OPI My Favorite Ornament is one of the new shades from the Mariah Carey Holiday Collection.
It’s not typically a shade that I wear, but I’m always up for trying nail polishes that are out of my comfort zone. (By experimenting, sometimes that’s when you discover new shades you like.)
I enjoyed how sparkly and dazzling this champagne glitter looked on my nails. And while it’s blingtastic, it’s still somehow delicate and sophisticated. I felt like this is a great shade for a glitter lover who wants a more mature option than the chunky, bold versions on the market.

OPI My Favorite Ornament Review
Colour
Champagne is a great way to describe My Favorite Ornament by OPI because it is a pale gold that looks light, luxurious, and reminiscent of the decadent life.
I’m not used to sporting such delicate, sophisticated glitters like this, but I really enjoyed it. There’s something to be said about a glitter that can be soft yet sparkle like crazy!
While the shade is light, it never appeared so pale that it came across as a silver. And that’s a great thing for me because I find it challenging to wear a lot of silvers. Gold(en) hues seem to complement the yellow undertones in my skin.
This nail polish really reminds me of Mariah Carey because she likes to wear a lot of these kind of colours. I think it’s a great addition to her collection.
Finish
My Favorite Ornament by OPI isn’t advertised as having a Liquid Sand finish, so I was surprised to notice that there was noticeable texture. It felt gritty, not like a regular glitter polish, but actually like a Liquid Sand!
That may be a negative point for those who aren’t into the textured-nail trend, but since I am totally on board, I was thrilled! (In fact, that’s exactly the reason why I didn’t apply a top coat. I wanted to enjoy the grittiness.)
If you apply a top coat, you could smooth it out, but I don’t know if it would enhance the sparkle because even worn as-is, it reflects the light like a crazy disco ball!
No matter what angle your nails catch the light, the glitter will dance and twinkle on your nails like a fairy rolling around in pixie dust.
Application & Formula
Even though it’s a light colour, I only needed to use 2 coats to fully cover my nails.
The formula was superb – it glided on evenly and easily, so it made the painting process whiz right by. (I love nail polishes that cooperate, don’t you?)

Final Verdict: 8.5/10
My Favorite Ornament by OPI was a pleasant surprise for me, and I’d be interested in exploring more champagne shades like this in the future.
Do you wear champagne shades on your nails, or are bold golds more your style? Do you prefer neutrals or loud colours when it comes to your clothing?
That is so pretty! I thought it was a liquid sand too until I read your review.
Hey Tanya!
It may as well be labelled a Liquid Sand (even though technically it isn’t) because the finish certainly feels like one. I’m actually puzzled why it wasn’t advertised as one!
Does your bottle of “My Favorite Ornament” seem a little (milimetric) taller than other OPI bottles and the ink on bottle seems to be less rough than the other bottles? I’m freaking out that the one I’ve ordered might be a counterfeit 🙁
Hey Eyll!
I took a closer look at my bottle now, and it looks pretty consistent with some of the other ones I compared it to in my collection.
Don’t freak out just yet. There are sometimes small discrepancies between even genuine OPI bottles. For instance, even the ones I get directly from OPI’s PR are sometimes slightly different, and they’re 100% genuine.
Did you purchase them from eBay? Is that why you’re concerned? Does the label on the bottom of your bottle look the same as the one in my photo? Also, you’ll want to make sure that the labels on the back are in the same order: arrow in a circle, flame, finger on a manual, and the 24M container image.
Yes, I bought it from ebay. Unfortunately I have no other options. Yes the labels at the bottom of the bottle and the warning labels behind the bottle look like the pictures you’d posted and the bottles I have. However, the feeling when i scratch the ink on the bottle is not the same like the ink used is not like the ones I have. And you’re right about not everything being the same with all the bottles so I should not freak out much. Thank you 🙂
Okay, the fact that the label and the warning signs on the bottles match up are a very good sign! I wonder if maybe they just tested out a new ink for some.
Oooo Sparkly! Perfect for the holidays!
Hey Melissa!
Yes, it’s a great celebratory polish – makes you feel so festive!
Reminds me of Tomoko. ^_^ Very pretty.

Hey Lizzy!
You know what? I just took a look online, and you’re right – very similar!
Whoa! Need Sunglasses. That’s some sparkle.
Hey Cindi!
Hehe, I can picture someone wearing this in the club with a sequin dress. Definitely would need those shades! 😉
It looks really pretty, can you tell me if it’s very different from the silver polish in the OPI Miss Universe collection? I was considering buying that one.
Hey Jez!
Yes, it’s very different than OPI This Gown Needs a Crown, which is silver and has a satin finish that feels like frosted glass. My Favorite Ornament has a grittier texture like the Liquid Sands, and it is a pale gold. Hope that helps you narrow down your choice!
I think this shade &finish same as “honey rider” from Bond girl collection
So, I want to know What are you opinion?
Hey Nui!
I took a look at both just now because it’s been a while since I wore OPI Honey Rider.
Both are a champagne, but Honey Rider looks a little darker. When you see them in person, they’re definitely not dupes, and you could justify owning both.
They’re both textured, even though Honey Rider was the only one advertised as having a Liquid Sand finish. OPI My Favorite Ornament is waaaaay more sparkly than Honey Rider, and it catches the light more, which makes it livelier.
If I had to pick only one to recommend, I’d say to definitely go for My Favorite Ornament!
