OPI To Be Or Not To Beagle Swatches & Review (Layered Over OPI Good Grief!)

OPI To Be Or Not To Beagle Swatches & ReviewA couple of days ago, I shared with you an in-depth review of OPI Good Grief!, the sunny yellow from the Peanuts Collection out in stores this September.

Ever since laying my eyes on the glitters, specifically OPI To Be Or Not To Beagle, I knew I had to layer it over the yellow.

You know how I’m a huge fan of bold colour combinations. There’s nothing quite like looking down and being greeted by crazy nails, right? Right! 😉

What I really love about OPI To Be Or Not To Beagle is that the colourful glitter really reminds me of the Peanuts cartoons. The hues are a great match, and they managed to translate the fun and wholesome vibe from Peanuts into a nail polish. That’s quite remarkable! Charles Monroe Schulz (aka Sparky) would be proud! I still can’t believe it’s already been 14 years since his passing.

Speaking about people passing, I was terribly shocked and saddened that Robin Williams passed away recently. He was a gifted actor, and my favourite films of his are Awakenings and What Dreams May Come.

On a happier note, I’d like to remind you that you still have until this Friday (August 15) at 11:59 pm EDT to enter my worldwide giveaway to win 1 of 4 autographed bottles of Pretty Serious Swatch And Learn, the shade I designed! Hurry – get your entry in!

OPI To Be Or Not To Beagle Review

Colour

To Be Or Not To Beagle by OPI is my favourite polish from the Peanuts Collection because, just as claimed, it’s a “joyful glitter”. You look at it, and it looks happy-go-lucky.

I was really excited to wear this one, especially over the sunny yellow, OPI Good Grief! because the result is a bold manicure that’s so vibrant.

In a clear base are pieces of glitter in black, red, pink, light blue, turquoise, yellow, orange, and dark blue. Haha, as you can tell, there’s a rainbow of hues in this bottle, which is what makes it a treat to wear.

Plus because the base is clear, that means you can layer to your heart’s content over many different colours without transforming your base colour.

I think it would look great over pretty much any nail polish, so it’s really versatile!

Finish

This glitter-packed polish has small specks, short bar glitter, and hexagonal sequins. Together, they’re not too busy or too much. I find that to be quite impressive because it doesn’t look like they just dumped glitter into the bottle. It’s much more thoughtful!

Application & Formula

To Be Or Not To Beagle by OPI goes on pretty smoothly for a polish with this much glitter. Of course, you can’t just paint it on like a creme lacquer. At first you can, but keep in mind to work fast and use your brush to push around the hexagons for even dispersal of the glitter.

I only needed one coat to get the coverage you see, and this is how I like it. It added enough glitter, yet it allows the base polish to still show through. (If you want the glitter to be more dense, go ahead and add a second layer, but I prefer it this way.)

Keep in mind that the more layers of glitter you add, the more challenging it will be to remove later on. (That’s also why I prefer to use a single layer.) Of course, if you use the OPI Glitter Off Base Coat, then you can add the chunkiest glitter and remove it easily.

As with most glitter polishes, this one was no exception in that it dried very quickly. That’s always a plus!

Pros

  • Happy, multicoloured glitter
  • Clear base allows you to layer it over many different colours
  • Has small specks, short bar glitter & hexagonal sequins
  • Applies smoothly for a glitter
  • Dries quickly
  • Great coverage, even with 1 coat

Cons

  • Haha, is there a Con? (I think this polish is really special, so if I’m really being picky, I’ll just say that glitter polish is harder to remove than a creme polish.)

Final Verdict: 10/10

Yes, I gave To Be Or Not To Beagle by OPI a perfect score! 🙂 It’s original – I definitely don’t have any dupes for it, and because the base is clear, you can layer it over tons of colours without altering the base. I love that about it!

What really makes me excited about it is that when I look at it, especially layered over the yellow, it really brings to mind fond memories of the Peanuts characters. 🙂

What would you layer this glitter over? Do you have a favourite Peanuts character? Does this polish also make you do Snoopy’s happy dance? 😉

Edit: Thanks for the retweet, NailPolishCanada! 🙂

      Hey Cuti-CLUE-les!

Aww, really? I think you could rock it!

The bar glitter in this is on the short side, so maybe you’d like it better than the long kind?

I am in complete and total LOVE with this glitter! And it looks really good over the yellow. The matte texture and pastel colors of the glitter remind me of old comic books–which I suppose is what OPI was going for :).
