This is the very latest coming down the OPI pipeline!
Ford Mustang will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in April, and they’ve teamed up with OPI to come out with a nail-polish collection.
Although I’m not a car buff (not by any stretch of the imagination, even), I’m still excited about this upcoming collaboration because it breaks down some gender stereotypes.
In this day and age, women are more independent than ever before, and I always find it refreshing to see women in dominant and adventurous roles. There’s nothing wrong with traditional feminine roles, but, like people in general, women are all different. It’s great to see the diversity and the woman power!
In this blog post, you’ll more information regarding the upcoming OPI Ford Mustang Collection that will be released in July 2014.
This is all the information I have, but if there’s anything new, I’ll either update this post or I’ll create a new post depending on how much new information there is to add.
Below is the official press release sent to me by PR:
Ford Mustang’s 50th
Anniversary Inspires Limited Edition
OPI Nail Lacquer Collection
LOS ANGELES, CA, Mar. 4, 2014 – OPI Products Inc., a subsidiary of COTY Inc., and Ford Motor Company today announced a unique collaboration featuring the iconic Ford Mustang. The popular pony car – celebrating its 50th anniversary in April – will serve as the inspiration for a line of OPI limited edition nail lacquers that will launch internationally in July.
“OPI is thrilled to partner with one of the world’s top automotive companies in celebrating 50
years of Ford Mustang,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Co-Founder and Executive Vice
President. “For women, cars and nail lacquer offer a way to express personality. This new
collection will deliver elements of sophistication, luxury, power and style fitting for both OPI and Mustang consumers.”
The collection’s hero shade, Race Red, is a tribute to one of Mustang’s most iconic colors.
“Ford Mustang inspires passion like no other car, and we are excited to be working with OPI on an exclusive collection that captures the spirit of our iconic car,” says Melanie Banker, Mustang marketing manager. “There is no better way to express Mustang’s bold personality and the excitement it creates than through color.”
Celebrating an Icon
The Ford Mustang is about to become the newest member of a very exclusive club – vehicles in continuous production for 50 years. Over the last five decades, Mustang has gained worldwide popularity and has become an enduring part of pop culture with more than 9.2 million Ford Mustangs sold and roughly 3,000 appearances on film and TV – including its upcoming big screen appearance as the hero car in “Need for Speed.”
Mustang’s unique combination of style, performance and affordability established an entirely new class of sporty cars, and its next chapter unfolds with the all-new Ford Mustang. Its most
advanced version yet, the 2015 Mustang features an all-new sophisticated design – clearly
inspired by its 50-year heritage – and a host of new innovative technologies and connectivity
systems.
Can you think of what other colours might be included in the OPI Ford Mustang Collection? What’s your dream car? Do you drive or commute by public transit to school or work?
As a classic Mustang fangirl I’m really excited about this! I’m hoping they do a color inspired by the mustang in Bullit! I think it’s like a dark pine green, so pretty!! Or maybe they can do a Shatter-type top coat that seperates into stripes
Hey Michaela!
Ohhh, you had me there at greeeeeen! 😉 (Green fiend here!)
Your idea for a Shatter polish that separates into stripes sounds really cool. If they could do that, it’d be totally revolutionary, and I’m sure it’d be so well-received!
Well, I will be getting this since we own a Red Ford Shelby. Have to be color coordinated when we go out! Thanks for the heads up! 🙂
Hey Celeste!
That’s right, you rock it! 🙂 I think it’s so fun to see matching cars and nails.
Too cool. Of course, Ill have to buy this one.
Hey Melissa!
Red, OPI, and Mustangs go together exceptionally well!
I’m so curious to see what the other colours in the collection will look like!
I think a Bullit Green would definitely be in order. Maybe even a really nice black or a blue. Hopefully these will release soon.
Hey Melissa!
Those are all really wonderful suggestions! I’m curious to see what they’ll come out with, but a Bullit Green would make my heart race!
My son is a car guy, so of course he loves a classic Mustang. I second the hopes for a “bullitt green”, since I have been on the hunt for this in a nail color for a long time. The only one that got my son’s thumbs up as a possible contender is Sinful Last Chance. Also hoping for a vintage Mustang blue. The last car collections OPI did were not that adventurous, but we can dream, can’t we?
Just found out the color I’m hoping for is called Guardsman Blue. Beautiful! http://www.latimes.com/fashion/alltherage/la-ar-opi-ford-mustang-race-red-nail-lacquer-20140304,0,5427628.story#axzz2vZq8HxVy
Cool! Thanks for letting me know! Now I’m getting really excited!
Yes, we’ll hope for the best from OPI! 🙂 Maybe this time, they’ll venture out and surprise us with something really out of the box.
You know what I like about this? Cars, or at least cars as an interest, have always been considered a traditionally “male” interest. Kudos to Mustang for reaching out to their female consumers as well!

Hey Fedoraharp!
The world is evolving, and it’s great to see brands thinking outside the gender-stereotype box. I was pleasantly surprised to learn about this collaboration!
I’m hoping for Gotta Have it Green and Grabber blue! Those mustang colors are so fun. I’m from a car family too. Dad has a old school Chevelle and boyfriend is a mustang guy.
Hey Jasmine!
I’m all for the colours you mentioned, but especially green! (Hehe, I may be biased since I’m a green fiend!) 😉
Hehe, I just read this post to my husband.
His reply: “You’re going to have to get each and every color, if you want to or not!!”
So being the loving wife that I am I guess I’ll be stalking my beautysalon end of June and early July.
It has nothing to do with being a
polish addictpolish lover… at all… 😉Hey Joyce!
Your husband is the best! Haha! 🙂 Yes, stalking nail polish isn’t an easy job, but someone’s gotta do it, so you’ll be up for the task! 😉
Maybe you could paint your husband’s toenails with some of the colours after you get them, y’know, because he was just sooooo insistent on you getting them! 😉
Yay! White! Too bad no deep impact blue.
Hey Kym!
Can’t wait to see these in person! 🙂
