I find it slightly hard to review many of the e.l.f. brushes, and the e.l.f. Essentials Foundation Brush is no exception. Reason? Well, this brush is of decent quality.

Here lies the issue: For a $1, I think the (formerly named) e.l.f. Essential Foundation Brush is a good buy. The price of elf brushes seems to always be the qualifier. It is good…for the price. But if you’re willing to spend just a bit more, you’ll definitely be able to find a foundation brush of better quality and can give you better results.

e.l.f. Professional Foundation Brush Review

Soft bristles? Check. This e.l.f. foundation brush feels soft against my skin, and never once did I feel it prick or poke me even when I’m using it under the eye.

Good distribution? Check. Compared to using my finger, the elf Professional Foundation Brush is able to spread foundation on my skin much easier.

So what’s the issue? Well, it doesn’t do very well if I’m comparing it with another brush. Ever since I got the Sigma Foundation F60 Brush, the elf one has just been sitting in a drawer.

The elf Essential Foundation Brush isn’t as dense and isn’t as pliable. The result is that you get a slightly streaky application. This could also be because of some quality control issues. The elf brush head is slightly jagged, leading to not-the-best application. Why would I use this if I have access to another brush that gives me a more natural application with better coverage?

However, the Sigma brush does cost $14, which is a lot more in comparison. So if you don’t want to spend that much, give the e.l.f. Essential Foundation Brush a try. You’ll definitely get your $1’s worth and a bit more.

I think the elf Professional Foundation Brush is good for those who want something really affordable while providing quality that equals or is slightly more than the cost. It’s also good as a back-up.
