Essie Take It Outside Swatches & Review

Essie Take It Outside Swatches & ReviewEssie Take It Outside is part of the Fall 2014 Collection, which I showed you the press release of recently.

I don’t usually wear softer shades like this, but I do enjoy switching things up. Life is too short to not enjoy expressing yourself with colour, and I love to sport everything and anything! 🙂

This is a very sophisticated and easy-to-wear shade that I feel many will love because it’s appropriate to wear in even conservative offices, yet it’s not boring because the taupe seems to have just a tinge of purple. (I think that’s what gives it some slight edginess!)

Essie Take It Outside Review

Colour

Take It Outside by Essie is definitely a fresh looking taupe. (You know how some taupes can look muddy or dirty? Well, this isn’t one of them!) It’s alive, and the light taupe has more ‘oomph’ to it because there’s a hint of purple mixed in.

This is very easy to wear, so even those who are afraid of too much colour will find it very comfortable. It’s great to wear to even traditional offices that are strict about nail polish, but it’s far from a snooze because the slight purple nuances give it a more interesting edge.

Finish

As a creme nail polish, it has a wonderfully simple finish that truly allows to the colour to bask in the spotlight on the stage without competing with the bells of whistles of a more complicated finish like a glitter one would.

It’s also easy to remove, which is typical of a creme finish.

Application & Formula

The formula provided great coverage with two coats, and I didn’t feel a need to add a third to reach full opacity. I used medium coats, and the consistency of the polish seems to be thick, yet runny at the same time. It was easy to manipulate with my brush and to apply even coats without much effort.

Pros

  • Fresh taupe with a hint of purple
  • Simple, beautiful creme finish
  • Easy to remove
  • A breeze to apply
  • Good formula
  • Suitable to wear to even conservative work environments

Cons

  • Not the craziest colour (Hehe, but not everyone wants or needs a crazy colour, right?) 😉

Final Verdict: 7.5/10

Although I don’t tend to wear taupes as much as louder or even tacky colours (hehe), I still got a kick out of wearing Take It Outside by Essie because it’s such a beautiful, demure, elegant shade that’s easy to wear with nearly anything in my wardrobe. It’s soft, feminine, and pretty, plus the formula doesn’t make me want to take it outside for a good ‘talking to’! 😉

Do you tend to wear taupes often? What’s your favourite taupe? Do you wear taupes solo or incorporate them into nail art?
