold foil texture to nails when worn over any OPI lacquer shade. This genuine 18-karat gold leaf and glitter top coat comes packaged in a special limited edition collectable box.

“As the name suggests, Don’t Speak Pure 18K Gold Top Coat will render you speechless. This luxurious top coat was inspired by Gwen Stefani’s chic, sophisticated style and is the must-have accessory for the holiday season,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder & Brand Ambassador. “I recommend layering the top coat over a rich jewel tone like OPI nail lacquer in Just BeClaus, or pairing it with a charcoal brown like OPI nail lacquer in Love is Hot and Coal for a truly show-stopping effect.”

Don’t Speak Pure 18K Gold Top Coat features OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application. This limited edition promotion will be available beginning October 2014 at professional salons and spas for $37.50 CAN suggested retail.

      Hey Melissa!

Haha, yeah, gold, caviar beads, flocking – lots of trendy texture and interesting finishes. I wonder what the next big nail trend will be, too! I just love the nail industry. Everyone in it is so creative, and I’m all about thinking outside the box! 🙂

      Hey Robbie!

Holy smokes – I checked out that polish you mentioned…and 24K gold! DAMN – it’s too rich for my blood. Cool bottle, though. It almost reminds me of a fancy schmancy perfume bottle.

    Hey Mary!

Any idea how close this is to the Bond collections Man With the Golden Gun and last year’s Mariah Carey gold and silver topper?

      Hey Traci!

OPI Don’t Speak has gold flakes with iridescent glitter. The iridescent glitter wasn’t in either OPI The Man with the Golden Gun or the OPI Mariah Carey top coat. The Man with the Golden Gun had yellowish gold, whereas the Mariah Carey one has a whitish gold. OPI Don’t Speak has yellowish gold flakes. Hope that helps!

In terms of the flakes, the shapes are pretty similar. The main differences are the tone of the gold and the inclusion or absence of iridescent glitter.

It’s not too expensive for something you would only use every once in a while. It would probably last you forever. I can’t wait to see everyone’s swatches of this one!

      Hey Ms. Heathen!

Hehe, most of my nail polishes last me forever. 😉 There are actually only a few bottles of polish that I’ve used up (not included base or top coats, of course). Hehe!

Yes, I’m also excited to see people’s swatches of this and to see what kind of original manicure and nail art they’ll come up with! EXCITING!
