OPI Toucan Do It If You Try Swatches & Review

OPI Toucan Do It If You Try Swatches & ReviewRemember when I reviewed OPI Where Did Suzi’s Man-Go? a couple of days ago? I got on board the orange train, Choo-choooooo! My love for these kind of shades is still going strong.

Today, I bring you another orange nail-polish review. This time, it’s on OPI Toucan Do It If You Try from the Brazil Collection that’s scheduled to officially hit stores on February 5.

It has hints of tangerine, but it still has that softer look to it that really makes me think of warm weather, the sun beating down, and shedding the winter jacket.

Oh, I can’t wait for spring to come. (I’ve had enough of you, Old Man Winter. No offence!)

Key Notes

OPI Toucan Do It If You Try Review

Colour

If you’re looking for a shade that adds some sizzle to your nails and you’re the type of person who loves wearing colours that you don’t see on everyone, I think Toucan Do It If You Try by OPI is a great choice.

I don’t know about where you live, but in my neighbourhood, I hardly see anyone with orange fingertips. That’s only part of the reason why I’m starting to become more intrigued by this colour territory.

Toucan Do It If You Try by OPI isn’t a pale orange. It has some bite to it without being dark.

Finish

Here’s another great creme polish. (OPI does them so well, don’t they?)

It has a clean look that’s simple and fresh. Since it’s a creme, it’s smooth and easy-peasy to remove.

Application & Formula

Applying Toucan Do It If You Try by OPI was smooth, and it went on easily. It was pigmented right from the get-go, but I used my usual 2 coats to ensure that I got complete coverage.

Pros

  • Fun orange
  • Pigmented
  • Goes on smoothly & easily
  • Simple to remove

Cons

  • Haha, is there a Con?

Final Verdict: 9/10

Yup, I think I’m getting really into oranges like never before. I want to try them all now and find out what other ones work with my skin tone!

If you aren’t sure about oranges on your fingertips yet, I encourage you to give this one a try. It’ll pleasantly surprise you!

Do you wear orange nail polish more during Hallowe’en than any other time of year? Would you wear orange nail polish with orange lipstick?

Wow, def not an orange person too, but this one is also sooo pretty! I also bet it will look nice on all sorts of skin tones, which is great because peaches/oranges often don not look that great on the paler ladies like myself 😉

      Hey Renee!

Interesting how a lot of people who weren’t necessarily ‘orange people’ are now developing a soft spot for the shade! OPI is certainly doing something right! 🙂

Wow, this Brazil collection is shaping up to be a great one! So far I’m loving (an wanting) every shade you’ve swatched from it.

Oranges don’t love my pasty pinkness but I don’t hold that against them. They makes my eyes happy! I’m loving these oranges you’re featuring, you go! This one looks like a bionic melon/tangerine cross! It has a lovely creaminess to it, too.

      Hey Liz!

I’m surprised that it’s so orange! I thought it was more pinky coral from the other swatches I’ve seen. Will you please do a side by side with Live.Love.Carnival ? Thank you oh and I love that in one pic your nail.s are so shiny that they reflect your window s.

      Hey Carly!

On me, it definitely pulled out the orange. I guess if you have a different skin tone, it could look a little different. Also, sometimes different lighting can slightly alter the hue.

In my Quick Look post on the OPI Brazil Collection, I have side-by-side swatches of the two shades you’re interested in. The photo was taken with my camera’s flash. You can see it here: http://www.swatchandlearn.com/quick-look-opi-brazil-collection-for-springsummer-2014/

Yep, that does it…definitely gonna get this one. Every time I go into the shop lately, the manager says…’not yet, but soon’ before I even get the chance to ask. 😛 She knows exactly what I’m looking for, apparently.

You’re right about the OPI cremes. They really are a treat. The colors are not too warm, not too cool…but just right for almost any skin tone.

Speaking of oranges. I finally broke down and bought another bottle of China Glaze Japanese Koi this week. It looks like I might have snagged one of the last remaining bottles of the original that Sally’s had in our area because the new ones that the clerk was putting on the shelf don’t look nearly as bright next to the one that I bought.

      Hey Karen!

Haha, funny how the manager knows you SOOOO well! That’s pretty cool – you’re like the resident nailphile!

Oohhhhhh, Japanese Koi! That is such a bright orange that looks so amazing! I’m glad that you were able to get the original version. Sad how the new ones are different. I wish they’d just change the name if the shade’s reformulated. It would create less confusion among customers. (Thanks for mentioning this. I didn’t even know there were 2 different version of this colour!)

Hi! Beautiful swatches! Could you tell me how close this is to Essie’s Tart Deco? Wondering if it is worth the purchase when I already have that one… 🙂

This colour looks gorgeous. I’m considering using it but I am just wondering if you feel it would look good on very pale skin. I usually have to wear stronger colours.

    Thanks!

      Hey Kelly!

Yes, I think it would also look great on very fair skin tones. Go for it! 🙂 If you can wear pastels, try it out. Or maybe you can do nail art with it.
