Whoa, the weekend sure was spectacular! The sun was shining, and it was enough to put anyone in a good mood! 🙂
One of my favourite things on a sunny day is to see and hear the leaves rustle as the wind flies through. I imagine that the leaves are being tickled, and small thoughts like that are enough to bring a smile to my face.
Today, I have for you a review on OPI Hotter Than You Pink, which is a neon pink that’s from the new Neon Collection.
I managed to have my camera ready to capture it in sunlight, natural light, and with a flash.
However, as with many bright shades, the brightness doesn’t fully translate on screen. OPI Hotter Than You Pink is a more saturated pink. It’s closer to my photos with flash, but it’s even deeper, so keep that in mind.
You know how I feel about pinks – they’re not my favourite, but I’ve definitely warmed up to them, and this one is really fun to wear because in the right light, you get cool blue reflects!

OPI Hotter Than You Pink Review
Colour
If you’re looking for a Barbie or Elle Wood-esque hot pink, you’ve found it! Hotter Than You Pink by OPI is as girly as Hello Kitty in a ballerina’s tutu.
While this isn’t typically the colour that I reach for first, I’ll admit that I really enjoyed wearing this because after a dismal winter, a bright burst of colour is a warm welcome!
Plus in certain lighting, you can see a flash of blue, which is a neat little surprise for polish peacocks like us. 😉
This pink is very easy to wear for most people, I think, because the saturation of pink isn’t too light or too dark.
It’s not the craziest colour or the brightest neon I’ve ever seen, but it’s still a very cheerful colour that’ll make your nails ‘smile’.
Finish
Hotter Than You Pink by OPI can look like a creme in certain lighting, but don’t be fooled! It actually has very subtle shimmer that comes out in the sunlight or under bright artificial light.
I think that’s why it’s more interesting than an ordinary pink. It’s like a subtle chameleon of sorts because when you get bored and look down at your nails throughout the day, you’ll notice that it looks slightly different. This is what will keep your interest!
Application & Formula
Application was exactly as expected. If you’ve ever used a neon nail polish before, you know that it’s usually somewhat streaky and it dries to a matte finish. This one was no exception.
I used 3 coats. With a typical polish, I opt for 2 coats, but with neons, since the coverage usually takes some coaxing to build up, I always use 3 coats to maximize the ‘neon-ness’. And I love to apply a shiny top coat on a neon because it minimizes any streaks, and it seems to make the polish look even brighter.
For this polish, I highly recommend that you use a shiny top coat. If you don’t, I think you’ll be really disappointed and unimpressed. Trust me – use the shiny top coat! It makes any neon better!
Another thing about OPI Hotter Than You Pink is that, like a typical neon, it dries quickly. By the time I finished painting the last finger on my second hand, the first finger on my other hand was pretty much dry, so I could continue painting the next coat.

Final Verdict: 8/10
If you’re a fan of pink nail polish, you’ll probably love this. And if you like bright colours for the spring and summer, I think you’ll also reach for this.
As for myself, even though I’m more into green nail polish, I still really enjoyed wearing this girly colour! It’s great for the warm weather, and I loved how there was an unexpected flash of blue shimmer!
Do you have a favourite pink nail polish? What neon is one you’ve worn many times? If you could design your own neon nail polish, what would it look like?
Very pretty!! Perfect for Summertime toes! 🙂
Hey Melissa!
It’s a great pink that makes you feel so girly! 🙂
Lovely, I really like the shimmer 🙂
Hey Renee!
For me, that’s what it stand-out feature is. Kicks this shade up a notch!

Hey Lizzy!
Glad you think so! 🙂
This reminds me of La-Positively Hot but w some shimmer. Your nail shape is really pretty.
Hey Jennifer!
Aww, thank you! I always drool over those who have squoval (squared oval) nails. Guess it’s a case of the Grass Is Always Greener on the Other Side syndrome, right? 😉
One question for you – I found the base coat to be extra-streaky, so I’m wondering if a drop of thinner would help that any?
Loving this! And you know I love #SwatchAndLearn!
Hey Debi!
You could try that, but I’ve never tried thinning out a polish to help it look less streaky, only to correct the thick consistency.
Amo vernizes, adorei a explicação, amei a cor, obrigada.
Hey Ana!
I’ll need to use a translator to find out what you said. But, in any case, thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment! 🙂 I appreciate you visiting my blog!
This colour is just stunning! I need it!! I love that it’s more than just a solid neon, it’s really pretty. Can’t wait to see this in person.
Hey Lucy!
Hope you love it in person! 😀
