Nicole by OPI Carrie’d Away Swatches & Review

Nicole by OPI Carrie'd Away Swatches & ReviewIt’s been a long time since I wore Nicole by OPI Carrie’d Away from the Carrie Underwood Collection. (You may remember seeing a glimpse of it in this Quick Look post.)

This collection was officially released in January 2014, but I wore Carrie’d Away in October last year.

As you know, I moved! I’m still in the process of organizing everything in my new home – the first home I ever bought! 🙂 No more renting!

While being crazy busy setting everything up, I’ve also been working hard to ensure that Swatch And Learn continues to run like usual with posts Monday to Friday, so I’ve been busting out some photos of manicures I wore that never got their chance in the spotlight (aka a full, in-depth review)! 😉 No better time than the present!

Please be patient and bear with me as I make this major transition because, after I get my home all organized, I have tons of new nail polishes to share with you! (My internet will be set up at my new place soon, so hopefully that’ll help me avoid any interruptions.)

Also, thanks for stopping by my blog. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: My readers are the best, and I feel very fortunate to have such great support from you all! 🙂

Nicole by OPI Carrie’d Away Review

Colour

Nicole by OPI Carrie’d Away is a gold, textured nail polish that makes you want to celebrate the ball dropping on New Year’s Eve every single day!

It’s full-on glam with all the sparkle that the pickiest diva would ever demand. When you move your fingers, each little piece of glitter effectively captures the light and reflects it, so there’s the illusion of a lot of movement. This makes for a very exciting manicure to wear!

There are many different tones of golds, and it may take some experimenting to find out which one better complements your skin.

I find that ones that resemble more of a true gold bar tend to look better on me than pale ones. Although, sometimes champagne tones work. It also depends on the finish. For instance, glitters tend to be more forgiving on me than chromes, where the shade of gold must have the right undertone.

Finish

This is a true glitterbomb because it’s so sparkly, as far as the eye can see! But what makes it even cooler is that it’s textured, which is very trendy. (You know that I dig my textured polishes!)

For those who aren’t over the moon about textured polishes, just slap on 2 layers of a shiny top coat to smooth it out more. (Make sure that only one of the coats is a quick-dry one, if you use that, because two layers of quick-dry top coat can shrink or alter your polish.)

The beauty of a textured polish is that it dries exceptionally fast, so when you’re in a pinch (like when you’re off to a last-minute party), reach for this one!

Also, although textured polishes look like they’d be a nightmare to remove, they’re actually not. I found it way easier to remove this than a typical glitter nail polish.

Application & Formula

Nicole by OPI Carrie’d Away is a glitter that covers the nail exceptionally well. I’d use this solo rather than layered, since it is dense. (You just need 2 coats to completely cover the nail line!)

Applying it was easier than I thought. I was preparing for it to be thick and difficult to manage, but it went on very smooth (for a textured polish). I didn’t have to manipulate the glitter. I painted my nails like I would with a creme lacquer, and it evened out all on its own. No fussing around! *Thumbs up*

Pros

  • Catches the light & reflects it, so it’s very sparkly
  • Applies easily & evenly
  • Dries quickly
  • Needs only 2 coats for full coverage
  • Textured (This may be a Con for some.)

Cons

  • Textured (This may be a Pro for some.)

Final Verdict: 9/10

If you’re looking for a gold textured polish that glitters so much in nearly every lighting condition, Nicole by OPI Carrie’d Away will, well, carry you away and off into the sunset! 😉

What was the most recent textured polish you wore? Which Nicole by OPI Carrie Underwood Collection polish did you wear last? Do you think that Carrie Underwood was the best American-Idol winner? (I think she’s an incredible singer, but I prefer the powerhouse vocals and flexibility of Kelly Clarkson!)

Congratulations on your first place!!! I know unpacking can take awhile, but in the end, it’ll be worth it. 🙂
I like this color. Very pretty, looks like it would be good for Christmas.
Take your time posting. We can wait. **Grabs popcorn and settles in to wait on Mary’s next post**

      Hey Melissa!

Thank you so much! I’m all settled in now, but there are little things here and there that I’m updating and improving around my home to truly make it mine. 🙂
