China Glaze Queen B from the Autumn Nights Collection is a blue-purple creme nail polish that’s simple, but dramatic. I can see this as a great base for nail art!
The first thing that sprung to mind when I heard the name Queen B was a queen bee.
Isn’t it so weird how she’s fed by all her workers and is just responsible for having baby bees? (I wonder if she’s fanned with a leaf and fed grapes while having her little nails painted. Hehe!)
Thinking about bees also made me sadly remember the Colony Collapse Disorder, where worker bees go missing. It’s pretty scary because bees are needed to pollinate crops including plants that provide fruits and vegetables for our consumption. So if they disappear, that could spell disaster for our food supply!
I’ve read that some pesticides are the reason why a lot of honeybees are dying, and that it may play a role in how some bees leave the hive and either forget their way back to the hive or how to communicate to other bees where to locate the nectar.
Bees play such an important role in our ecosystem, so it’s scary to see them get hit with such a major problem.
I hope that scientists can figure out a viable solution to, at least, slow down the process.

China Glaze Queen B Review
Colour
Queen By by China Glaze doesn’t break any ground, but I really love this colour because it’s a great blue-purple shade that’s dynamic yet simple.
It’s the kind of colour that helps your nails stand out, but it’s not a shocking neon or anything gaudy.
Finish
The creme finish is very straight-forward, and although there are no bells or whistles, the colour makes the statement.
The beauty about a creme finish is that it’s so easy to apply and remove, which brings me to the next section.
Application & Formula
Queen B by China Glaze had an amazing formula. The polish flowed onto my nails smoothly, and boy was it ever pigmented! Even with a single coat, I got impressive coverage, however I opted to use my usual 2 coats minimum to ensure that I had complete coverage.
This nail polish is extremely easy to work with – not too thick and not too thin. You can apply thin coats if you’d like, but I used my usual medium coats.
Great formula – fuss-free!

Final Verdict: 9/10
I gave Queen B by China Glaze a really high score because the exceptional formula and pigmentation are a winning combination!
Even though this shade isn’t earth-shattering, I still really enjoyed wearing it as a manicure because it was a joy to use and because the colour itself is pretty dynamic.
Have you worn any of the China Glaze Autumn Nights Collection shades? What are your thoughts on the Colony Collapse Disorder? Have you ever been stung by a bee?
I have a couple of colors like that, but all a few shades lighter. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for a dupe of that!
It’s funny, I used to be so obsessed with getting CG, because they were unavailable here except for one particular shop, and for about $24. But lately I’ve kind of forgotten about them- I guess I’ve made peace with my local polish brands 🙂 plus the occasional OPI satisfies my yen for unaffordable and unattainable polish. Maybe when I visit America next year and inevitably go on a polish spree I’ll pick up a few anyway and renew my interest in the brand!

Hey FedoraHarp!
HOLY SMOKES – it never fails to blow my mind that in some places in the world, polishes that we can get here in Canada for a decent price is soooo expensive!
But I’m happy to hear that you’re enjoying your local polishes. What are some gems you’ve found?
There are a couple of local brands that have the basics pretty much covered, but I have two favorites. There’s a brand called Perfect Chic which has two permanent collections that I absolutely adore- a glass fleck finish jewel tone set (which I have all of and use frequently), and just now a liquid sand set. First liquid sand in Israel! The other brand is called GA-DE (pronounced “jade”), and they don’t have any specialty polishes, but they do have a really great range, and I adore their bottle shapes. They look and feel like a high end brand without actually costing like one. (Their makeup is somewhat more debatable quality, but their nail polishes are great).
When 31DC2013 ends I’ll probably post a whole bunch of swatches- now that I’m getting accustomed to posting this regularly, I’m almost definitely kicking my blog up a notch. Especially if I don’t have the added time suck of art involved!

A glass-fleck finish jewel tone set? That sounds amazing! *Drool*
Congrats to you on doing the 31-day challenge! I’m amazed by all the creativity and the dedication to sticking to it. Hope you are really loving it!
I’ve heard that about the bees. 🙁 It’s so messed up. I get that it sucks to get stung, but bees are very important! Everything in nature has a role to play. *sigh* This is a lovely color.

Hey Lizzy!
Yes, definitely they have their role in nature. (The only insect that I really don’t like are mosquitoes. They can spread disease, and they inflict such annoying skin irritations. I’d take bees over mosquitoes any day!)
so preety
Hey Icequeen81!
I knew you’d like it – it’s very much an Icequeen81 shade!
yes it is 🙂
Love the color. Very pretty! 🙂
Hey Melissa!
Glad you like it. I’m itching to use a lot of the Autumn Nights Collection shade in a nail-art design! I’m finding that a lot of them pair well with each other.
