China Glaze Pool Party Swatches & Review

China Glaze Pool Party SwatchFlashing someone has never been so much fun…when you have an in-your-face, burn-your-retina neon pink nail polish like China Glaze Pool Party!

I rarely wear the same color twice just because there’s a whole bunch of bottles in my untried section. But there’s just something about China Glaze Pool Party that compels me to wear it several times.

Because it’s so bright, it’s fun to wear and lifts up my mood. It’s from summer’s Poolside Collection, but I enjoy wearing this the most during the fall and winter because it really stands out among all the vampy hues on the market.

When you look at my China Glaze Pool Party swatches, please remember that neon nail polish is very hard to photograph true to color. I did my best to capture its essence, but it’s actually much more neon than it appears in my pictures.

Key Notes

China Glaze Pool Party Review

Neon polish is really fun to wear because people can see you coming from far away. I’ve received so many compliments on this, and when you wear it, you’ll understand why. It’s as crazy bright and obnoxious as a pink highlighter marker.

And the interesting thing is that although it’s so vibrant in the sunlight, it’s really in low light where it looks like it’s literally glowing! This is definitely not a color for the shy violets out there. This is the kind of color you wear when you want to make a statement!

You absolutely must wear this with a top coat, however, because even if you apply 3 coats like I did, it goes on streaky no matter how carefully you apply it. Plus it also dries matte.

When you apply it, you may think it looks terrible, but trust me, slick on a glossy top coat and it goes from blah to holy smokes in no time flat. Opacity dramatically increases and the finish has an almost jellyish quality that looks juicy and not flat.

Another thing to note is that while in the bottle it looks like a neon pink, when it dries on your nails, it becomes more of a reddish neon pink (but it’s definitely not a red). You’ll notice this discrepancy in my last photo above.

The thing I love about neon nail polish like China Glaze Pool Party is that it doesn’t matter what skin tone you have – anyone can pull off this color as long as you have the confidence.

China Glaze as a brand is amazing. They’re not afraid of embracing new colors and starting trends. I have tons of their colors and they all wear like iron for me. Plus they’re affordably priced so they’re accessible to a lot of people, although they can be hard to track down for Canadians if you don’t like shopping online or if there isn’t a Sally Beauty Supply store nearby.

This is what I wore under and over the nail polish:

Pros

  • Formula’s easy to apply
  • Super happy bright neon that gets attention
  • Jellyish finish
  • Free of DBP, Toluene & added Formaldehyde
Cons

  • Dries matte & streaky (must wear a top coat to make it glossy & opaque)

Final Verdict: 10/10

China Glaze Pool Party is a winner in my beauty book! It goes from ugly duckling to gorgeous swan when you apply a top coat. And because it’s such an unexpected, shocking color especially for the fall and winter, expect to get lots of compliments and attract a lot of attention when you rock this.

Are you a fan of neon nail polish, or do you think it’s obnoxious and screams the 80s?

      Hey Min!

Thanks for the compliments and for letting me know. It would be nice if you had asked first, but I’m glad that you mentioned the blog name on the photo. Is it possible for you to provide a link back to SwatchAndLearn.com or add the “.com” to the end of the name so that people know the exact URL?
